Why on earth would anyone wanna live in a place like this? I feel bad for my buddy, cause he came from a beautiful Oregon town so his wife can go to school in Hartford. So he has to live there for 3 years. Ouch! I grew up outside of Hartford, and lived there in the early 70s. It was well on its way to being a ghetto dump then and by the looks of this, its arrived. So much important history, it could be on par with Boston or Philly, but, nope, listen to this music and look. A shithole inhabited by criminals.
I was born in Hartford in '79 and grew up in the North end. It was bad throughout the 80's, so we moved to the "nicer" part in the South end in the early 90's. Hartford always has and always will be wild, but despite that, my city is looks towards the future and reinvents itself to compete with "major" cities. I am proud to be from Hartford.

I live in CT and a majority of it is a great place to live - safe, good change of climate, schools exc...But u have to admit that Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport are cities that are poverty stricken and very high in crime. I grew up outside of Hartford, and lived there in the early 70s. It was well on its way to being a ghetto dump then and by the looks of this, its arrived. So much important history, it could be on par with Boston or Philly, but, nope, listen to this music and look. A shithole inhabited by criminals.

I was born in Hartford in '79 and grew up in the North end. It was bad throughout the 80's, so we moved to the "nicer" part in the South end in the early 90's. Hartford always has and always will be wild, but despite that, my city is looks towards the future and reinvents itself to compete with "major" cities. I am proud to be from Hartford.

Now more "disadvantaged ppl" live further out in the city as gentrification happened to the outskirts an suburbs/boroughs are starting to look rough. But when I was growing up downtown used to be ankle deep in trash in places; we used to be one of if not the dirtiest city in America.

@cecidiva Yes it is now again. We usually go back and forth with New Jersey for who is richest. I live in CT and a majority of it is a great place to live - safe, good change of climate, schools exc...But u have to admit that Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport are cities that are poverty stricken and very high in crime. If you remember Hartford all thru the 90's was always 1 of the top 5 highest crimed cities per capita in the country. We had FBI, DEA, state.. called in to deal. little better now.

well Hartford has gotten a little better but all through the 80s to mid 90s it was in the top 5 per capita highest crime cities in the country. It got so bad that the city called in the state polce and the FBI and cleared house. all the gang bangers went to prison. the problem is that they are all out or getting out so its definetly picking up again.
