I'm sure you could etch inside a glass also but then food would get caught in there and I wonder if things that are tomato based would stain it...but you could try. Why not?
I just finished a 9 x 13 glass baking dish for a wedding gift. It turned our gorgeous! I put both names, the wedding date and a bride and groom with flowers on the bottom. I then put their last name on the side. I used the anchor hocking bake ware and it turned out great. I am really impressed at how beautiful this turned out. Thanks for the info and video!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! This video rocks, and that dial setting guide is exactly what I needed! I wear my blades out rather quick!! Thanks again!
I've done this for about a year. As a teacher, my middle schoolers made Mother's Day gifts with it this year. I've left the Armor Etch on overnight due to large numbers being made, and it really makes no difference than 5 minutes.
Now friends randomly ask me to make things for them to give as gifts. This year, I'm etching small glass jars to hold homemade spiced tea (PiraTea). We are the Pirates.
does anyone know how to add color to etching. would like to do some on mugs but it doesnt show up. also would be nice to add touch of color to the clear glass. great idea with the bakeware by the way~
@wildharemom One of the things I like to do with my etching is to get a light glass stain.
One the glass is etched you would apply the stain before removing the template. the longer you leave the stain, the deeper the color is. So test it first to see how long you leave it. Hope that helps
Yes, I would recommend less time on thinner glass. What you can do is leave etching cream on for five minutes, rinse it off and gently peel back an edge of the vinyl. See how you like it. If you need more, press vinyl back down and add more etching cream. Wait another 5 minutes. Check again.
This is impressive. And much much cheaper than using a laser for etching. I was wondering how even it would come out since you're just slopping the stuff on but it looks like it came out pretty even.
That looks awesome....I just bought my first cricut expression and am waiting for it to be delivered to me and I am learning as much as I can before I get it. I can't wait until I can start doin all these projects....
Thanks for the Video,I am making Wedding Gifts this Weekend, with 9x13 glass pans, but am putting it on the bottom, that reads"BURNT WITH LOVE,FROM TARA &DONOVAN'S KITCHEN. I made sure that I cleaned the glass with alcohol, after I applied the vinyl,so's to remove the oil from your fingers. The etching formula won't etch the parts that are oily.Your tutorials are very good, keep up the good work.

What type of vinyl did you use for this project? I am just wondering if it was the vinyl with the permenant adhesive. Did not get to see how you took off the vinyl ;)
Oh, it's corrosive. BUT it's not immediately corrosive. You just feel a slight itch if you get it on your hands, when they aren't under water. WIth the water running off them, it's really not a problem. But you can be sure I am washing my hands thoroughly afterwards! You could also wear gloves. I just couldn't find any...WHOOPS!
I did this at Christmas for my MIL...she loved it! I did it on Pyrex and left it on for 5 mins. (per manufactures instructions) - Worked great...maybe because I layered it thick?
Some glass won't etch - especially Pyrex! Use cheap glass from Walmart or Dollar Store and leave on a MINIMUM of 10 minutes or even longer. Make sure it is coated very heavily!
Loved the video. Great Job. I was wondering if the etching cream gets old. I did everything just like the video but it did not do any etching on my dish. Any ideas??
I love this idea!! I've done this too, how long did you leave the cream on the the glass? Last time I did it, left if on over night and NOTHING happened! Just wondering. Maybe it was because I used the PYREX type. Thanks for any info.

It was some cheap vinyl for the wall that I picked up at Lowe's. It is NOT contact paper, which would be much more difficult to remove.
