  • Ii love how beautiful this is. (:

not my background but Ii am native..

and Ii think this is breathtaking (:

  • Id get dizzy as hell and bump into everyone haha and they all look so tall in this vid! Atlvquodv! <3

  • no the title is right on my moms side they call it blanket dancing and on my dads they call it fancy shawl it just depends on where you are from

  • awsome that's my heritage and proud of it

  • Can you imagine the stamina it must take for these women to put that much energy into a dance for so long? Amazing, and beautiful.

  • Shouldn't we embrace our heritage, embrace what has shaped us into what we are, but at the same time we should all understand that we are all human and therefore an equal of everyone else, but that doesn't mean we have to be exactly the same.

  • I don't see any backflips, what's up with that? Just kidding indians!

  • @spareaxe Stupid We GAve Yu The CunTry Yu Faggot Its NATIVE Not Indian's FUck Wats Up With White's Calling Us That !!!

  • @SuuperWeirdPeanuts We gave you the country? Anyone born in this country would also be called a Native. Some people call you worse! If you can't take a joke, obviously you must be one.

  • @spareaxe Correction for you ignorance I'm Native American your not anyone born in this country is not native Ex. if your parents are African American you are African American not Native so correct yourself

  • @rezboy1990 That's pure sitting bullshit son. Get a life.

  • @rezboy1990 i agree with you man cause its native american or native canadian which i am so this dude should fix his shit cause thats a good vid but the title is mad insulting

  • @spareaxe If you want to see backflips go to a circus. It shouldn't make any difference what race anyone is, your comment is offensive. You should have payed a little more attention in history class. Troglodyte!

  • @cinderbliss This is good nuff for me.

  • It takes a lot of energy to dance on tip-toe for so long...I remember one time this girl stepped on a rock and it threw off her balance. She ended up spraining her ankle. A couple of older people came up to her and put corn pollen on her foot.

  • Wow, that's really pretty. So is there any choreography to this kind of dance, or do they just go with it? I can't make out any distinguished patterns.

  • @xojennyful Both. There are certain things choreographic features i guess, like stops and some of the moves they do but each choreographs their own or determines what moves they are going to do. From my knowledge, when they do the competitions they do not know the song that is going to be played/sung.

  • @xojennyful There is a basic step to the dance, but the choreography is entirely up to the persons own will. The sangs begin, the dancer not knowing what song, and the dancer will dance according to how she/he feels.

  • The ones in yellow and white ..they are so gracefull..its like they fly...

  • My ex boyfriends sister taught me this dance, it's so fun, but very exhausting!

  • This is why i want to be an american.

  • i Loove Fancy Dancing.

    i Learned Not Long Ago.

    Caame 2 Me Soo Easily.

    i Loove Beeing Natiive !!!!!

  • I'm a jingle dancer, but I still love to dance fast and fancy. Just this night i danced for 4 hours straight at a pow-wow. But I don't have a regalia :(

  • Is this from one particular tribe ?

  • When I was little, I always wanted to do Fancy Shawl because it looked so pretty and elegant! And I got mad because I was in Jingle!

  • im shawling dancer too

  • This is awesome! i love Native americans!

  • Looks all good to me...who won?

  • It used to be that women were not allowed to fancy dance. so many would dress in men's regalia and dance the men's dance. when women started winning the en's competitions it was finally decided that women could create their own fancy dance. The shawl dance is inspired by the moves of a butterfly.

  • Yea crow hop is awesome

  • I love fancy shawl dancing! have since I was a lil tiny tot :P

  • when i was little i was a shawl dancer

  • du hirni

  • Ssst. Great Amsel dance spirit with germain thunderdrum & thunderbird.

  • Gosh man these vids are so awesome, native americans keep your culture alive and thrive!!

  • hey sup ppls am js amazed these ladys can move!!

  • Denetta sure can jam. Those ladies are awesome!

  • Some of the best fancy shawl footage I have seen. Number 685 was killing it. The video is kind of old, but I believe I saw mostly white fancy shawl regalia? I haven't seen that at any of the local powwows - stunning!

  • omg, how do you ven see theis numbers?

  • I am Blackfoot Native American. This looks like a lot of fun!!! Well done!

  • it is VERY hard try it.

  • i love dancing. when im at the powwow im either dancin or eating indian tacos! lol but i do love dancing alot!

  • @kihtoxkwees Indian tacos, what is that?

  • @TheJOANNA84 indian tacos are tacos but indian...the kind that indians like

  • @marisashop But what's the difference between Texmex tacos and Indian tacos. I know there's a difference, perhaps even a great difference. I mean, am I able to make them at home in Sweden and invite my friends?

  • Fry bread is kind of like a funnel cake but it's dough instead of batter. There are recipes online. Some people put powdered sugar in the dough instead of just on top with honey. Indian tacos are just regular taco stuff (beef/Chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese) on top of the frybread.

  • @therealMari1 Lol, frybread is nothing like a funnelcake.

  • @TheJOANNA84 Yea you can. You're basically deep frying dough and that's it. Then put the toppings on it you would normally put on a regular taco.

  • @5starbitch90 It sounds a bit like the hungarian Langos. That's a type of food where they also use fried bread but instead of tacoingredients on top of the bread I belive they have sourcream and cheese on top, but they use other typ of topings as well.

  • @marisashop lol

  • @TheJOANNA84

Indian taco's r fry bread wit meat on top nd any topping u wat...mmm..now I'm hungry.!.l0l

  • @Jobabyfit I'm hungry too. THANK'S

  • I enjoyed watching this. A friend of mine gave me the nickname Butterfly & I used to be a fancy dancer. I remember it being especially hard on my calves and thighs in the beginning. It does take alot of practice. I really miss dancing.

  • i like what they wear its so pretty

  • Its not that hard I have done it, which is awkward because I'm British... And native. So i have a right. Anyway I have been doing this my whole life, keep your feet to the beat!

  • anybody has a right to dance at a pow wow and its not easy...it takes alot of practice and skill to be able to dance the way our people do.

  • I know its not the easiest thing ever... but it is. The thing is I've been doing it since i was three.

  • Im Mexican and we have our traditional aztec(Mexica) danzers, but I personally dont think their half as good as the these ladies here. This video has the best dancing I've seen.

  • Awesome

  • nice dancing . aho

  • This is cool.

The drums kind of remind me of Tahitian (I am NOT saying that they are).

  • Makes my heart dance!

  • 0:44....they dance like Highlanders! excellent! :)

  • Awesome performance!

  • i have been innately doing this my entire life.

  • these chicks are PROS with mad skills.. wish i could dance like this .. the foot work is completely in time with the music ...

  • This is the kind of dancing I do!!!

  • Beautiful. Peace to all.

  • Shall I tell you who freaks me out?

    The Wendigo..

    ITS EVERYWHERE...

  • We are all brothers and sisters in this life and the ones before. Race, color, sex, religion, it makes no difference. We are all bonded together through the great spirits love. Reach out to your fellow human. Be kind to one another.

    ~peace.

  • ojibway way of life is a different life style its not common to others down in the south we dance different and alot better better at hunting we surived the winters here not you wannabes always fled to the south you guys still do

  • dont spend your life being a color or a race, when people ask who you are, dont say im part this part that , just say im human and we are all the same . xxx

  • @goldenmessenger you are an amazing perosn. and you Native? :)

  • @goldenmessenger What i say majority to peoples, it is... I come from a Star, because we all come from to the same star. Voila.

  • @goldenmessenger good words , but dont' forget your culture. Culture is positive. Racial distinctions get ugly.

  • a friend just showed me a video of the MELBOURNE SHUFFLE .. you can find videos of it here on youtube.. and its people dancing much like this.. but to modern electronic music..

  • Beautiful Video! =)

  • wow!!!

  • Apologies for being disrespectful i just get super aggravated when white yellow black and red people give me this stink look when I tell them that I'm part native, it tears my heart out.

    (Wanna eat it?) j/k

  • well if it bothersyou so much stop telling these people,,,it relly isn't any of their business anyways....don't even bother unless its a sincere question...people always puttin their neck on the chopping block and getting mad when no one believes them....it's all good as long as you know know whats up...don't need to be runnin around blurting out your ancestry to anyone that says hi to you....just use that warrior look and give a little nod eh...some people dont know what to do when they se that

  • "I'm part Cherokee, Blackfoot, Comanche"

Yeah, my ancestors did not walk the trail?

    think again.

  • THE REAL AMERICAN

  • I thought the correct term was 1st Nation since the indgenous people were here before there was an "America"

  • im full native American 100% and im 12 years old and i hae been dancing for 4 years straight at every powow! and traditional for 2 years and jingle for 3 months and i teah my younger bro's gass dancing and all of this in a twelve years old life I LOVE IT!!! and wouldnt give up dancing for anything!!

  • The Jews wore shawls with long fringes too!

  • what the hell does that have to do with the price of frybread in Ragina....ayyyyyyee!!! jk....geez wiz i'm always pickin on you huh?

  • Dude Messianic that comment was TOTALLY MORMON ILLUMINATI.

  • Your videos means alot to me. Before I never heard of a powwow, and now im going to many of them and even making regalia. (part cheyenne, cherokee and lakota and anishinabe). Awesome work!

  • yeah right...well one of us had to say it?

jus be careful at those pow wows. don't step on anyones toes.and natives hate hearing " i'm part Cherokee"..we always hear the non indians say" I'm part Cherokee"..I'm jus sayin be careful and don't make a fool of yourself..us guys can spot a wannabe a mile away..jus be yourself and always ask when in doubt

  • I am not a wannabe,I just choose to identify myself with them, because I am part Cherokee.

  • you can just choose huh?...well take a little time to reflect on what i say....you dont have to choose, ok..or ever proove anything to anyone (except the gov or tribal gov when need be). Just dont treat these ways like a hobby.these dances are powerful, have history and meaning. the people i know don't really care if your Native or not. or wether ur an 8th, half or full blood who is jammin out at a pow wow. its when we notice carelessness and disrespect. no matter who u are,

  • you could be the biggest, blackest indian out there..ayeeeeee!!!! recognize ways and rights wherever you jamout at...i'm not speaking on behalf of anyone except for my own teachings.

    Many meegz, many meegz

  • Go ahead, call me a wannabe. I just hate being cherokee because of ppl calling me wannabe. Ive been making regalia for a long time and no ones called me one. That is just why i hate being cherokee! Im no wannabe if you ever met me.

  • If an owl spoke could we hear? Many voices speak, not many hear... Work fills our days and pain fills our ways. Love it is the voice the universe speaks Loudly enough to love But quietly with compassion to teach I will never forget...You are in my heart Sweet friendship. Never will I depart You loved me when noone did When I ran for safety,my heart you hid Friendship in a world so huge.... Dance, love, peace, protect...Be, change, grow, learn-- My beautiful REFUGE
  • Very beautiful :)

  • ever kool!!!

  • LOVE THE DANCE...im indian and we do stuff like this every once in a while

  • uh...heh. .that's something i actually agree with you. i hate the public school system and do view it as a joke. however i also believe that is the feeling of dang near every individual (if not all) whom pass thru it....shit...now what?

  • lmfao, what the fuck!!! 'intellectuallyl and likely physically inferior'? you seriously need help dude. you have one of those fucking nutjob personalities. i may not be a bodybuilder, but I'm quite certain i could kick the shit out of you if the opportunity presented itself...you know what FUCK THAT...meet me behind the swings tomorrow after school! oh wait...since i'm not in elementary school, or high school.(which i presume you're still attending if you haven't gotten your GED yet...)

  • first of all, i never called you a racist, re-read all of my posts S-L-O-W-L-Y...can you read? ask your mom to help you. simply put, i called you an ignorant retard based solely on the fact that you write like one. if you don't want to be stereotyped like an ignorant retard, don't write like one, prove me wrong, write one thing remotely intelligent, something that would prove your point of view, something that isn't completely foolish. i've got a proposal to write and can't waste anymore time.

  • aww...poor retard couldn't afford to go to a proper school? is that the best you can do? ignorance is the lowest form of insult. i'll let you have one more go, just try and offend me. Then it's off to bed with you so your daddy can rape you while you sleep, then you can go on Dr.Phil to bitch about how pathetic you life is...do us all a favor and off yourself already...the world can do with one less piece of garbage on it.

  • ugh...fuck this. i've got better things to do...short version, i win, you lose. i feel so dirty having such a ridiculous argument and participating in this gay flame-war. i'm gonna go write my stupid proposal and work out! have a nice night trying to feel superior to other people.

  • ps...FUCK CANADA, it's not even a real country anyway!

  • stfu dipshit. CANADA ALL THE WAY

  • hahaha, how intelligent. seig heil or whatever...I don't speak white trash. It's people like you that give white people a bad name...maybe that's why damn near all 'minorities' hate you. get a fucking education and pull your head out of your ass you stupid hillbilly.

  • fuck off, why don't you go drink some bear, fuck your sister and watch the gay hockey game, jerk off, fall asleep and get back to your farm work in the morning...fuckin faggot.

  • Say "howah" if you like to see all the native honeys getting down!

    hahaha

  • The White Owl needs to speak....

  • Beautiful dances! Thanks for uploading so more people can enjoy watching them :)

  • Walk the walk,

    Shut the talk.

    Dance the dance,

    Give peach a chance.

  • Ahwahneechee, love your vid. You always have good ones as I've seen others you have posted. I have not checked your videos on purpose but cruise them all when I can and not surprising, if I find them good enough to watch many times, you are the name behind it. Wado. I can't stand how watching a video turns to slaughter of "I'm more Indian than you," or "You're stupid." Good grief, peeps. We are all a product of that which we have been born into, experienced, researched, etc.

  • I'd be scared to run into someone else! heh

  • Native Pride!

    Natives are beautiful people!

  • You got that right sister!

  • aztecs and native americans shall unite

  • we are man we are

we used to rule the north side of america. now it is just that they made a border across our land and pushed us back

  • I wa famous because of dancing like this since I was 2-6 year's old. I was television and in the newspaper, I was also interviewed. I love to dance like this. I am 12 now, I dance infront of some many people, I am proud of my native culture

  • I so know that fast spinner in the white n american flag beaded top- Zelda Elijah/Doxtator...shes/was an amazing dancer.

i so would have been young in this, what year, im guessing 1997???

  • I am one eigth Chickasaw decendant from a maternal bloodline. I asked myself how much of myself is Chickasaw, my hair and eye color, my skin color, my big toe, but after much consideration I figured out it is my sould that is Chickasaw. 100% not 1/8th

  • I like that, thank you. I'm still figuring myself out and wondering who I am and I am 1/2 Navajo, 1/4 Hualapai, and 1/4 Hidatasa. If what we know on earth in these human forms has us deceived, then I know my soul goes beyond what we're born into.

  • i'm a fancy shawl dancer and im asking how long ago was this ??

  • 1997 Old school, lol

  • WOW! Beautiful! All the beautiful shawls, and the dancers! I want to go to a dance or a powwow someday. I'm proud to have even as little as 1/6th blackfoot in me. Absolutely beautiful!

  • You will dance , if you really feel it, it will happen. You have to start somewhere, blood count dont matter, its what the heart n soul feel.

If you can walk, you can dance...I hope you do one day, its the most perfect spiritual experience you will ever have-I PROMISE☺

  • True! I also have the wish of being a dancer, maybe even as skilled as these women...Thanks for the little push.

I love it, I am part Cherokee. I used to take my family to Pow Wows in South Florida. Now more Pow Wows since the Casinos came in. This is a beautiful memory for me of Pow Wow's past. Culture, music, celebration and unity. Thanks for the memories. God Bless!!"

What part of you is Cherokee? Your Arm? Your Leg? You are either Cherokee or you are not. I am of Irish/Cherokee Descent, but I am 100% Overhill Cherokee.

  • if ur 100% Cherokee then how can u be Irish to???

  • Why the malicious retort?

Finding things that you love about different aspects of your heritage... what's wrong with that?

    Stop being a bigoted ass.

  • Oh how I miss doing this stuff. I Fancied for years and slacked off to have my son, but never really got back into it. This makes me want to dance again. Maybe after this son I will get back in shape and start dancing and introduce my boys into the circle along with my husband.

Thank you for posting this, it is an inspiration to me.

  • Beautiful!

  • I love it, I am part Cherokee. I used to take my family to Pow Wows in South Florida. Now more Pow Wows since the Casinos came in. This is a beautiful memory for me of Pow Wow's past. Culture, music, celebration and unity. Thanks for the memories. God Bless!!

  • chavolokiyo1? What the HELL are you trying to say?Ancient Spaniards were Celtiberians,A mixture of Celtic and Iberian cultures. You may rest assured my people,The Sierra Miwok are NOT related to Mexicas. My Ancestors fought and contained the Spanish and their enslaved Aztecas.Ever notice how many missions are on the coast?.Yes,We are all native and No,My people aren't some offshoot of any Mexica tribe. If you are going to post,at least make sense!
