Battlefield 3 - Quick match/party system not working Avast PC fix

On consol you quickmatch is soo random, I really like battlefield but getting 20 quickmatch join fails before you actually get in to a game is just fucking shit.

I am getting the exact some problem (matchmaker forever and cannot get invites) but I am using Norton Antivirus. I can't seem to find a web shield option for this, has anyone found a solution to it?

I just turn my firewall off completely to fix it. I know it can be a pain, but until I figure it out, that's the only solution at the moment. Oh and if you tell it be off for "X amount of time" it can boot you mid game if it turns on while playing.

only thing i found that works is going to web shield, expert settings, main settings and check on " scan traffic from well-known browser processes only" so far it has worked for the quickmatch option. Hoping I get a better solution from avast.

I had hoped this issue would have been fixed by final release but the only 100% solution is still turn off the web shield (you dont need to disable windows firewall). Many forums have suggested different URL's to add to the exclusion list but none work so far. I tried to discuss this problem with EA live support but they are complete fucking idiots. I have sent an e-mail to Avast discussing the issue, ill update you as i try to get this properly fixed. Woulfe

Thank you SO much for the solution to this... I never got invites to games and Quick Match didn't work. I did what you recommended with Avast, and suddenly Quick Match worked (so I guess the invites should work, too). I googled the heck out of this issue and I found that very helpful video. thx for the heads up, ill have to turn mine off. I make it into the game and play about 5 mins and then it freezes. I have to press Ctrl and delete to close the screen and the it says your program stopped working? any ideas? any thought? ill try the anit virus but any thought would be great seems like you know your shit.

Disabled my antivirus, forwarded the required ports, disabled UPnP, tried every web browser known to man and this garbage still won't run (Generic Error : 1). I'd also suggest downloading the latest AMD driver for the game. Go to their website )(amd.com) and follow the prompts.

if any of you are running comodo antivirus software, you need to switch it to 'Game Mode' for the beta to run smoothly. do this by right clicking the icon on the taskbar and selecting game mode. Hopefully helped someone out :)

Press the Windows Button and R at the same time.

Type in "services.msc"

Find the service "SSDP Discovery" (its nothing important),

right click and chose to stop it.

I hope that helps.

@AssAssin00009 have you tried turning off your windows firewall? i have had this error a couple of times but its often been solved by just searching for a server again or restarting everything, do you get this only on quick match or on servers joined over the server browser too?

@ACESHIGHEDITING make sure you have closed down battlelog, exited your browser and exited origin before starting it all up again, it needs to refresh before it realises the web sheild isnt still blocking it

Thanks! This fixed mine right up! If you're running Norton, on your main settings page down in the Web Protection block there is an option for Browser Protection, turn this off.

where did you get the beta from? i tried origin but that doesnt work ... ?

@TheWarDusT you download the origin client and go to the store page, should be a banner saying battlefield 3 beta, you download it from there

@xXTheWoulfeXx i did and that i downloaded it for 2h , so it comes in MY games yea, you got to click :install. i do and there wont happen anything.. and it says you got to be logged in as administrator ?? you need EA acc or something?

@TheWarDusT well you need an origin account but to even get to the point of downloading the game you will have already logged into origin with your origin account, my old EA account turned into an origin account, got an email about it couple of weeks ago.

@TheWarDusT also by defualt origin is installed into the C:/ drive so installing any games means you need to be on the administrator account on your computer
