  • What a horror to tune! It's easy to see why it lost half of its strings in its evolution. Still, well done!

  • @JosephKerr27 evolution-involution? ;)

  • So much easier to play than the renaissance lute! The lack of "thumb under"s sound beauty is compensated by the extraordinary elegance of Bach's piece and the lovely feeling and skill of the performer in this case!

  • @hallobaaaby easy is not the word i would have chosen, but thank you :)

  • i would hate to tune that shit

  • @armineprox i bought it tuned :)

  • piel de gallina ! Excellent performance, it is fascinating to see you play!

  • @witzie chicken skin ;) thank you witzie

  • Brilliant.

  • @MaxnniProg thank you max

  • bach tendria q haber estado en un momento d su vida muy triste para componer esto....cuanta tristeza y melancolia hay entre estas notas...

  • J.S. Bach is the unparalleled master of creativity. Thank you for uploading this beautiful performance. :)

  • @Seanhassall i do agree with u, what did Bach could have in this head for doing such amount of wonderful music??

  • @laberintosingeniosos you sure you got enough strings on that? must take a lifetime to tune.

  • @KeeHass97 i bought it tuned ;)

  • Wonderful interpretation. Excellent in the way the music resonates and breaths, very natural playing. Thank you for posting

  • @isi2isi67 thank you isi

  • those 3:21 minutes were some moments of my life, bravo :)

  • @talashtv i'm happy about that, thank you

  • I've spent half my life tuning, and the other half playing out of tune.

  • @mrdanielsonx me 2 ;)

  • @laberintosingeniosos 'the only thing i know, that i know nothing'... i wonder for how long these capable persons keep repeating it :)

"jis pairr par jitnay pphal hotay hien

wo ootna hi jhhuk jata hai"

its an Urdu saying the simplest meaning of it is:

the more you bow down, the more you grow :)

  • @talashtv :)

  • I have been playing and listening to Bach for many years now, but even after all those years and now thinking about it, I still cannot comprehend how a human being can come up with such (?). Like a deep ocean and so irresistably painful.

Mr. Díaz-Latorre, thank you for your amazing interpretation of the Adagio (It is my personal best among several others). Your lute is also very beautiful. I hope I get a chance to listen to you live some day, and you post a lute version of the 1003-Grave.

  • @erdemkoyuncu12 thank you very much. Sometimes I also ask myself what did this man have in his head to be able to compose such amount of beautiful things... And one nicer than the other. Thx for listening

  • WoW cool

  • @m34nb34n thank you!

  • hauntingly beautiful playing! somehow after all the music out there, this is pure music ^^

  • it's crazy when you think about how much more complicated music was a long time ago compared to today's music

  • @kevboslice112 I Aggree, what is the music-industry doing, really? It´s sad!

  • That must be a bitch to tune

  • its like notes are written down on the face of the player, great performance, not only in hearing but also in looking

  • @FGFBACH thank you, very kind

  • und wenn er nicht gestorben ist dann stimmt er sie noch heute^^

  • I know environmental factors like heat and humidity will effect woodwind and other string instruments with varying degrees. Do lutes tend to hold their intonation pretty well?

  • @MrDanielBrisk normally yes, but if you use gut strings, they are much more sensitive to the enviroment's factors

  • I'm utterly speechless. ...all I could say is #1) I am in awe of you as a musician and #2) That thing must be a real JOY to get and keep in tune!!! :)

  • @MrDanielBrisk Thx Daniel, as I said in another comment, I bought the lute in Ikea already tuned, so I don't have to tune it again ;)

  • @laberintosingeniosos they sell these at ikea??

  • Oh, the Great JSB is just my favorite composer in the history of the universe. You bring him to life. So beautiful.

  • @RickS714 thanks, but he brought me to light :)

  • Am I the only one who first thought that he was going to perform paganini caprice #5 ?

  • @moustatache i'd like to play it, but my skills with the violin are not the best :)

  • @laberintosingeniosos i love that i watch you in some of my favorite performances with jordi savall and here you are, responding to youtube comments

  • @moofytolkin sure, why shouldn't I :) it's my pleasure. Thanks for the comments

  • This is really quite beautiful. Having both listened to the lute suites played by many people over my 58 years, and played them myself, although on guitar, I have to say that this is one of the best performances I have ever heard.

The relative strictness of Baroque timing (i.e., minimal rubato) coupled with the technical difficulty of playing the lute suites, seems to me to result in a mess, if not a trainwreck, for most performances. But yours was wonderful; I just wish there were more.

  • @8888Rik hear hear, I would love hear more as well. Your play is astounding and spot on.

  • @bobvinbob very kind

  • @8888Rik thank you, in my next projects there is recording bach partita and sonata by Bach. I'll let you know. Regards

  • I wish that there are again some rainy days in Barcelona ... :-)

All the best and thank you for the music!

    Harry

  • @HarryLaute it's mostly sunny :)

  • very very big applause!

you dont do that what most guitar players or luthe players do: They play guitar or luthe.

But You really make music! And this is what instruments are built for.And this is what Bach wrote these "notes" for. This is nct playing - not interpreting: this is re-composing. I could say that your technical ability is overwhelmingly good - but who cares? Music is not about adoring fingers that move precisely over the neck of a guitar or vilolin - it is for the ears!

  • @FidelKastrat thank you, It's difficult, but the music worth it

  • Why do the High Frets look Transparent? Amazing skill in your playing by the way.

  • @PrismaticDemi thanks, transparten? the high frets are on wood and only takes a part of the fingerboard

  • Great player and nice song. Congrats and keep up with the job!

  • @jamdantas thanks, I'll do it

  • Once again, superb playing. Thank you.

  • @8888Rik thanks once again

  • How many strings does that have!

  • you should dress up in a medieval costume when you play that! haha. great playing!

  • @Greg321m i wouldn't fit on it ;)

  • Wow! absolutely fantastic playing. sensitive, lleno con emocion.

  • @200000028 thank you

  • Epic music for a rainy day.

  • @Korea4Me pity that Spain is mostly sunny ;)

  • Beautiful. This was probably asked before, but why are the top strings attached in a different fashion?

  • @KapnKerfuffle Those are the bass strings. They are not fretted. As you can see they are outside of the fretboard. They are plucked occasionally to ad a bass note.

  • @KapnKerfuffle you mean the lowes? because there are not fretteble, they are played just as an accompainment

  • SO MANY STRINGS! Although very exceptional playing, I enjoyed listening to this!

  • @nova0981 thank you, a lot of strings indeed ;)

  • You should learn (if you don't know it already) the Bach Chaconne, and put it up!!

  • wow tha sounds lika a piano song
