  • armour abilities should be drops on specific maps

  • they have changed it with the newer title update, I pop armor locks with one nade every time

  • I think they shoulda just added sprint to make it faster paced but I guess all the other stuff makes it diverse however I can't stand when people jet pack indoors hahah like why tho

  • After seeing how stickies work now, I suppose if H3's Flamer & Reach's AL where to meet, then the latter is in trouble as I heard it fires 'incendiary gel' that sticks. Assuming I can gel-stick both un & shielded foes, AL won't safe you if I torch you enough before hand. & even if you go into AL 1st, I can lob an Incendiary grenade or 2 & torch the area around you, where the fires will still be there by the tm you emerge from AL. There is no escape from the flames of death. So bring it on H4.

  • The top 2 suggestions are stickies & EMP. I think EMP (PPistol, GLauncher & the EMP of another AL) didin't make it bc its harder to implement: it would req the AL user to remain locked until his energy runs out. Still, I think the EMP aproach is better than the general take that was chosen where each weapon does a certien amount of damage. Opinions pls.

  • Now armor lock is completly useless. When I use it against a crowed of enemies they blew me out of it and killed me. When resident evil operation raccoon city comes out I'm giving up this trash game 343 ruined. To be clear it's not just the armor lock it's many other things in the game they changed. I also die in a tank without it being highjacked or blown up. Fuck you 343 you don't own the halo series.

  • @Nak3dHalo If I remember, I was asked if I wanted to install the TA. It didin't automatically downloaded. Said no; just got the game, so I had no clue what that was. Tried to find it now but to no avail & my next day off is in 3 weeks. Can point me in the right direction & tell me where can I locate this patch, so I can get it as soon as I go home? Once done under what menu the bloom & armor lock options are going to appear when making custom games? Many thx in advance.

  • But anyways, the changes are welcomed, mainly the Sticky Grenade fix. But those little lockings = Lock should operate like Hologram & Drop Shield, not like Sprint, Camo & Jet Pack. What do you guys think? Am not sure.

  • Only the Covenant Plasma Pistol fully charged shot(anti-shield weapon), Spartan Grenade Launcher (EMP grenade) & the EMP burst of another Lock should instantly strip a Lock (& Drop Shield). All other weapons should be useless. Its simpler that way. I think once activated, you shouln't be able to turn it off. & you have to be fully charged to activate it = no more little lockings. Insted, 1 big Lock wish will force its user to activate it accordinly.

  • I think they did a great job with armor lock tu, they wanted it to counter melee and vehicles and that's what they did, especially with sword block gone, now u have a chance against a sudden sword attack

  • thats pretty awesome. i dont have live any more so i dont get to play, but this is pretty cool. also, armor lock is for scrubs. i have thousands upon thousands of assorted medals in reach, but less than 100 rejection medals :D

  • I don't care for Armor Lock so much. The sticky death in armor lock from plasma nades is good to know. However its a bummer that you're dead instead of safe from that.

  • I can get everything else, but the whole reason for Armor Lock is it grants you the coveted Second Chance when stuck. Frankly, I think this is Bungie/343i just wimping out when berated by the idiots who can only complain about things.

  • I'm still a little confused about what playlists/game types the armor abilities' changes are in from the TU..any Anniversary game types?

  • @Yayap7 No worries, the whole thing is rather confusing. These TU changes take place in the TU Beta playlist and in any Anniversary playlist's non-Anniversary gametypes. So Slayer DMRs or Territories, for example, would have the TU updates b/c they don't say "Anniv." before their title.

  • @ChrisPhuckitt Take away the EMP effect and I'll literally march up to the physical 343i location and forcibly tell them to remove it from Reach. It'll literally be pointless to even argue, mention, or be able use AL @ all after you take away EMP's current effectiveness...It's already been nerfed to the point of crap :/

    The Anniversary playlists are the answer to your power weapon vs AL fears and critiques...No AAs. But I'll be royally PO'ed if AL is nerfed even more, dude...boohoo on my part

  • I say 343i should release another title update (TU) with Halo:Reach street date/Title Update # 1 Armor Lock AND the original Elite Slayer with the original loadouts (i.e. needler. plasma pistol and armor lock AA)...JUST a playlist, guys, not necessarily a remodel of the current Anniversary TU (people would moan and whine too much).

    They could call it Reach Classic Throwback Slayer/Team Slayer. (i.e. RCT Elite Slayer on Powerhouse).

    AL was never a threat imo...Obvious how to defend against it..

  • i think they should keep it the same because its like a double shields for 5 seconds and you cant move so you mite as well take it off.

  • Granted, I've never liked armor lock, but the plasma grenade bounce made it usable. Without that, armor lock sucks. No point in using it unless you're playing doubs.

  • Armor lock should have had a back draw. Like when you go out of it your shields go down too.

  • this makes me sad, i miss the old armor lock. it is truly the best ability, the only people who hate it are those who don't know how to use it. i don't have to have armor lock but it helps a lot. the update didn't completely ruin it but it definitely made it weaker.

  • Let's see: AL was intended early on to counter heavy weapons and vehicle splat abuse. I think it's been finally fucking fixed, minus a few details you pointed out like the fully charged PP

  • Luckily, the combined effect of half your team rage-shooting an armor locker tends to clear them pretty fast. I don't think the shield it provides is perfect (perfect would be to function like an overshield that can be damaged as such), but it can be dispatched quickly and is less of a hindrance.

  • I tried sticking somebody right before they armor locked in the TU playlist, but it didn't work. -_-

  • They should just take armor lock out completely, as well as camo. That with zero bloom DMR and pistol (maybe decrease the rate of fire on the pistol slightly), 85% sniper and add some more colour to forge, you got yourself a good game.

  • Man, a single Rocket should drain the whole AL timer.

    2 sniper rounds should do the same.

    A single sword lunge too.

    If 343 really wants to fix it, they'll need to stop catering to noobs who can't stay alive on their own.

  • @Hi5TOrIC Keep going down that road and the "majority" will become laughable. If Halo keeps getting weaker, another brand new sci-fi title may take its place in the near future. Believe me, another "Reach" will be a disgrace to the franchise. 35k is the current Reach population limit. And we're talking about a Halo game.

  • @Inh3r1th0rp Halo's a benchmark/Microsoft milestone...Bungie and 343i have left quite an impression. I see your point, and I've heard many of my own friends actually criticize Halo's direction aesthetically. It's intellectual/technical properties still prevail tenfold I think...I don't know anyone that won't buy a new Halo game/map pack that owns an XBox 360 even if they hate it...Might be years down the road...But I'm willing to bet Halo's not going anywhere outta the FPS spotlight for ages...

  • @ChrisPhuckitt yeah actually you're right - I didn't think of it that way. If your team was good enough to control power weapon spawns like shot-gun and sword you should be rewarded. But I dunno how to nerf it again in a way that will still make it playable and take out EMP effect.

  • AL will always be a stupid loadout. Best patch for armour lock: remove it (or at least everything but BTB)

  • Thanks for the investigation! Reminds me of what defend the house does... or used to do. The over charge PP does a small amount because the bolt gets deflected. I think it should actually impact and neutralize the AL since it is just a shield booster and not a separate shield like the bubble or drop shield.

  • I never thought armor lock needed to be nerfed. People just refused to learn how to deal with it correctly. The fact that it was taken out or many gametypes and now is being nerfed really infuriates me.

  • Definitely not the kind of nerfing I was looking for. Good thing they still had a chance to make some changes. Hopefully they did/will.

  • to be honest, i dont like that you cant fling off stickies after youve been stuck. that was one of the cool and fair things about armor lock. you only have a split-second to react to being stuck, so you should be rewarded for it if you manage to go into armor lock before it explodes

  • @AHauntedArmy that is a gross oversimplification, dont you think? you have to have very fast reflexes in order to un-stick yourself. the explosion is almost immediate. keep in mind that i have stuck quite a few people in Reach, but only a few have ever used armor lock to un-stick themselves.

    i also enjoy watching Rooster Teeth's Fails of the Week series. every once in a while, they receive a clip that involves someone sticking someone else, only to have that person fling it back at them. funny

    well, lets see, to use armour lock you must press and hold a button, using armour lock repells stickies off in the direction they came from.

    you say you should be rewarded for this when all you are doing is pressing a button.

    i say, a plasma grenade takes roughly 1- 2 secounds after sticking to explode, this is more then enough time to react to it.

  • @AHauntedArmy it takes about one second. the average person's response time is about half that. by the time someone realizes they have been stuck, they have very little time to react. they basically have to be prepared to be stuck. that means actually seeing the plasma being thrown at them. if they get stuck in the back, they have only the sound cue to go by.

    it is a lot harder than it sounds dude. thats why its such a rare occurrence.

    getting stuck after locking should stay the same, though.

  • @MNico1992 average human reaction time is less then half a secound.

    if you are able to recogonize the sound of being stuck then you can respond just as fast as seeing it stick you.

    it's actualy a lot easier then you are making it out to be, it isn't even a rare occurance either since it happens to me quite frequently, going in to armour lock might not throw the grande off but comming out will so either way to grenade is going off.

  • @AHauntedArmy i never see it happen... probably because the majority of armor lock users are not skilled players.

    still, un-sticking is one of the few non-nooby uses for armor lock. itd be nice to have it back. the only thing i cant stand about armor lock is the fact that it is mostly used to delay the inevitable, rather than to actually deter certain attacks at appropriate times.

  • @MNico1992 you must play at a low level then.

    armour lock stick "launching" was one of the noob things about it, when it launches that sticky back at his opponent giving him a suicide or a betrayal, this effects his and or his teams points which can effect the out come of a game. if the sticky just dropped to the floor then that would have been perfectly acceptable.

    armour lock doesn't just delay kills, it gives them an easier chance to escape compared to other armour abilities.

    it would still be anoying as hell since he failed to evade your sticky but not as anoying as loosing a point and a chance at winning the match because of a game mechanic and not player skill.

  • I sat they fixed armor lock pretty well! Except I'll still choose sprint or jet pack over it.

  • I was hoping they'd make it useless. However, I am happy about grenades, what I would like is if they had popped shields when they entered AL that 2 nades would bleed through and kill them. To me, this perk is like Last Stand in CoD (don't boo me yet) it's a useful ability when used simply to counter melee happy people and in Big team to have a prayer against vehicles. But all people do is use it as a chance to wait that 5 seconds to screw someone out of a kill in the hopes of team help.

  • The plasma weapons make sense, since they are more effective on shields.

    But some weapons surprised me like the Concussion Rifle and Plasma Launcher not working as well.

    When I first heard about stickies killing armor lockers, I wasn't too happy. I just thought it'd be fine if the grenade would stay on you when you lock and would take away your armor lock when exploding. Same with the Plasma Launcher, but more deadly (e.g. Getting hit with 4 blue berries will pop you out and kill you.)

  • I used the Plasma Pistol pre-TU, this just gives me even more of an excuse to grab one now.
