i love this song i am a bass singer myself in my church choir and with a LOT practice and a bit of vocal fry i can hit most of this song including the end and the beginning lol (btw I'm 16) but George is my all time favorite bass and one of my favorite singers period
@cosmicguy180 Why are you asking this if a guy is doing it in this video? Kind of a redundant question if you ask me? Anyway, if you look all over YouTube, Amazon, iTunes, etc. there's tons of videos and music just like it.
I wish we had ALL the Greats Back.... It must be wonderful up in heaven now... Not only with our KING... But Vestal , Jake, Howard, George and all the Greats.... Thats 1 Chior I want to be in....
It's not like they're talkin' about The Crusades, man...they're not talkin' about killing people...that's what Satan does and there's no love when it comes to fighting him...that's what they're talking about...unless you're asking them to show love for Satan, how about you formulate your notions a bit more clearly before making them public and being completely ignorant and rude about it all.
what in the world is wrong with you? do you not have any respect for others and their own paths? get a life man, seriously, you are beyond pathetic...
Of the many times i worked with George Younce he was a true professional. William Golden came to the Quartet Convention He was sitting in the audience. i mentioned to Brock Spear that Golden was here. Brock just mumbled and never acknowledged what i said. Was i really going to have to explain Goldens contribution to Gospel. Looked back, noticed George in the background with a big smile on his face looked at me and nodded. After the first song of the Cathedrals George acknowledged Golden.
The Quartet did own the bass. The group bought Mark a new "Music Man" bass shortly after this and he used it all through the 80's. Scott Fowler used it as well for a couple years when he joined the group before buying his own Yamaha bass. I believe Glenn gave Mark the bass when the group retired.
I think he bought it in 1984, because that's when Music Man went entirely on its own. I'm actually looking at buyig a StingRay bass like Mark's. The bass did have one defect: the bottom string is sometimes a whole volume up from the rest of the strings. I wonder how long they had the P-bass.
My wife called to order this video for me. It was 50.00. George answers the phone and is just as nice as can be, she tells him she wants the video for my birthday and he says I'll send it right out. She said don't you want money first? He said just send it when you can. Sure enough the video came before she paid. He had no idea that she would pay but trusted her to do so. When he answered the phone she asked who she was talking to,George said "I'm the one who sings the bass".
I heard a story that happened at one of the concerts, I cant remember if it was George or Glenn, but there was a guy wanting a tape and asked if he could send them the money for it. so George or Glenn got up and picked up 1 of everything off the table and handed to the guy than told him he can pay for the tape when he got the money. That is a story my Grandmother told me a long time ago...
Love the way Kirk ends. Met the guy in person, a great man. great voice. the best the Cathedrals ever had, eventhough is not about being the best of the best, I just think he had a very unusual voice.
I love this song. I first heard it in church but to tell you the truth, i like this version better. Probably because Mr. George is singing in it. You will never find a better person on Earth. RIP George!
geoege is still the best. i have followed Southern Gospel for years i have never heard another bass singer match his MC work the depth of his voice and his upper register all in one singer. and on top of all that he was just a nice guy and that means alot now a day's. i think about him offten.

Has anyone noticed that the bass guitar looks like the one George Amon Webster and Steve Lee used. I think the quartet owned it.

There's a third verse to this song. It goeth:
When we get to Heaven, brother, we'll be glad
Keep on the firing line.
How we'll praise the Saviour for the call we had
Keep on the firing line.
When we see the sould that we have helped to win,
Leading them to Jesus from the paths of si,
With a shout of welcome we will all march in,
So keep on the firing line.

Actually, George's problems started after "Symphony Of Praise" was recorded with Danny and Gerald.
