Thanks for that Gary. I definately won't be rushing along as I am waiting for a knee replacement and have chosen to use by bike as 100 miles is way beyond the capability of my worn out knees. I reckon even on a bike I will set a new, all-time, slow record! LOL! Cheers.
Hi Gary, did you manage to get much wild camping on the route? I know that the South Downs Way is not very good for campers so I can't make up my mind top do it on foot or mountain bike.
I had no problem finding places to camp on the South Downs Way; the problem is finding fresh drinking water nearby. Many sections of the of the Downs are ideal for mountian bikers, but why these bikers rush along I'll never know...Good luck.
