  • johnoreskovich No, this is with an Orion Electronic Eyepiece. The onboard camera on the LS, the EclipseCCD, is only for alignment, and very limited wide field. Glad you liked the image!

  • @attheeyepiece - The "Meade LS 8" LightSwitch ACF Advanced Coma-Free w/ UHTC" stores images on an SD card up to 2GB in size...

  • @attheeyepiece - From Meade- The ECLIPS camera is more than just an alignment tool. It also takes full color 8° panoramas through its own wide angle lens of whatever you observe during the evening while you observe with an eyepiece through the main scope optics. It can save these images to an SD card with no computer needed at the scope. An SD card slot allows easy software upgrades and storing of your ECLIPS astrophotos on your SD card

  • @BeePeeOilDisaster Yes, as I was saying very limited wide field use. They have some great marketing material from Meade on the scope, but the ECLIPSE camera is not going to show much at all for images other then a few stars.

  • @attheeyepiece - Do you think that scope is worth $1600.00 US?

  • @BeePeeOilDisaster Of course that depends on what you looking for it to do. It is truly unique in its capabilities, no one can argue that. I find it kind of odd that Meade would release the Astronomer Inside now for a good amount of their scopes, which in my mind diminishes the value of the LS series a bit, but the scope can still auto align, and the optional monitor (which I don't like) too.

  • Is that the on-board CCD camera? Looks great.

  • I'd like to buy it!

  • Great capture and 8"!
