It ISN'T a Mac. According to Apple's philosophy - its only ugly PC. Veru eseless and it suck. But we all know that PowerMAC brings power of PC for Mac. For only doubled PC price! Wow!
I just bought an iBook g4 a few months ago on amazon, it still runs everything except flash awesomely, plus I just installed a hacked ver. of 10.6.7 on my AMD quad core, and in system profiler it says it has a 53Ghz, yes, Ghz core solo. I thought that was pretty interesting
Ha, I like the thing about the yield sign, pretty funny. I remember when my only Mac was the G4, wow. I thought it was pretty fast and am currently using an imac g4 for my machine downstairs.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with owning PowerPC macs. As an owner of a 2010 mac pro, I make far more use of my G5 than my mac pro in most cases, EXCEPT for heavy duty stuff.
Hmm... I remember a video where you installed Mac OS X (tiger, I think) and you started speaking the words that it said in the little intro video. I can't find it anymore...
@DISTR1CT You can get dual 2.7 for that price. They have a liquid cooling system that will leak and corrode the PSU, so I'd say don't get it unless you know the seller has rebuilt it using high quality O-rings
i thinking of buying a mac witch one should i get - macbook pro 2ghz intel core duo, memory 2gb 667 mhz ddr2 sdram - (make an offer) - Mac Mini 1st gen. 1.25GHz - $100 - PowerMac G5 Power Pc 1.8 ghz processor 4gigs of ram 500 gig Hard Drive Super Drive - $300 (should i try to bring him down on this one)
wow thanks for posting this. it was very informative. i have never witnessed such an ability to remove something from a box and plug it in. i will definitely reference this video when i have a box with an electrical appliance in it, and need to get it out.
@theegrobe Glad I could help. Look for my series of upcoming videos wherein I demonstrate how to change a light bulb, how to make a sandwich, and how to tie your shoes without tying them together. I think that last one will be especially helpful for you. Thanks for watching!
I have a Powermac G5 Dual 2.7 GHZ version. I bought it off eBay in 2008 for $630, I believe. I don't normally buy used computers because I've been building PCs for a long time now, but these Powermac G5s are awesome. You can find them for so little. A friend of mine just recieved his Dual 1.8 in the mail, and he only paid $250 for it. OSX Leopard is fine with me, because 10.5.8 is not a lot different from 10.6.1 in my opinion. Anyways, Macs will always rule the long-lasting world of computing.
hi, i have an powermac g5 that keeps freezing at either the apple logo spinning gear screen, or the booting mac loading bar screen. then the fans turn into a tornado. what should i do? i reseated the ram, wiped the ram, and even tried a different hdd. please help! thanks!
@GOPACKERSJT Yeesh... Sorry to hear. You're probably better off going with used. If you can find replacements. Or maybe a used early MacPro. Sell the old one for parts...
@ThisIsAdamB yea, i originally bought it off of ebay used because my dad needed a newer mac, but he doesn't want intel. So I bought the best PPC. It came not working and the seller put in red lettering "100% working condition" so I will try my hardest to get a refund. I really appreciate all the help.
Ahhh...the PowerMac G5. Simply, Apple's best invention to date. For 2005, where could you find a Quad Core Processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and a 500GB Hard Drive? Nowhere! The design of this machine is also epic, still being the main design of the Mac Pro (except the Mac Pro had some tweaks). My cousin still has one of these bad boys, the Quad G5, hooked up to a 23" Cinema Display and it's just speechless. Apple FTW
Help anyone? My cousin wants to buy his first Macintosh, after using a crapped out 4 year old Dell XPS system. I use a PowerMac G5, and I can tell u that it's great, but he wants to know if this is the right deal. On eBay, there are multiple units with Dual 2GHz, 2-2.5 Gigs of Ram, and usually a 160 or 250 GB hard drive going anywhere from $425-450 USD. What should i tell him? Thank you so much! (His birthday is coming up lol).
something is wrong with my Powermac g5 2.0...after pop out the small black window that you should restart the computer...i did... and but then it pop out the same window again......every time i turn on the computer....it just pop out that window...i try everything but still the same...i put a new hard drive..same thing happen. i change the video card..nothing change..i turn it off-unplug everything for 5-10min..then turn back on....same thing...Please anybody know what happen?
Check your RAM. The kernal panics you're getting are often caused by a hardware issue. Take it all out and put it back in one pair at a time. Start with the original Apple-supplied RAM and work from there. Also try booting from an OS X install DVD.
Thank you...hu???...i take all the ram out and put it back in into the same slot....i turn it on and now this time it doesn't show anything on the screen but it did power on....i will find a way...thanks for your time though..
Why is it that PowerMac G5's are so great? Mine has been running since October 2005 with OSX Leopard 10.5.2 @ Dual 2.0 GHz, 4GB of RAM, and 500 GB SATA Drive. I love it! I am not upgrading to Mac Pro since there is no use!
"And hope there aren't just a pair of cinder blocks in here." "One never knows."
Exactly. Just ask those former workers of MiniScribe who, after being laid off by them, snitched in revenge against their own company for packing bricks in place of hard drives in a scheme by MiniScribe executives.
Mmm, PowerPC...I'm contemplating making my next PC a mac, i think it'll be a refreshing change from the x86 i'm used to. Of course, i have loads of software (including a full set of disks for the Yukon trail!) that would definately not run under Mac OS without Boot camp or something...
Well, i ended up going with a PC and figuring out how to build a custom (LEGAL...Well, it'll be legal once i slap a apple sticker or fruit on it. The liscence just says 'Apple-Labeled'...) mac using the 132 or whatever it is called bootdisk. I'll start ordering the parts for it as soon as i have money.
a mac pro has Xeon Nehalems, those are basically the professional version of the i7, not a waist of money at all. you are still a pc user, not a mac user. you have to have a mac to be a mac user.
the method i want to use doesn't violate the terms and liscences if i put a apple sticker on my PC, because it doesn't require that you modify a setup disk.
I have noticed that your hair changes all the time LOL But seriously, you and Al where the kings of youtube unboxings/geek-ness before youtube even existed ROFL.
