  • Of course, there are three layers to the shot. Not just the image of his mother under his skull, but the chain of the car coming through Norman's heart. So, there are three actual levels to that shot.

  • anthony perkins face at 1:00 ....still epic after 52 years...a true classic

  • i like psycho but i prefer the birds

  • this movie isn't my favorite horror film. it's my favorite film period. i like all 4 psycho movies. and the vince vaughn one was eh ok.. but it copied this one scene 4 scene

  • he didn't even blink!!!!!!!!

  • That 1 frame with the skull at the end is badass.

  • Wow the only thing scary is a guy grinning scary movies today have really scary shit this is nothin people srry

  • Where do you honestly think today's horror flicks have all come from? The old ones, of course, Nosferatu being one of the first notable films.

  • @tajinandapples scary movies like what saw? oh yeah great plot in that eh? when was the last good horror movie made?

  • Oops, I accidentally found Norman Bates attractive. Help. Maybe it was just Anthony Perkins' incredible fucking acting.

  • Whoa look at 1:00 the fade out they superimposed a weird freaky grin with teeth on his face, even though in the scene he isn't grinning with teeth. Pretty smart subliminal special effects for the old days; I guess that's why psycho is so applauded for its goodness and creepiness

  • @theguyi26 I think that's actually supposed to be the face of his dead mother, showing his split personality, but I agree that it's an incredibly eerie little moment.

  • @theguyi26 The teeth superimposed just for a second, was a special effect Alfred Hitchcock employed a number of times in his films - subliminal flashes - split-second images and colors to suggest certain emotions to the viewer. Norman's teeth are part of the entire superimposed image of Mrs. Bates' skull. If you freeze the film right there, you can see it. When viewing the film, though, it's hard to tell whether you actually saw anything, or whether it was your imagination. Man was a genius.

  • Anthony Perkins, one of the best actors of his time.

  • Poor Norman. ha ha ha.

  • just that sick grin gets me, so genuine, RIP

  • Ugh,I can't even look at him

HE SCARES THE CRAP OUTTA ME!!! D=

  • When your co worker gives you that look, drop your fuckin' paperwork and bolt.

  • Wow, this is perfect! And not only does this piece resemble a psychopath... but it almost sounds like a FLY...

  • you wouldnt even hurt that fryyy

  • you wouldnt even hurt that fryyy

  • thats just a creepy ass smile @1:12

  • This is the definition of mindfuck.

  • "not even gonna swat that fly, they'll see and they'll know and they'll say why she wouldn't hurt a fly." Look in his eyes, he has the look of death in them

  • Dmitri shostaovich? You must mean Dmitri Rascolov

  • now that's what i call a horror movie not like this crap today horror movies of past were known by a well playing set also and not just plot

    norman baits is number 1

  • It's cool how the skull is super imposed on his head as it fades away

  • BATEMANS FATHER

  • This movie is wonderful <3

  • Not gonna lie, Norman Bates is hot. I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH. The scene where his 'mom' kills the private detective really made me jump, haha.

  • Honestly, I think he looks attractive at 1:00.

The shot of his mother is pretty creepy, though. I remember rewinding that part to check if I was just imagining it.

  • pause at 1:03 , IT'S JIM CARREY !

  • See? He wurdnt even hurt uh fryyy -=)

  • I love Shostakovich but this music doesn't fit the scene at all. It is too agitated. Bernard Herman's cue is much more effective - it is slow and chillingly eerie. The Shostakovich you chose is distracting to this scene.

  • The music is scary...only thing about this movie. Rest is dog shit.

  • The scariest part of the entire movie is when he does that smile and for a split second Alfred Hitchcock puts a transparent picture of his mother over him, it's hard to see, but when I was a kid I saw it, and I've never been the same O_O

  • @vitamincity Oh thanks a lot now I saw it. xD

  • this has to be one of the most creepiest scenes in the history of fiflm

  • you wonderful human being, are amazing for putting this video. I applaud you for using Shostakovitch's <3 string quartet beautifully done with Mr.Bates<3 . when it started playing i had the biggest grin on my face! As a adoring fan of shostakovitch, it made the video very well.

  • 1:03 pause quick see mother one last time scares the shot out of me

  • les petites pattes de mouche chatouillent beaucoup surtout sur les paupières

  • this is not the final scene!

    there is no speaking!

  • Psycho brought me here...

  • The part 1:03 is the best. It looks like he's choking himself with the chain nigga.

  • Old Dirty Basterd brought me here. How? "Ima Psycho KILLAAAAA , like Norman Bates!"

  • Hahahah he's crazy

  • Herrmann > Shostakovitch.

    Try Prokofiev instead.

  • he just looks at flie and smile

  • It's so creepy how his face morphs into a skull at the very end.

  • AMERICAN PSYCHO

  • South Park didn't bring me here. Hitchcock brought me here... Hitchcock is better than South Park.

  • south park is repetitive these days

  • Is there a fading picture of a skull there right between the scene of norman and the pulling car?

  • @2109MI yes its probably a representation of the mother and how she 'took over' his mind.

Too bad theres not the monologue

  • the music kinda ruined it for me

  • Ha ha haha south park brought me here too

  • Uh I hate the japanese peopre, they tlyin to shut down my shitty fock, but they never wirr. They'le plobabry arr watching me, the japanese. I'm not even gonna swat that fry. They'rr see and they'rr say: Oh that shitty fock owner, he wourdn't even harm a fryyyy!

  • very creepy music theme. and yes it fits the scene but to us that have seen the original it seems a bit, just a little bit off.

  • South Park didn't bring me here.

  • haha yes! let me hear it from the people that came here coz of south park :P

what a fucking episode that was!

  • este hijo de puta se parece a mi !

  • They think this Sheeti Wok guy wouldn't harm a fry

  • Tuong Lu Kim sent me here

  • south park brought me here too, brought back some memories

  • South Park brought me here.

  • Love the use of fiddle at the end of this movie!!!!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=rxLglN9x8fA

    great homeage

  • He doesn't have to do anything. He is still scary as f*ck

  • I closed my eyes watching this ending scene, so now I'm back here on YouTube to watch what happened LOL!

  • @MichaelJackson0o i closed the sound

  • @stanchrisradu understandable, hahah.

  • Unnerving... I love it

  • umm.... I can understand why you thought the music fit the scene, but I liked the old music better

  • not so good

  • I thought the music fit the scene and it was just for fun. By the way it's not 'crappy' music. It was composed by Dmitri Shostakovich, a well-respected composer.

  • @jhaywood68 I agree with you, I believe it fits perfectly.

The piece is very tense, hinting at some chaos. The minor chords and the almost pleading violins really give the impression of something horrible happening.

And while Norman's smile has haunted me before, it has done so worse now thanks to no vocals. Cheers mate, i might not sleep tonight thanks to you, haha.

  • why on earth would you edit out the amazing internal dialogue for this crappy music?

  • best scene ever
