the thing i found most interesting from my studies of mendelian genetics and statistics was that he, more than likely, falsified data with his pea plant experiments. Plus, the chances of picking so many traits that follow traditional mendelian genetics, and none that follow more complex rules is astronomical. It truly is amazing that he was able to discover all this considering everything
@daleb511 Please study his work in greater detail, as I said previously there is a very good reason he chose peas, and that he was looking for underlying laws etc... Once again there was no chance he cheated!!!
@Infloresence I didn't mean to suggest that I don't believe his findings. I very much understand and agree with his work. I mean, how could I not? So much valuable science has developed from it. However, some statistical analysis of his data shows some strange trends. I should not have made the statement suggesting he may have falsified data- that's a bit strong. I was merely trying to point out that some of his data seems too-good-to-be-true. The chances of getting that data are astronomical
I sure that the constraints of such a short video can not do justice to his work, but the major gap is why he was so successful with peas since he was trying to find the underlying 'laws' of inheritance. His success was mainly due to the fact that he was also a very good mathematician and applied statistical analysis to his results. There was no luck involved!!
Colin Tudge's book 'In Mendel's Footnotes' is well worth reading if your interested.
I'm doing my study at Mendel College!!!

My favourite were the animal pictures, and their expressions! Thanks for another great vid also, Brady and Professor Yvonne Barnett.
Thanks so much for putting the prof's names in descriptions now. Muchly appreciated :)

Amazing work that man did! I suppose a monk had all the time in the world, but still.
A bit belated, but; I hope you had a happy St. Patrick's day ;-)
