  • Is this better than MXR Carbon Copy ?

  • @valentin80 More of a matter of taste. Both are great pedals.

  • Mad repeats, yo.

    Ha ha, I like PGS.

  • this is my next purchase!

  • zep again....u rock

  • Loving the sound of this pedal but i live in Australia so there is no way to try before i buy so just wondering, how does it cope with real heavy distortion like that used in metalcore songs?

  • The song he plays in the intro is Bent light by Praxis

  • What song was the first slide lick he did?

  • hagstrom =D

  • crap that hand in the begining scared me

  • moar praxis

  • Once I get enough money, i'm totally buying this.

  • which delay pedal would you reccomend, this Deep Blue Delay, or the Ibanez Analog Delay? i had the ibanez one, unfortunately it got stolen at a gig. i liked the pedal, but this one sounds great aswell.

  • Mad repeats, yo x] Oh PGS, how I heart thee :D

  • @ciadude2 I'll second this; someone let us know what the song is?

  • you'd have to slap me with this box to convince me its not analog, it sound close to the boss DM-2

  • Buckethead reminds me of my highschool years, riding around the suburbs after class....ya know.....

  • how did you do that at 4:00? Ive never heard anything like that before!

  • @tylerdwells With a slide, yo.

  • @tylerdwells Get a slide and start sliding it on the strings over the pickups, off the fretboard. And then slide down towards the nut. It's just some slide work. But the Mad Professor effects sound groovy!

  • @leozingy Coincidence that I bought a slide yesterday? I THINK NOT!

  • @tylerdwells Yes indeed! Andy moves in mysterious ways... :D *cough_guitar god_cough*

Anybody know what cables he uses?

  • @leozingy that's exactly right :-)

  • "Mad Repeats, Yo" lmfao

  • The opening lick is Interworld and the New Innocence

  • @BoxenstienMusic Thanks heaps!

  • That new line is made in China?

  • WTB a CB version of the Sweet Honey already!

  • I can't attest to the PC version, but the standard Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay is the single best delay pedal I've ever used. The only other one I'm currently using is a EH Memory Man modified to BJF specs.

  • @ciadude2 its interworld and the new innocence

  • The buckethead intro song sold me onto this pedal.

    But what song is it?

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos I thought is was $195 on your site.

  • @DSilvergun Yes, our previous comment was a typo. The non handwired version of the Deep Blue Delay is $195, still much cheaper and for the same exact circuit.

    -PGS Crew

  • great as usual

  • hey andy, my guitar guru, whats the difference in tone between the handwired one and this pedal, does the "lower" price of this one sacrifies the performance of the product ?

  • @BoKaUm88 - No difference that we noticed. Same circuit and components, just mounted on a circuit board (rather than handwired) for ease of manufacturing. We have a video of the handwired version as well, if you'd like to compare for yourself. Officially, Andy likes this pedal a lot.

    -PGS Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos The handwired ones have around 600ms delay time, the pcb one was adjusted down to 450ms because the handwired one would distort when some users maxed both delay and level

As for components.. The handwired ones had PCBs too, but the switches and jacks were chassis mounted in a Swedish (like me) ELFA enclosure whereas the CB versions have board mounted jacks and switches in a regular hammond-style enclosure that isn't as heavy

    Hope this helps :)

  • I have a zero tolerance policy concerning Buckethead. That said this delay sounds awesome. The zep stuff is killer.

  • Andy, keep playing Buckethead stuff. More people need to be aware of him.

  • Wow, the slide part of Led Zep's "What Is and What Should Never Be." I never considered that it may have delay on it. I always paid more attention to the slide.

  • hey Andy is that your super swede in the background? great duo of pedals and great playing.

  • what is the intro song????????

  • Mad Repeats Yo.

  • some buckethead influence there!

  • My 2 fave Mad Professor pedals you just can't get a bad sound out of either.

  • love the intro on this one!!

  • This is deep.

  • Both the OD and the Delay box sound epic. Both are definitely going on the list of future purchases, the delay especially.

  • what is the first thingg?

  • This has to be the trippiest delay pedal I've ever heard.....sweet

  • "MAD REPEATS, YO" .. priceless!

  • which knob dials in more seagull again?

  • @staplesmcjebus That's an internal control. You have to remove the backplate to access it.

  • @staplesmcjebus serious question though...

  • since when did PGS stop screening comments? It might be a good idea to keep doing that.

  • 1:10 hagstrom guitar! kickass!

  • The Jam around 5:20..

Can someone please tell me some artists that play in that style? Tnx. I only know Brian Sezter and Danny Gatton

  • @BlisterOnTheMoon Chuck Berry, Of Course!

  • @BlisterOnTheMoon checkout: Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode on Youtube :)

  • @xboxnissan I know him ! =D But i don't find him in that style.

  • @BlisterOnTheMoon

    Junior Brown.

  • 2:50 sounds familiar, what is it?

  • @mescaliiiiine hey man finally did u know what song is it?

  • SWEEEEEEEEEET intro, Andy!

  • what is the song when you first engage that Sweet Honey OD?

  • 4:03 Hey that´s LED ZEP What is and what should never be solo!!! amazing dude!!!

  • Sounds pretty damned good! The original Deep Blue is still my FAVORITE delay pedal of all time. Mine is # 36.

  • INTERWORLD!!!!!!!!!

  • sweet bucket binge!

  • The opening lick is Buckethead! yes!

  • @danitz56 Which song?

  • @danitz56 which song?!

  • Let swill have a freakin' opinion. He wouldn't have to defend himself if others would mind their own damn business.

This is the best sounding analog delay I've heard. Thumbs up.

  • youre killing my pc speakers.......... i like the sound.

  • Whats that song in the beggining? i know i know it...

  • @pollin Praxis - The Interworld and the New Innocence

  • if only i had the 338$ for the deep blue :( sucks being poor

  • this is the hands down best review i've ever seen on pgs, respect andy!

  • meh...liked Andy's playing more than the pedal

  • Andy is genius, and so is that pedal, that is all. ;-)

  • Buckethead! Yeeah :) Awesome stuff

  • Buckethead!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSS!!!!!!

  • Great. Another delay pedal that shoots itself in the foot with ridiculously short delay range. Pedals take up board real estate. 450ms of delay does not merit a space. The pedal sounds good but would it have killed them to make the range 800-1000ms? Probably not. These builders need to get it through their heads that these short delay pedals have few uses and are completely relegated to one task. This is what happens when engineers, not players, make decisions.

  • @swill9000 So buy a different pedal.

  • @RaidenNoKishi Wow. Incredible advice. Let me guess: you are a well known and sought after equipment consultant whose forte is designing unique and ingenious solutions to guitarists' problems. I, and many others, salute your acumen and hope you remain an integral part of the commentators on YT.

  • @swill9000 Thanks, man. I needed the laugh.

  • @swill9000

You're the one that comes off as a prick man. Many MANY players will not need a longer delay time. Also, this style of delay gets darker and darker as the delay gets longer so you'd be in muddy muddy waters with too long a delay time.

  • @swill9000 you are cool because you said "acumen" and spelled youtube YT.

  • @swill9000

if this is analog (which idk if it is), they usually have short delay times. If you want lots of delay time, go for digital.

  • @swill9000 People like me like SERIOUSLY long Delay. It sounds very very cool, with some high pitched reverb as well.

  • @swill9000 I somewhat agree with you - but you do need a short slap as a dedicated pedal no matter what else you have - so stop being a douchebag and talking crap about engineers. How do you know these guys aren't players? You don't. Would it have "killed" them. No. But it might have killed everything else about the pedal that sounds good.

  • @moucon Hey, did I call anyone names? Suggesting design over purpose is not being a douche bag. Engineers design 99% of all effects. But you don't see Bob Bradshaw playing many shows now do you? I guess you skipped the part where I said the pedal sounded good. Talking crap is name calling. And another thing... Wait, wait a second. I hear a little girl whining. Oh sorry, ITS YOU.

  • @swill9000 Long delays are useless. They are only used for making post rock crap like Godspeed you black emperor, and Explosions in the sky. The best delays are short and clean. look at Grizzly bear, all there songs use very short delay and it sounds awesome.

  • @gree17 If this a joke, it's a bad one.

  • @gree17 Who are you to say what's crap and what's not? Go gently fuck yourself. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @mescaliiiiine btw thanks for saying "gently", I don't wanna hurt myself. It makes me happy knowing you care. :)

  • @gree17 Yeah, that's like a painter saying certain types of blue are useless. You must have a limited imagination.

  • @gree17

    Post Rock > You.

  • @swill9000 Such strong words for just one pedal. Not everyone wants to be The Edge dude, your preferences don't speak for the whole world. And the whole thing about engineers...yeah...I studied that field, and most people I knew who were engineers, play an instrument. I played guitar for years before I considered it, and honestly, I'd prefer an engineer to oversee the process of building a pedal because they have trained their ears to differ between frequencies better

This is a good pedal to me!

  • @swill9000 - When digital delays are extended beyond 500-600ms range heavy filtering is required to filter out the resultant clock noise in the circuit. This filtering results in tonal compromise. Companies like Mad Pro and Earthquaker have chosen to make shorter, analog-style digital delays with no tone-suck filtering, rather than longer delays that don't sound as good. Most players don't use long delays anway. If you want that there are plenty of other options. Don't be a bitch.

  • @swill9000 Which is funny, because in my personal preference, about every delay setting in this video was too long. So I'm a player, not an engineer, and I like the tone of this delay, and it has plenty of range for my uses. But, I guess I must be wrong.

  • Nice Jonny Greenwood effect at the end.

  • Awesome, AWESOME choice of intro song there Andy.

  • @rurounichicken what is the intro song?

  • ahhhh, what is and what should never be solo FTW!

These demos can be misleading. Andy makes EVERYTHING sound good.

  • Mad repeats, yo!

  • anyone know what instrument cords he uses?

  • @miknow13 i'm not sure about the cable between the pedals .. but i think the others are core x2 cables .

  • is that sweet honey getting a review next :D ?? !! PGS and Andy always hook up the goods .. 'Mad Repeats Yo' .

  • thats one of the best delays iv ever herd damn thats fine, and the tail on it is so amazing

  • Great review! This tests are getting quite impressive!

  • If andy gets any better he'll cure cancer
