No one is saying she can't sing or that she is not signing live, but certain parts she lip sync. you're not suppose to be able to tell, that's the whole point of it. @lathanregintree yeah, she does move the mic away, and you can tell she's hitting a high note also because of her expression, but for example at 2:03 she hits an E5 and she looks quite relaxed. Saying she's lipping isn't a matter of hate, it's just a matter of fact.

I tend to agree with Ivan though because you can't hear her take breaths nearly as often as she would need to to sing this song as well as she did... Mariah probably has amazing breath support but I don't think God himself could sing this song only taking a few short breaths.

i think the problem most people have with her lipping is that it's pretty frequent nowadays, it's not just when she's tired or hoarse. or rather, it seems that her voice is tired or hoarse almost all the time now. the fact is that her voice seems to have taken a permanent dip in quality. did you see her performance at obama's inauguration? not lipped and totally live, and she was utterly struggling. many singers are able to maintain their voices for decades; mariah's burned out pretty quickly

if you listen to the original song and this performance u can tell that she is not lipping. she cuts off her run when clearly if it were lip synched it would still have played while her mouth wasnt moving and then the ending was totally different from the original song. Guys, I love MC, I'm a huge fan but I really know when she lip syncs and...really this whole thing is lipped. It's not the cd version because they cut off some parts of the song to make it look believable. They just take off some parts and the rest is the cd version, the exact version. It's not a problem, I'm a big fan but this is a reality which doesn't hurt anybody. She usually has pre-recorded versions that she plays while lipping so it's more real, it's still lipping, but more sofisticated.

Honestly, if this is lipped...then the times she shows real emotion are perfectly timed to the end she breaks off the note which is too much of a coincidence for me...but I do think at the LEAST she was singing along...her expression and the sound aren't THAT flawless (again, maybe recorded live then played back)...thnx 4 da shoutout!
sorry to disagree here, but there are times you can tell it is clearly live...@ 2:10 and after how she sings a bit behind the music as breathing is more difficult from the belt and @ 2:23 "you're mine" chokes off just a tad from her emotion on the note. There is no doubt in my mind that this woman can sing her ass off. here is my problem. mariah carey set a standard for herself back in 1990. that standard was compared to whitney houston. in that time, that was the highest of the high. now, here we are in the BUTTERFLY ERA, 7 years later and she has the nerve to lip-sync? 7 years, you still have a long way to go. she needs to stay at home if she cant give a full vocal performance. she is lucky that her fans are really simple-minded. they think she is perfect. ive been a fan since 1990 and i know better.

Are you throwing shade to Mariah and the lambs, or just trying to promote Whitney through this video? Sorry...can't tell. I'd hate to remind you, but even Whitney lips here and there. Obviously not as much as Mariah, but whats the shame for taking some vocal rest if she's sick, hoarse, or just can't plain out sing. I'd rather hear a studio track then a mess.

i think the problem most people have with her lipping is that it's pretty frequent nowadays, it's not just when she's tired or hoarse. or rather, it seems that her voice is tired or hoarse almost all the time now. the fact is that her voice seems to have taken a permanent dip in quality. did you see her performance at obama's inauguration? not lipped and totally live, and she was utterly struggling. many singers are able to maintain their voices for decades; mariah's burned out pretty quickly

if you listen to the original song and this performance u can tell that she is not lipping. she cuts off her run when clearly if it were lip synched it would still have played while her mouth wasnt moving and then the ending was totally different from the original song. HONESTLY. She does lip sometimes mostly on her upbeat songs. but her ballads are more than likely LIVE. if u also listen u can clearly hear her breathing

Guys, I love MC, I'm a huge fan but I really know when she lip syncs and...really this whole thing is lipped. It's not the cd version because they cut off some parts of the song to make it look believable. They just take off some parts and the rest is the cd version, the exact version. It's not a problem, I'm a big fan but this is a reality which doesn't hurt anybody. She usually has pre-recorded versions that she plays while lipping so it's more real, it's still lipping, but more sofisticated.

lol hey LG! Well, after careful review I think that it was recorded live (it is obviously not exactly like the CD version) played back with a bit of wiggle room. Honestly, if this is lipped...then the times she shows real emotion are perfectly timed to the end she breaks off the note which is too much of a coincidence for me...but I do think at the LEAST she was singing along...her expression and the sound aren't THAT flawless (again, maybe recorded live then played back)...thnx 4 da shoutout!

sorry to disagree here, but there are times you can tell it is clearly live...@ 2:10 and after how she sings a bit behind the music as breathing is more difficult from the belt and @ 2:23 "you're mine" chokes off just a tad from her emotion on the note. I mean, it's Mariah and I've heard her live twice...she sounds BETTER live than on cd (has to be experienced)

There is no doubt in my mind that this woman can sing her ass off. In fact, she is my most favorite singer ever and I will literally fight over Mariah, but the majority of this performance, if not all, was lip-synced lol. But everyone knows that she is amazing so thats ok. I just hate when ppl think that she can't sing and when she sings live they think she's lip-synching for whatever reason.
