I know a lot of people who were spanked when they were kids and they are well adjusted, terrific people. I do hear the argument that Black Families have been destroyed because of the lingering effects of slavery because the man had been taken out of the household. I don’t totally disagree with this statement I do think that it is noteworthy that as recently as 1960, three-quarters of African Americans were born into a family of a married couple. During the days of slavery a black child was more likely to grow up living with both parents than he or she is today.

Bad example. Over 90% of the Africans captured and enslaved were teenagers. Roots illustrated that very accurately. The biggest and strongest male slaves were valued and not killed randomly. If you do the historical research you'll find the Black family was stronger than ever after slavery. Therefore slavery hasn't affected the Black family as you would suggest. A better example of how slavery has affected us is like being in a 1 mile race and your competitor has a half mile lead on over you.

I do hear the argument that Black Families have been destroyed because of the lingering effects of slavery because the man had been taken out of the household. I don’t totally disagree with this statement I do think that it is noteworthy that as recently as 1960, three-quarters of African Americans were born into a family of a married couple. During the days of slavery a black child was more likely to grow up living with both parents than he or she is today.

yes the concept is true, but women have to be strong because the men won't step up. Not in slavery, but today. In the old days which was closer to slavery than now the black men use to respect their women. Today which is farther away from slavery the black men mistreat and not standing up and doing what he needs to do. Its like its getting worst the further we get from slavery....

There has always been those in bondage, or slavery. Even in the days of Jesus, there were slaves. We were all once equal (Adam and Eve's days) until envy and jealousy took a role. No matter the beat down and emotional hardship a people go through, you shall never allow someone to take your manhood! Women are only stronger because we feel as if you men need us to be. There has never been a man who really wanted to be with a weak-minded or weak-willed woman. Thanks for posting this!

the white man used slavery to prop himself up into the upper echelons of financial well being and status, then the slaves got demonized and set free as the whipping boys of america. now they control the system we live in and our women tell us we're not men cuz we don't have control over our own lives, they do.
