I don't think it's bad that he spits over samples. Look at Plan B's paint it blacker. By changing the context you make it your own. It's part of a postmodern culture, everything feeds off everything else. Personally this song is not my cup of tea, I think his lyrics are a bit clumsy.

It's not the Cure but that doesn't stop it being a good track! It's a great sample. You may not like the idea of taking a backing and adding to it but he' also not ripping off the Cure just paying homage. Accept it for what it is, a great track with intelligent lyrics. I would rather have more like this than some of the rubbish that passes for new music.

Hip hop is a whole genre based on sampling other songs and fitting breaks and basslines beneathe it to add your own style to a track you obviously already like.

think about it like this, though some people will see this as 'murdering the original' others will see it as a rebirth of the original, im sure theres plenty of people who didnt like the original track, but like this..

..and i think its good that way, the more ppl enjoy the music the better.. surely?
