@Fenixx117 And Germany, the starting battle in Germany was pure epicness and accurately depicted the badass skill, determination and strategy of the Roman legions :)

What the fucks wrong with them? Fucking Europhiles want everything in French or Freekopean...You're all a bunch of pompous, irrelevant twats with stupid accents who are trying to make yourselves feel important!
I'm Scottish and I couldn't bring myself to sympathise with the British tribals in this film. In fact I HATED (almost as much as I hate Scottish Nationalists) them he shoulda killed that slave when he got back to Roman territory (I would have). PRO ROMA!
Im sick of every Roman movie being set in Roman Britain. Just what is the obsession with that Province? Seems like a good way to ruin a movie. King Arthur, Centurion, now this piece of shit movie. So please, Hollywood, next time you make a Roman movie, do us all a favor and don't set it in Britain!
@3dwardcullen69 its mainly because king arthur just so happened to be in britain, and the eagle and Centurion are about the 9th which mysteriously vanished and so they can take artistic liberties to their movies since it doesnt have to much information on it. I would like to say though is that their probably wouldnt be to much of a difference in the stories if they were fighting gaul, though greece, carthage, and caesar would be nice, though i dont understand why you didnt like this movie.
@StupidMovieMan Well its quite simple. I didnt like the movie because like so many of its predecessors (king arthur and centurion) it lacks scale. Its been done before so many times, this story is exhausted. Send the roman north of Hadrian wall and hope he survives is so boring. These movies on Roman Britain or doomed to fail. Maybe if the story was about the Boudicca rebellion it would appeal more, but no one wants to see 1 Roman running from 5 savages for 1.5 hours. BORING!
@3dwardcullen69 Britain is a country rich in history... they set the movie there becuase that is where the events would have happened. King Arthur WAS a british king and he is portrayed as such. The romans did famously invade Britian and Hadrians wall and the things that this movie refers to are relevant. you obveosly have no clue about history and i find it pretty funny that you think that you can judge when your username is based on a character from the TWILIGHT SAGA!
@HarrietC4 How do you deduce that since my name is 3dwardcullen69 I know nothing about history? LOL, your logic is pathetic. My name is obvious satire how could you be so retarded to not get that? AND I know more about your little island than you know about your own life so sit back down you impudent fucking moron
in 71 AD Rome, invade caledonia by the governor of britain Quintus peillius cerialis, and entirely conquered by general Gnaeus iulius agricola in 78 AD, Rome -de facto- held Caledonia as a full provice more than about 30 years, romans march deep in scotland, and after the year 90 AD, Rome maintain nominally his domain over the highlands until the year 140, then the Antonine Wall was built and abandoned the north Scotland, romans held the lower lands and south scotland until 205 AD.
@Danorowski Actually I think the eagle was American. But centurion was British, which further proves my point that no matter who makes these types of movies they will still suck because of the location and weak storyline.
@3dwardcullen69 Have you ever actually read the book this is based from? The book is set in Britain and the whole setting could NOT be changed due to the legend that the 9th legion disappeared in Scotland (or Britain). I doubt that would work very well anywhere else, although it is true that now historians mostly believe it was destroyed in the Eastern part of the Empire rather than Britain. As i said though, you clearly have not read the book as you posted that comment.
@3dwardcullen69 Also, Gladiator wasn't set in Britain, it was set in Germania, Africa, Spain and Rome itself. Infact that is one of the Greatest Roman films, which nearly everyone has seen. Also Spartacus wasn't set in Britain, but mostly based in Italy. There are also numerous other films not based in Britain. Please do your research in future. The movie isn't a piece of shit. Yes its not brilliant but it does the book justice which is good enough.
@TRUExSIGHTS Cant any of you Brits read basic English anymore? You were clearly in your own world with that comment. How did you get from what I said, to Spartacus, and Gladiator and me not knowing about the history of Roman Britain or the book which this movie is based on? What you wrote, and what I wrote, have nothing to do with each other, so please save yourself a pointless rant and read what I wrote again.
@3dwardcullen69 I can read my own language, thank you. Obviously you cannot. To quote you "Im sick of every Roman movie being set in Roman Britain. Just what is the obsession with that Province?". The whole point of the film being based here is because of the history the film relies upon (or the historical myth atleast). You obviously just misunderstood everything i said in my comment. I'm sorry there's no Roman movies that can be based in the USA, but that's not our problem.
@metalandjazzare1 look first of all iam not italian so i dont have anything to do with romans also yeah the maybe lost to the scots but did they even come a bit close to the roman empire well no
@lukey597 hahaha nationalism. That's a cool story, but sadly for you, very few people care about Britain. Seeing as how the Romans were more concerned with other frontiers than they were with the British one, more focus needs to go into more important provinces. Especially since every movie on Roman Britain thus-far has utterly failed to entertain.
@3dwardcullen69 Curious. The missing eagle of the Ninth is a now famous legend, and while the destruction of the 3 legions in Teutoburg Forest would be an interesting moment, the Ninth Legion 'vanished' in Roman Britain. Where would you rather it was set? Australia?
@exxcalibur1973 Firstly, the history of the ninth legion is hairy and this movie was fictional. It is unknown what happened to the legion and whether it disappeared in Britannia or elsewhere is disputed. So don't present the case that the ninth legion 'vanished' in Britain if you have very limited knowledge of it.
Secondly, my comment wasn't specific to the ninth legion, I was speaking IN GENERAL: movies about Roman Britain suck. Roman movies should be in more important places
@3dwardcullen69 You are quite acerbic and defensive. The history is hairy , no one disputes that, but the legend , myth or whatever remains, and this creates interest and ticket sales.
You need to chill a little and, considering your tediously aggressive tone, perhaps grow up. Thanks and cya.
@exxcalibur1973 Well your reply wasn't exactly cordial, especially when you sarcastically said the thing about Australia. I think my response was appropriate. But I also think we have misjudged each other, as is common on the internet. Take care.
@BaconTV123 Just the beginning part, then Spain, Africa and finally Rome. Which was good because we got to see some of the different parts of the vast Roman world. Gladiator did well to immerse you into the story. You felt like you're on an adventure, while the eagle failed to create that same level of immersion, in my opinion due to the gloomy setting of Britain and weak story line that was done so many times before. It just didnt seem as vast.
@3dwardcullen69 I have been saying the exact same thing. Roman Britain is LAME, no one cares about "the lost legion" anymore. Let's us have some real roman stuff, like Caesar or from Hannibal etc. Gladiator was really good, but still not enough from the roman war machine side imo.
@jonnacdo Yeah exactly, lame is a good word. Personally, I'd like to see a movie about the Roman Empire at the height of its power anywhere from 60AD-180AD. Not many movies have actually hit this time span, which was arguably Romes golden age. Hannibal would be a good idea because it hasn't been done before. But its set during the Roman Republic. Caesar would also be interesting, I agree.
@3dwardcullen69 The reason is that it's much cheaper to set a movie in deserted forests than in a CGI-constructed Rome. "Cheaper" is relative- these movies still cost 100 million each and don't have a single interesting scene between them.
@3dwardcullen69 centurion was okay i mean atleast they depicted the picts better no pun intended this is shocking the pict were not native americans this is not fucking america
ENTERTAINMENT for god's sake.i absolutely am an history buff. but give me a break it is only escapism. there are enough accurate records of the pax romana to any normally gifted intelligent could tell the difference between fact and historical fiction. lighten up louey
@skykilla21 so you're saying that everything made for entertainment purposes should not have anything to do with reality or historical accuracy? last time i checked, historical fiction meant that there is some "history" element, otherwise it would just be plain fiction or fantasy
@caramelsen The fact that it was during the Roman Empire, there is Hedrian's wall, and the weaponry and armor are about right makes it historical fiction. Just the fact it has to do with the Romans in Britain makes it historical fiction.
@redstar213la they are not mohawks, they are picts. this movie is lame for completely misrepresenting them, they were completely justified in resenting roman colonization, if that's even what they are doing in this movie, and yet it portrays them as evil...so ridiculous
@caramelsen i would hold a movie to historical accuracy to hairstyle, and i would say is that the protagonist is roman so clearly we would see the main charater as the good guy and the antagonist the bad guys, its how stories work. I mean i dont see you praising the movie for not having every single roman wearing segmanta armor, because historically it wasnt as popular as most people see roman soldiers.
Best part is at the end when their about to get ambush by the mohawk ppl and the legionare says "your orders sir" and tatum replys "defend the eagle!"
actually its hadrians wall. it was built to guard the northern regions of roman-held briton against the tribes of picti and scotti. learn your history.
I just watched it and loved it. Channing Tatum is an actor who people will be talking about for years to come. If you doubt that, watch Dito Montiel's A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. Tatum in that film reminded me of DeNiro as Johnny Boy in Mean Streets, and this film, The Eagle, is like DeNiro in The MIssion. Complaining about the battle scenes here -- lol. Stick to video games, you knuckleheads.
I recomand watching it!! The battle scens are not the point of the movie and its much fighting scens! I see the movie every day if I can great story!!
there were a few scenes that seemed to me somewhat gay, i thought they were gonna kiss each other in some parts of the movie, the roman and his slave that is lol
if all you people complaining are so fucking smart, perhaps you should learn what the word FICTION means. movie is based on a book of historical FICTION. ITS A GODDAMNED STORY, not a documentary. one is still allowed to take liberty on his own creation, be it based on reality or not. if you want to complain about innacurate depictions of history you should protest the horrendus things they teach in school, or even the history channel, sporting bullshit shows that have nothing to DO with history.
@SithLord666HD similar story. in centurion it was survivors of the ambushed legion in britin who decided instead of facing shame to get vengeance . in this its a man seeking to solve his dads mistakes
i guess nobody told chaning tatum this is the movie about roman empire.he is acting like its one of those retarded american movies about highschool football and shit.
The 9th legion was never lost. Let alone in Britain. The Picts have never been able to mob up any Roman legion from the very moment Britain was conquered to the day the last units were called back to continental Europe............ And these Picts, British Celts, look like native american tribes......????? well, I guess there is enough gore and violence in it to "make up" for the crap that was fantasised together.
@Efteling4Ever Britain was a country of countless different nomadic tribes for many thousands of years before the Romans arrrived. It's not a huge stretch of the imagination.
When I first seen this movie i was like...wait what O_O who are these native guys, thought they were in europe not the U.S.? than they started talking i was like...oh. don't recognize the language. so this is what tribal europeons looked like...bad ass.
@BowofRama10 Well, the plot is similar, in boh of thtese movies we see that romans had a huge problem concuring bretain. I gotta say, Centurion and The Eagle are epic movies!
Stupidest..fucking..trailer..i have ever seen in my entire life. I mean sure the movie looks pretty good..but honestly? WHY WOULD YOU TELL US THE SLAVE IS PART OF THAT TRIBE..IN THE TRAILER?! Pretty much ruins a large part of the movie.
Man you youtubers can argue about anything. This movie's great entertainment, whether or not it's not a billion percent accurate on the roman history you wouldn't know either way. Or did you live back then? harrharr.. if you don't like it there's no need to be a douchebag and ruin the interest for other people. Again, great entertainment.
@Sondrebloch Touche. I just realized that even if we lived back then we still wouldn't necesserily know how the history really went or how the people who wrote it down thought it went. Someone's writing right now how this moment is going to be seen when it's history, and i bet there are a lot of different opinions on the subject.
@Sondrebloch WRONG! This movie is DECONSTRUCTION which is a SINISTER movement set to destroy all of us who still have brains to think and memories longer than today's news headlines. So stop apologizing for the special effects whores who will swallow any POISON so long as it has a "action" and a catchy music score.
@terryfordzim Well you certainly are entitled to your own stupid opinion. Put yourself in the film makers angle. I can assure you it's not THAT easy to make a movie that fits everyone. Tell you what -- if you make a better film I'll be sure to watch it, and give you credits for good work.. untill then, I'd advice you to put your rubbish criticism back up in the attic where you found it (=
Honestly, If you want to see the prequel to this movie watch "The Centurion." It's 100 times better, more gorey, no hollywood drama, all historical accuracy and brutality; just like what actually happened with the 9th legion in 117. I don't care about shitty-acting Channing Tatum's daddy issues, just get to the good stuff!
@IRoosterManI if they "Avoid" it their is no movie to produce. Make Sense Right? if i are to say to avoid your stupidity your father should have use condom.

@3dwardcullen69 Yes absolutely. We need those movies. I don't see how they can choose these films here over the way better ages of Rome.
jonnacdo 1 week ago
@3dwardcullen69 would you rather have it in America then like all the other movies? I'm afraid the Romans didnt go there, GUTTED
joeshmo000 1 week ago
@joeshmo000 At this point. even Romans on mars would be better than another crappy British based movie
3dwardcullen69 1 week ago
@3dwardcullen69 The reason is that it's much cheaper to set a movie in deserted forests than in a CGI-constructed Rome. "Cheaper" is relative- these movies still cost 100 million each and don't have a single interesting scene between them.

@3dwardcullen69 this movie is very good u idiot, if u dont like the fact that it is filmed there doesn't mean that the movie is bad

@3dwardcullen69 centurion was okay i mean atleast they depicted the picts better no pun intended this is shocking the pict were not native americans this is not fucking america
metalandjazzare1 17 hours ago
@metalandjazzare1 The picts were supposed to be depicted as savage. I think they went a little bit overboard

ENTERTAINMENT for god's sake.i absolutely am an history buff. but give me a break it is only escapism. there are enough accurate records of the pax romana to any normally gifted intelligent could tell the difference between fact and historical fiction. lighten up louey
sgtgewart1 1 month ago
@drabeksi i never said it wasn't historical fiction. i was referring to the comment that said it is for entertainment purposes, not history

@skykilla21 so you're saying that everything made for entertainment purposes should not have anything to do with reality or historical accuracy? last time i checked, historical fiction meant that there is some "history" element, otherwise it would just be plain fiction or fantasy
caramelsen 1 month ago
@caramelsen The fact that it was during the Roman Empire, there is Hedrian's wall, and the weaponry and armor are about right makes it historical fiction. Just the fact it has to do with the Romans in Britain makes it historical fiction.
drabekdl 1 month ago
@redstar213la they are not mohawks, they are picts. this movie is lame for completely misrepresenting them, they were completely justified in resenting roman colonization, if that's even what they are doing in this movie, and yet it portrays them as evil...so ridiculous
caramelsen 1 month ago
@caramelsen NO ONE GIVES A FUCK! ITS A FUCKING MOVIE! JUST WATCH IT AND ENJOY IT! ITS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES! NOT FOR HISTORY CLASS!
Skykilla21 1 month ago
@caramelsen i would hold a movie to historical accuracy to hairstyle, and i would say is that the protagonist is roman so clearly we would see the main charater as the good guy and the antagonist the bad guys, its how stories work. I mean i dont see you praising the movie for not having every single roman wearing segmanta armor, because historically it wasnt as popular as most people see roman soldiers.
StupidMovieMan 1 month ago
@caramelsen also it is shown that the romans can come out as bad guys, the main character kills a britannian kid who looked like he was 12-15

Stick to video games, you knuckleheads.
deckbose 1 month ago
I recomand watching it!! The battle scens are not the point of the movie and its much fighting scens! I see the movie every day if I can great story!!
Andreas980609 1 month ago
just finished watching it. Low budget thats for sure. only 2 battle scenes, both less than 5minutes each. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND WATCHING.
one episode of spartacus IS more entertaining.

if all you people complaining are so fucking smart, perhaps you should learn what the word FICTION means. movie is based on a book of historical FICTION.

It's not a huge stretch of the imagination.

seemasapeen 2 months ago
Man you youtubers can argue about anything. This movie's great entertainment, whether or not it's not a billion percent accurate on the roman history you wouldn't know either way. Or did you live back then? harrharr.. if you don't like it there's no need to be a douchebag and ruin the interest for other people. Again, great entertainment.
Sondrebloch 2 months ago 36
@Sondrebloch Touche. I just realized that even if we lived back then we still wouldn't necesserily know how the history really went or how the people who wrote it down thought it went. Someone's writing right now how this moment is going to be seen when it's history, and i bet there are a lot of different opinions on the subject.
kirlinks 2 months ago 2
@Sondrebloch Yeh i agree, the Definition of a "MOVIE" is a Rough depiction of Fiction or Non Fiction Events
EngrishSongs 1 month ago
@Sondrebloch WRONG! This movie is DECONSTRUCTION which is a SINISTER movement set to destroy all of us who still have brains to think and memories longer than today's news headlines. So stop apologizing for the special effects whores who will swallow any POISON so long as it has a "action" and a catchy music score.
terryfordzim 1 month ago
