True this isnt a very fast clock for water cooling but is reliable and will bring OC at 3.4 back down to around stock heat so it may not be real fast but it is reliable im sure and that is good to. A 6600 can get 4.0 but not for long (in most cases).
you really need ice water cooling @ 3.375 ? you couldnt clock it to an even 3.4 ? youll be fine with a zalman 9700, and if its still pushing higher than 65C under load then you may have the cpu voltage set higher than you actually need. lower voltage will get you lower temps. many people have reached around 3.7 on just air
hi could you help me out i binstalled my core 2 quad today i have cpuz it only shows 2 cores not 4 do i have to do something in the bios this has go me puzzeld
im thinking of getting the maximus formula for my new q6600, anyone know if the zalman 9700 is a good cooler and will fit on this board? ive heard others say that a part of it hits the northbridge or something
I'm using that exact combination. Maximus Formula + Q6600 G0 version + Zalman CNPS 9700 LED + Antec 900 case. I get 3.6GHz + 1600MHz FSB out of this - 100% stable. Absolutely I had no problems fitting the Zalman on this board. There is a special edition of the Maximus Formula motherboard with water cooling block. I can't say if that water cooling block would cause a problem. But if you want to use the CNPS 9700 you should use the standard air cooled version of Maximus Formula.
how many graphic cards you gonna have? If one or SLi, get the 680i as they are becoming cheaper. But if you want 3-way SLi, get the 780i. either way, both mobo's can handle the q6600
You should be able to get MUCH higher than this on air, much less liquid cooling. Go get yourself some nice equipment and you will be able to go much further.
i dont get why some people prefer having the motherboard like that, with the cables all arround and stuff. but a case for it and nicely fit it in there and avoid the mess.
Alright, my Q6600 G0 will occassionally crash at 3.8GHz with air cooling and standard voltage. But 3.6GHz is still amazing for a setup that in my case runs reliably and doesn't look like some science experiment.
But I should try 3.8GHz with higher core voltage and same air cooling...
I hate to say it but my Q6600 runs at 3.6GHz with air cooling (CNPS 9700 LED) in the Antec 9000 case using Asus Maximus Formula motherboard. And no need for increasing any voltages.
Water cooling...no need with this CPU unless you got an old version or a poor performing one.
I'm interested in knowing why you didn't go past 3.375 with that good of cooling... q6600 is capable of going a lot further on good cooling, especially if it's g0.

I have had my Qx6700 @ 3.8 1.5v On this cooler and ran stable Benched Super pI 1M 13.5s Ran 3d mark 06 13000 and AQuamark3 20750 And everest ultimate report no crashes. 75C Average while benchtesting. 49c idle This on a stepping B3 Chip ! And by the way it Booted Windows @4.0Ghz 1.6v But wasnt stable Because i didnt want to raise voltage anymore .Without ice water!
I cant Brag on the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Enough. It is the best Air cooler I have ever used. I run my Qx6700 b3 Stepping Everyday @ 3.5ghz veryStable 1.4v 43c average idle, Full load at 70c.
Actually the E6700 will perform a lot better in games that don't support multi-threading, but when it comes to encoding and multi-tasking the Q6600 owns. I don't know how well the E6700 overclocked take son the Q6600 overclocked though.
ur better off running a waterchiller setup on it (like me) instead cause its like free ice cubes plus with that u should be able to do more than 3.3 most likely ur divider is done wrong and ur ram is running unstabily causing ur processor to not max out on the oc
Hey dude that is not true... for multithread applications a Q6600 is better but if you dont use applications that can run 4 cores at a time you should better buy yourself a E6850
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
gah you lot are fuck-tards.!
THE Q6600 IS BETTER FOR MULTI-TASKING AND MULTI-THREADED APPS/ENCODING ETC...JUST DAILY STUFF ON UR PC..(NOT GAMES)
THE E6700-E6850 IS BETTER FOR APPS/GAMES WHICH ARE ONLY DESIGNED FOR SINGLE CORED/DUAL PROCESSORS LIKE OLDER GAMES AND A FEW NEW! BECAUSE PER CORE IT HAS HIGHER GHZ THAN THE QUAD HAS PER CORE...SO YEAH SIMPLE...
BUT WHEN THE GAME DEVELOPERS START MAKING MULTI THREADED GAMES THE Q6600(AND THE REST OF THE QUAD CORE "STUFF") WILL COME INTO ITS OWN......
The quad is slower at stock speeds (for now), but you can get it to 3,0Ghz with air cooling not prob at all. It's really worth! And don't worry It's not gonna break at 3,0Ghz, anyway.

Nuker1337 4 years ago
Hmmmm?shouldnt he be at like 4.0ghz or something higher than 3.375ghz.I would be sending something back.
Y2KGTA 4 years ago
It should be on water cooling, I think there is something wrong with his setup.
My specs: (AIR)
q6600, b3 stepping: @3,2Ghz- 1,4v (stable)*
q6600, g0 stepping: @3,5Ghz- 1,4v (stable)*

Nice setup but i don't know if I will like the bucket of ice water next to my computer desk. Just hate to keep adding ice. :)

Actually the E6700 will perform a lot better in games that don't support multi-threading, but when it comes to encoding and multi-tasking the Q6600 owns. I don't know how well the E6700 overclocked take son the Q6600 overclocked though.

not "a lot" but a bit, everyone should go for the quad, definatly better overall.
Serreniah 4 years ago
ur better off running a waterchiller setup on it (like me) instead cause its like free ice cubes plus with that u should be able to do more than 3.3 most likely ur divider is done wrong and ur ram is running unstabily causing ur processor to not max out on the oc

What is better for gaming q6600 or e6700
Pegasusx2o 4 years ago
Q6600 is better than E6700. Because 4 cores perform batter than 2 cores.
AnacoNN 4 years ago
but it has lower ghz
Pegasusx2o 4 years ago
But four cores. The Performance in new games is better than 2 cores.
AnacoNN 4 years ago
How does it work with overcloking? is it dangerous to do that for a long time?
Pegasusx2o 4 years ago
It's dangerous to use it with high MHz. Like 3600-3800 or higher MHz. If you use water cooling you can use it with 3600 MHz daily.
AnacoNN 4 years ago
what if i have Vigor MonsoonTM II TEC Active CPU Cooling Air Conditioner System is that good enough? Do you have q6600?
Pegasusx2o 4 years ago
Could you give me link of your cooler?
I have Q6600
AnacoNN 4 years ago
it wont let me link, type in moonson 2 in google
Pegasusx2o 4 years ago
With your cooler, it works well with 3.0-3.2 GHz
AnacoNN 4 years ago
is E6850 at 3.00GHz better then q6600?
Pegasusx2o 4 years ago
is E6850 at 3.00GHz better then q6600?
Pegasusx2o 4 years ago
no. Q6600 is better
AnacoNN 4 years ago
so with my cooling system i can run it at 3.2 Ghz all day? WHat if ill get a stronger one? And how do i overclock it?
Pegasusx2o 4 years ago
8x450 MHz=3600 MHz ;)
AnacoNN 4 years ago
Hey dude that is not true... for multithread applications a Q6600 is better but if you dont use applications that can run 4 cores at a time you should better buy yourself a E6850

This comment has received too many negative votes show
gah you lot are fuck-tards.!
ArTiCuLaTeDmE 4 years ago
incorrect the Q6600 is an excellent cpu to play games and do other stuff at the same time
wrestlesomnia 4 years ago
Get your facts straight, most new games are supporting Quad/dual core CPU´s.

do u mind if we talk on aim or on WOW about this? If you have wow ill pay u in gold for advice ; )
Pegasusx2o 4 years ago
The quad is slower at stock speeds (for now), but you can get it to 3,0Ghz with air cooling not prob at all. It's really worth! And don't worry It's not gonna break at 3,0Ghz, anyway.
