  • I admire his honesty about Sid. Sid was useless.

  • like his hair at the interview at 5 minutes.

  • more +-+

  • He isn't unemotional about Sid's death. He's just looking at it realistically, as it really was.

  • ●911 Inside Job and Hereafter (Modified) by richardkoshimz

  • After the bit at 11.02, she should have asked him why then did they have their own magazine paid for by their manager naming the bands 'so far' in the movement, and so OBVIOUSLY manufacturing a scene, the make up, the look, way back in 1976? Funny that :)

  • For a split secont I thought they guy at 0:17 was Johnny Rotten, I almost died....

  • what an arrogant ass. sex pistols was the first punk band??? how about stooges, new york dolls, ramones, clash?? sid didn't contribute to the success of the band?? any residuals rotten gets today from the sex pistols is at least partially from sid vicious' press coverage. w/o his image, the band could be long forgotten by now. instead, it still sells tshirts at hot topic.

  • he didn't say they were the first punk band. did you not hear him say they were an entity unto themselves and didn't view his band as part of punk? he's speaking truths. lots of bands did follow after the sex pistols. there you go talking about media bullshit and non realities, image, tshirts.. what the fuck does that have to do with music? i like sid but he had zero impact on their music. they won't be forgotten because they recorded one of the most influential records in the history of rock.

  • @roejogan8 he says the sex pistols came first, and then there were a few hundred crap bands that came after. so, basically, he's saying he was the first band to influence punk. in reality, sex pistols was an industry-built image-- johnny was part of that. it sickens me that he would speak ill of sid (talent or not) because a)he's DEAD, and...

  • he has also said a lot of GOOD bands came after that as well. no, not punk. the punk movement and scene. he's said b4 that their sound was really close to funhouse by the stooges. so you're wrong, he never said they were the 1st band to influence punk. they are arguably the most influential and important though. one of the most anyway. an industry built image? john created his own image. he had his clothing style and attitude in place before he even joined the band!

  • @roejogan8 b)without all the exposure that sid (alive and dead) brought, subsequent bands (even new ones forming today) may not have heard of them, and be influenced by them.what good is good music if no one hears it? thanks to sid, EVERYONE has listened to the record of a short-lived band. yes, the record itself was good- but do u think kids today would even have heard of it w/o sid? my guess- not unless they were looking for it specifically. rotten comes off disrespectful and arrogant as hell.

  • u really consider calling someone talentless an insult? i've been called worse than that by close friends, which john was to sid! he called him his best friend. thanks to sid everyone has listened to their record... haha! he didn't even play on the record or have anything to do with the songwriting. kids today don't deserve to hear that record. or pil's stuff. if you're into good music, you'll find those records on your own and for the right reasons. you forgot to add talented and intelligent...

  • @roejogan8 so true bro. thanks for the input

  • @roejogan8 now ur just arguing semantics. if johnny doesn't come off as an arrogant ass here, then u urself must also be an arrogant ass. if u don't find it disrespectful to insult someone who is supposedly your friend, and is dead so they can't defend themselves, then u must be an asshole, too.

  • @trickpanda sid's contribution was selling the band t-shirts and being a poster boy for fated youth. it's foolish and shallow to view that as precedent over the music. the rise of punk is a pretty big deal. if you disagree, you're appreciation for music is quite low. they can be traced back from many bands and a plethora of styles/genres. new wave, post-punk, riot grrl, nirvana, black flag(hardcore punk), noise rock, cowpunk, dance punk, punk blues, sludge metal can be traced back...

  • @trickpanda alternative, no wave, indie... the list is endless. their contribution is far-reaching.

  • Sid wrote Belson was a Gas correct?

  • Poor Sid, Lydon was merciless; today maybe he'd be less so. People forget that there's a Sid Vicious album, Sid Sings, live in New York '78, backed by Johnny Thunders, guys from The Clash, etc.. and it's much better than most "Punk" records. He had the attitude, the look too, & you can tell seeing the videos of C'Mon Everybody, Somethin' Else & My Way. His bass-playing by the end was just about acceptable on a good night

  • One thing NO ONE can ever accuse Rotten about is being dishonest. Like he said, some people may not want to hear this but it's the truth.

  • they like the pale shadows, not the real thing

    hahaha so true

  • But he's telling the truth about Sid. Sid was an image not a talent. He didn't even play on the records and his bass was unplugged often when they played live. They just put him in the band because he looked cool and the manager wanted him to live up to this rebel image and Sid was more than willing to oblige, which was sad really. It was the end for him after that. People blame Nancy, and she was a black cloud, but Sid made his own choices and he wanted to be self destructive and immortalized

  • Very true, just like Elvis Presley.

  • Apparently in his childhood Sid was quiet, clever and shy, and then when the punk movement kicked off, he took his chance and adapted his personality to an extreme, starting fights and becoming more violent, although some people would argue that the nickname "Vicious" was irrelevant, according to the book "Sid Vicious, No one is innocent"

  • According to real life Sid was a good laugh, into Bowie and into looking good, wasn't vicious and had a really naive honesty. It was obvious to him and his friends the truth was one of the strongest weapons out there and it took a good while before that all got ruined... No one is innocent or we all are...MtD

  • johnny looks so normal! he's so cool!

  • Such hostility even after all those years. fuck me! what arrogant statements to make about Sid; of course he can say so, because Sid is unfortunately unable to give a rebuttal. Rest in pieces Sidney

  • even though Sid really wasn't much at all, I still would have liked to know what he was like before he met Nancy and did all the drugs...

  • Sid did the drugs before he met Nancy.

  • reds not his color.. haw haw but naw johnny your too great.

  • I know eh, makes him look pretty pale, but he is still awesome!

  • i agree with you.

  • I know eh, makes him look pretty pale, but he is still awesome!

  • @CarcassInhaling Are you kidding? XD He looks too odd with anything else besides red and brown imo

  • sid vicious johnny rotten steve jones i paul cook sa super

  • fuk all u rotten haters!!! johnny rotten=tha king ov fukkin rockin roll... if u dont think so???? u need 2 go back 2 skool... sukkazzzz!!!!

  • you have serious issues. but dont flipp out, i agree johnny is very admirable.

  • wow not to sound like a groupie but I love his hair in this one

  • igual.. ufff, q fuerte, eh. hay q digerir toda la parte de sid.

    pesutti

  • john, te quiero tanto. gracias x todo; no esperes demasiado de estas sociedades consumistas imbéciles modernas.

  • its not in lydons nature to be politically correct but he is on the opposite end of the spectrum to racists.

the people who cant see the differance have become overly sensitive and their view is as warped as fuck!

  • He actually looks good in this one. Hands down.

  • I leave a little auto-decision open when he says "completely talentless". It may be true, but Im curious to know how hed respond if one asked 'were you wholly talented'. he may answer with well I wrote the songs didnt I? But he also said Sid was completely tone deaf again-not sure. His voice really wasnt so bad, he did good with the one rockabilly ditty he sang, and a few others. IMO Johnny had a strong very unique performer talent and free form poetic mind with words-but he closes Sids door(?)

  • WHAT official website?

  • errr.... it's music, music is art, it's subjective and it's free to believe in it.

if you don't, thats a pitty

But don't just say he's a racist, that only shows how limited you are in thinking

  • @SystemCollapse789 i read the interview. sorry to break it to you but italian culture IS incredibly racist as rotten said. it isn't to say individual italians are racist, but the italian government continues to perpetuate racism with their backward immigration laws. on the flip side, i get that 'eyetie' is a derogatory term, and he shouldn't have used it

  • John Lydon = the most intelligent human being on Earth.
