My eyes are open, I can see it blow in the wind, with my eyes closed and not physical, I feel it beating across my skin, means the realist thing is the unseen, you want 2 “CLICK MY NAME” 2 know what I mean, it is no secret for I HAVE FOUND IT!
He wanted to make "even more overtly sentimental tunes"; such a loss that he didn't get to continue to do that. He once said he sang about love because that's all there was, all that really mattered. It's obvious he meant that when you listen to "She Makes My Day" or "True Love". He also said he thought "cynicism was lazy". I think he meant that we have to work to find what's good in life, that it's easy not to do that. Such a sensitive man. I really miss him...
Its neat that RP talks about "wanting to be sentimental in the future" in 1986 and in 1994 he brings out his sentimental side with the album 'Honey' one of my favorite ballads of that album was 'Know by Now'
I miss Robert Palmer!!! His music will live on forever and ever!!! I like what he said about cynicism, unfortunately, I deal with cynical people and it bothers me.
That's a fantastic line he ends with- "cynicism is lazy". Very true, it's an effortless outlook that requires no courage to hold. It's also surprising how early he had been thinking of doing the ballads before coming out with Ridin' High.
I love to hear him speak in that Mancunian accent - he was a perfectionist and had great integrity real music played by real musicians. How sad we never got to hear more - just think how he would be more appreciated amongst today's music. Georgeous looking too...
The accent is North Yorkshire. Our accent is fixed in our teens and RP spent his in Scarborough. Listen carefully and you can hear the faint touch of Geordie at the very southern limit of its influence.
"800 Yards of G minor" ;)
Monster, Monster Talent ... sad we don't get to hear his thoughts more often like this.
