  • About forty years ago, smoking was ubiquitous. In buildings, public places, just about everywhere. Both my parents smoked and it was hard to get to sleep with that stench in the house. When I find myself in that rare situation you were in, it makes me appreciate how much better it is now that most places are smoke free.

Still it can be unbearable though.

  • you're so beautiful...<3

  • Then go sit somewhere else...

    winge winge winge winge ...

They probably don't like the smell of you...

    Get a life....

  • Sure we get more used to it but this vid captures the nerve wrecking feelings we all experience and for that I love it. & it's cute when you say you can't be yourself. *pout* ... :) Hugs

  • Olga I love this video cuz It's funny in a way. Being that it was almost three years ago now and you were talking to your computer which people REALLY didn't see happening as much as they do now. You have the whole shifty eye thing going on which clearly exemplifies all the emotions all we Lifecasting/Video making people feel and have to get though when we turn on our cams in public.

  • i was born in moscow. :D

  • Which airport was it? Domodedovo?

  • ra2009 - all Russians doesn't like that fack! And talking about it and none hear them and doesn't want to do anythink to solvv anything! I think selfcriticism is a normal thing ^ ^

  • poshla na xui dura

  • I'm from Europe, but I lived in the US for the past 12 years. I grew up with everybody smoking, pretty much everywhere I went. Two years ago I flew to Frankfurt, Germany and I was shocked when I saw the smog over the city, and everything stank of smoke. People also got to smoke inside the airport.

Thank god I'm back in WA state and don't have to deal with that anymore...I don't know how I dealt with it while growing up. :(

  • i was born and raised in Washington and i smoke wtf is wrong with it.

  • dyraki, eto shytka.... ( and she is russian)

nah, they could bust you, dont try this if you dont want to :)

but as i think, the weirdest thing wasnt talking to your computer, but spinning it around :)

  • Hello fellow Russian!

  • Did you say "Fuck it"?

That's the first time I heard you curse. ;)

  • You've been in California so long you are no longer used to cigarette smoke. That's how I feel when I go into a Vegas casino.

  • In Russia, noone cares about anyone else, they dont look:P

  • Poor little US girl. I hope she will bring a gas-mask with her next time to Russia since she can't find the non-smoking areas, or maybe smoking will be abolished by her next trip, who knows...

  • She is from Siberia, dumbass.

  • She might be originally from Russia but not anymore. Now she is American.

  • she can be both things. one thing doesn't exclude the other. i have two nationaliteis and i have no legal problems

    Jane.

  • я говорю по русски просто приходится дольше писать.

    Спасибо

  • =( I hate smokers too, especially when they stray from the designated smoking areas.

Poor you! People in there thinking you are weird and all, don't worry though, we know you aren't 'cuckoo'.

  • Were you alone in there ? If yes, i think it's hard to travel by yourself.

P.S. Thanks for showing me the airport =) I lived in Moscow, but never been in airport.

P.P.S. People really need to do something about smoking in there.

P.P.P.S. You looked really cute in here ;]

  • i was alone and yes it was hard

  • The whole smoke makes th airport unpolitically correct:-)

  • hahaha! u rocks olga!!

  • privet

  • privet

  • Maybe they thought you were a spy...

You transformed in this video. You seemed almost more foreign.

  • For gods sake... visiting communism's world capital. How was life in Moscow? does it better than it was before?

  • I dont think its much better, some people live GREAT the others horrible.

  • olga, before no one was living GREAT. now people have opportunities to live GREAT - you cannot make everyone live great, you can give them opportunities to live great. You saying everyone lives GREAT in US? I mean, take financial capital of the world - NYC. 50% of it is a dump - central park ends and the "hood" begins. cross Hudson the river - "hood" is everywhere, Bronx or NJ, or even Queen and Brooklyn. and that's the FINANCIAL capital.

  • I agree, but when u go to Russia and see that prices at the grocery stores are the same as in USA but people get paid $80 bucks a month, you cant really call a good living.

  • food is definately cheaper there, and no one is being paid $80. Don't tell this fairy-tales -- i spend half the year in russia, and I know that even unskilled labor on construction sites make around $600. with only tax of 13% flat and no other deductions such as social security and state taxes and god knows what, that's not bad. Those with a degree start around $1000. that's decent by russian standards.

  • Well, my mom has 2 red diplomas, since you know so much about russia you'll know what I mean, and she gets exactly $115 a month which is around 3000 rubles, and she pays 1500 rubles of it just for the place she lives in and on top of that she pays that low cuz of the discount she gets cuz her children dont live in the apartment.

  • that's because she chooses to do what she wants to do or what she is used to doing, rather than where she can make a good money - I guess that's her choice and she can't complain about it. that's market conditions: if you don't want to do what market wants, then you are not gonna do well - no matter where you are.

  • you seems to love Russia so much, I want to see you move over there one day and dont complain about it.

  • I do love and understand russia and it really bothers me when people make negative comments about russia without really knowing what they are talking about. I'm russian citizen and I work for russian company in US. i know US pretty well, I understand its culture, I just don't like it as much as I like russia, though with all its problems, but with a lot of hope and a lot of positive changes and a lot of genuinely good straightforward people.

  • Look, I was born in Russia my parents lived there for over 50 years I would say they would know russia from inside out. No one is making negative comment I just say it like it is. The majority of people are very poor and some people sometimes have to wait to there pay check. Do more research and not only in Moscow, Moscow is a very tiny part of Russia.

  • look, that's what old russian people do - they complain. that's what they love doing and that's what they are good at, because that's what they've been doing for 50 years -can't change them now, just have to wait until they die. I've never heard a 25yo complaining or any person who adjusted and who realized that now market dictates what's in demand and how you can make money

  • I've lived in the harshest times for Russia in the early to mid 90's, really it's low point, in Ural region and i've seen how some people chose to adjust and accept the change, and some people continued to complain. You can't change them overnight, generation has to change, and maybe even 2 generations, but what I see now is more people who know their way around market economy and how to make themself valuable and how to make use of their brains and market opportunities.

  • moscow is pretty cool :) i dont see a lot of poor people there

  • wanna see some homeless go to st petersburg

  • Well, let's assume she is a teacher. She is around 50. Do you want her to go working as a constructor? Or a prostitute? This is what the province market wants.

  • "...and no one is being paid $80."

Are you sure? This is like a standard pay for teachers, doctors and many other State employees. Olga gave you a great example of her mom. This is very typical for Russia in general, not for Moscow.

  • and it improved ALOT over the past few years and that's not stagnant either - i bet it would double in the next 4 years. there is alot of demand for skilled and unskilled labor and there is a lot of start up businesses. I know, I work with those people

  • I'm glad you got lucky to see a great side of the country and u didnt see the ugly side of it at all, good for you.

  • See, some russian people are not very flexible, they were raised in the USSR, where it didn't really matter what you did - the gov't took care of you. that's a tough mentality to get rid of, especially at the older age, because I would bet I could find her a job that would pay at least $1000 a month. and she knows there are jobs that would pay more than being a gov't worker of some sort, but I guess she is not suffering that much if she is not willing to adjust, and she had 16 years to adjust
