Only DNA can determine what actually is going on. However, I've seen dogs without front limbs walk consistantly. The animal was forced to walk and its body(hip) addapted and changed.

Maybe this monkey prefered to walk as a child and its body addapted. However, it is mutation in genes that evolves us. HUman beings could be a result of mutation or adaptation.

I imagine that chimp spent most of its time with humans and probably thought it was more liek a human than an ape.
