  • Madness

    Attacking

    The  =MATH

    Head

  • he didn't have to do all that cause i finish adding it up before the video was done

  • @slowley363 That's a joke right? Obviously the video would be longer as he's explaining it, doesn't mean the method is that long.

  • Hate

  • Lol really helped... I still hae math dough

  • Hi Sean (or is it Shawn?). No matter what, you're intent was to offer kind and free assistance to appreciative ones. I do, however, have one insight that would have made this video much easier.

Borrow 2 from 644 (now, 642) and giving it to 238 (now, 240). Now just add: 642 + 240 = 882. Two simple steps that can indeed be done in the head.

  • Pretty awesome. It is manageable. Know I know how all my nerdy friends who won't tell me how do it. :D

  • lame

  • waist of time this is more work

  • Another easy way to add 2 + 2

step one- Add 1027 to each number it will become 1029 + 1029

step two- now add 1029 + 1029 in your head. oh it's simple. it is 2058.

step three- now multiply 1027 by 2 and subtract the answer from 2058. it would be 4.

step four- check your answer using a scientific calculator. you could use a computer too. Amazing ... isn't it :)

  • it's easier just to add the 1st two numbers which is 882. 644 shouldn't even be rounded up to 650...

  • Ok, so because I leave out an one e means I can't spell the word, you ever heard of a little thing called a typo?....obviously not. I don't have a PHD, nor am I up to completing a doctrine right now, but that's what i'm aiming for. But I know people that do have PHD's in maths fields, and they wouldn't be able to solve a question like this in say, 4 seconds....should they kill themself too? because they're probs a lot smarter than you "WOOGYBOOGYNIGGER" wow, really smart name kid.

  • WELL BLOW ME DOWN WITH A FUKIN WINDMILL, WHERE WOULD I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THAT ADVICE??!!!!!

  • Um, that's more work than needed. It's easier to do it without the extra steps. Not to be rude, but whoever came up with the original theory (I had to learn the theory in math class in grade school) was just looking for a way to make money for an unnecessary idea.

  • This one is a boot to the head

  • LOL I worked that out in 5 seconds

    882 :P

    I'm 15 xD

  • did we learn this in the 1st grade? thanks

  • if you're over 12 and can't do this problem as it is you should kill yourself

  • @woogyboogynigger666 And you should suck ma cock

  • @woogyboogynigger666 It's not about that idiot....it's about being able to do it in your head within a few seconds.

  • @IIproductionsII that's exactly what i'm talking about idiot..... if you can't dot this problem quickly in your head you should kill yourself.... sounds like you should go first.

  • @woogyboogynigger666 Well actually kid, I don't know if you're trolling or something. But most people can't solve questions like this in their head within a few seconds without some kind of practise. Now obviously you're not that good at it, otherwise you wouldn't be watching this video at the start. Now if you want to call me a dumbass or something, well i'm doing maths methods and specialist maths and going on for a PHD. I think you need to grow up little guy.

  • @IIproductionsII I'm so happy for you. You're "doing maths methods and specialist maths and going on for a PHD". Try taking a composition class while you're at it. I made a simple statement a month ago, and you think I'm trolling, yet you're the one bugging me. The practice (and that's the correct way to spell it) you need to do this problem in your head, is called 4th grade. I understand if your mom drank a lot while she was pregnant, just don't take it out on me because I'm not like you.

  • @woogyboogynigger666 Well most people pass 4th grade, and no I doubt many of them if asked would be able to solve a problem like this within 1 second in their head. Now you may think you're smart, but simple math like this is a skill that comes from practise, (and no, it is only always spelt practice in the US)

Many people go on to completing much more advanced math, while lacking skills like this, so saying that people should kill themself for not being able to solve this fast is ridiculous

  • @IIproductionsII ok you win! you're actually smart, but spelt is actually spelled, and practise is actually practice, because this site ends in .com meaning it's not a british site. Yes most people pass 4th grade, and if they continue on you get more practice adding numbers. ANY PERSON OF AVERAGE INTELLIGENCE CAN DO THE EXAMPLE IN THEIR HEAD WITHOUT HESITATION. If this doesn't apply to you, read the previous sentence again, think real hard about it, and for fuck sake leave me the hell alone.

  • @woogyboogynigger666 So because YouTube is an American site, means I have to spell words the way Americans do? You sir, are a dumbass. Also, it is spelt, unless you're an American, then it's spelled....so stop trying to pick me up on my spelling just because i'm not American. American english is used by Americans, every other country that speaks english, uses proper english. Another thing to note, intelligence has nothing to do with solving mathmatic equations quickly.

  • @IIproductionsII thats it exactly, if you're on an american site where the majority of users are speaking american english then don't be surprised when you spell words wrong that people think you're a dolt. mathmatic is actually spelled mathematic no matter which english you speak, so yeah you are a moron. If intelligence has nothing to do with solving equations quickly why can't dumb people do it? Look at some of the other posts, 11 year old kids are able to solve this why can't you?

  • @woogyboogynigger666 No, you're just to ignorant to realise that not all people type the same way you do. Where I come from we say "mum" not "mom" but do you see my calling Americans dipshits if they say "mom" on a British site. Solving equations quickly in your head is a learnt skill, that comes with practice, it's nothing to do with intellegence, it's not something you're born with. I never said I couldn't solve it idiot, It's just stupid to say somone should kill themself if they can't....

  • @IIproductionsII Okay princess listen up. Read the comments again and you'll see that I said you couldn't spell then you said you're not american so I said you're on an american site so I assumed you were just another illiterate fuck. Then you proved you're an idiot by telling me you're getting a phd in math, yet you can't spell mathematic. I understand people from other countries spell words differently than americans. I also know when I'm being hounded by a retard so get off my dick dummy.

  • @woogyboogynigger666 suck ma cock

  • the way I did it is:

    6 + 2 = 8

    4 +3 = 7

    4 + 8 = 12

take the 1 in number 12 and add it to the 7 and you get 8

    882

  • wat im 11 and im faster dan u

  • you call this the quick way? this is way more complex than the standard way

  • i already made it...its 882 :P without that amount of complications :P

  • How To Play and Win, by making use Mathematical Roulette. Check it.

  • Common, guys... the explanation is much tougher than the trick, and the trick is worth more in saving time than using the "old school" method. Thank you, "Quick Math Tricks" - you're doing a fine job, and I appreciate it!

  • the way i do it is 238+644=882 easy! :)

  • Why do your videos look like your being held captive somewhere?

  • listen i got this alot faster the way my school showed me

  • to long i can do it in 3 secs

  • so much faster to do 800 + 70 + 12

  • you have some great stuff in the your videos , dont ruin them with this crap

  • you make math so easy thank you :)

  • OR You can just use a calculator :D

  • oh my god, you're making simple addition more complicated that it is....keep the normal method of addition

  • Why not just carry the one and finish the problem without so many steps? Adding steps is not simplification and expediency is what you want when you are trying to complete your work.

  • juz add it...in simplest way in ur mind...238+644=?

    8+4=12 remainder 1, 3+4=7+1=8,then 2+6= 8.

the answer now is 882....that simple than that...

  • @MrPrincePatrick : I totally agree with you.

  • @MrPrincePatrick : I totally agree with you. Just do addition, do not need more method than the classic one.

    Mathmatchpoint

  • I love you

  • too many maths for jus one answer WAY TOO MANY!!!!!

  • tojjo

  • you a fucking moron. that takes way longer than doing it in your head. get a life. stop making videos. you're an idiot. shave your stache.

  • Here's how I do it.

4+8 is 12, place the 2 and carry the 1. Next digit, 3+4 (now upgraded to 4+4) is 8. Next digit, 6+2 is 8. BAM! Quick and easy.

  • (Youlovemathematics). In my channel i will teach you everything about math step by step. I will start with teaching you (necessary basic math skills) and then I will teach you the more advanced math topics. Just click on Playlists when you are on my channel and you will be able to watch my math videos in order. I promise that i will teach everything in an easy way. Math is easy if you have a good teacher.

  • @youlovemathematics

please teach me...where is your channel.

  • i can count to potato

  • 8+4=12 so write 2 in units place and carry 1.

    4+3=7 plus 1 carried = 8 for the tenth's place

6+2=8 for the hundredth's just combine all 882 simple.

  • @zemkwe 644+238= 882

  • @zemkwe but why does the one have to be carried

  • @89dontwatchdat because it is 2 digits, it gets carried over the 4

  • @zemkwe good

  • Before you said "multiples of ten" I had solved it in my head without any of your tricks.

  • @LNOL you know the saying "expert village sucks"

    How true

  • omg tht method sux i did it faster than u and im 13

  • @basherbat well you are still in school and when you are out in the real world you wont be around math, unless you have a job that requires math.

  • @arachlyco true as i am trying to become a writer

  • @basherbat but, I take the fault here for not remembering my math skills. I am doing some catch up though and it is better than it was a month ago.

  • @arachlyco You should know doing math in our head improves out brain activity skills, though the brain isn't a muscle, there's a great similarity to it and muscles that gives confusion to other people. Our brain is a calculator itself, use it or lose it. Early humans are said to have founded algebra, specifically Babylonians and Hindus seemed to know be good at math since there are no mechanical calculators back then, in the present everyone seemed to have dificulties from it because of-

  • @arachlyco dependencies of mechanical calculators but our brain still calculate much faster than calculators on using it's senses e.g. sense of sight (still one of the fastest sense we all use everyday) Improving your math skills means a ton of practice and knowledge to master. Which also exercises our brain and its nerves. Our brain doesn't just calculate during math exercises. but also in every second of our lives. With this as a conculsion: ALL JOBS REQUIRE OUT BRAIN TO WORK. NOT JUST MATH.

  • With the strategy shown in this video it somewhat limits you when doing more then 2 numbers at a time. A lot of posters have shown very good ways to do it. For the example 523 + 343 + 488 it would be a lot simpler to think of it as 500+300+400, carry the 1200 into the tens digits which gives you 20+40+80 or 140 which now gives us 1340 going into the ones units of 3+3+8 for 14 or 1354.

  • Using the strategy below for 39x39.

    40x40=1600, 1 39 on each side= 2, 39's or 78. the distance from original number is 1, 1 squared =1. this leaves the final equatino 40x40 - 78 - 1 or 1600-80+1 or 1521.

IN step by step equation form

    40x40=1600

    39+39=78

    distance squared=1^2=1

    1600-78-1=

    1600-80+1=

    1520+1=1521

All those steps can easily be done in your head with practice.

  • 68^2= 70x70-272-4 or 4900-300+24 = 4624.simplest way for me to do squares that are close to a number I know. they 272 is 4 68's since your short 2 68s on each side, the 4 is the distance away from the original number squared. multiplying by 4 is easy also 68 becomes 136 becomes 272. A little practice and numbers near a square you know become easy.

  • 238+644 is most easily solved leaving the ones digit last. 23+64 =87_ (8+4)=12 87_ +12 =882

  • this is pretty stupid to round those numbers up, since most ppl prefer adding to substracting.

even if this silly little method was any good, you'd have to omit the last numbers (round them down to 10) then add the omitted numbers to the number you gotz.. eazy

  • Ya, this is spending way too much time on an addition problem.

  • Nice

  • What's wrong with the 'caption'?

  • OR.......you could just take the 3 seconds to do it the right way. Even if you are THAT STUPID, it's still quicker.

  • common sense bra....

  • #lol

  • i learned this shit since i was 8 years !!

  • Why use a load of time on this when the result is 882... I mean come on #LOL

  • 2+2+2+2+2+2= 12

    29838+89584390+839= 89615067

  • @dj76303 OAHHHH u r soo cute ^o^

  • this is how i do it 1 238

    +644 882

  • This exercise is for 1st class =))

  • i figured this out

  • why not 238 +644 =882

  • I know everyone's pointing out how much more complicated this is to do, but I think the intent of the video is to show a different path that might be easier to some people to do it in their head. By simplifying the numbers it's easier to some people to add, then figure out the difference. It doesn't simplify the process, but gives another way of doing it.

  • I'm 12 years old and what is this?

  • when I add two 3 digit numbers, I just start with the left and add. so:

    238 +

    644

    --------

    882

    I know 3+4 is 7 but 8+4 is 12 and I carried the 1

  • Isn't there a faster way? Like how to add from left to right?

  • stupid math.

  • You are making it too hard for yourself. Since the last digit in one of the numbers cannot be larger than 9, you just have to round one number.

  • can you solve this

in a hotel the bill was 75 dollar . the bill paid by three friends means 25 dollar each frieand pay than manager gave tham subsity of 5 dollar then those three frieds gave 2 dollar to waiter and reamening 3 dollars were divided between them this means each friend pay 24 dollar So 24+24+24=72+2=74 dollar

here is question were is the 1 dollar ?

  • its actually..

    24+24+24=72 + 3 = 75

coz 2 dollar is included in 24 dollar each N 3 dollar is da subsity... aaam.. wat i guess...

  • @Shakeelmandozi The total amount spent was origionally 75. Then they got 5 back so it became 70. Then they gave 2 away, so the total amount spent is 72. 72/3 = 24. The 1 dollar is still in their pockets.

  • @Shakeelmandozi

    its actualy

    24+24+24=72

as 72 already include 2 dollar tip to the waiter and 3 dollar need to come from the friends as manager chrg them only 70 not 72

  • most expertvillage videos are silly

  • Can you relly do this alllllllllll in your head lol

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • Overcomplicated. Just add each vertically aligned number accordingly and carry the left over digit to the previous number. Much simpler IMO.

  • lol i been using that technique since i was 11 now i am 18 and a video is post of it.. lol wow i feel a bit gifted lol

  • when i was 9 i used that technique too and im 12 now

    wow your gifted too awesome

  • OR i can use the calculator on my phone, on my laptop or on my computer.

  • but in some math competition you arent allowed to use one ;)

  • It's easier to add directly from left to right:

    2 + 6 = 8

    2 + 4 = 7

    8 + 4 = 12

Oops, a carry, so make last answer, 7 an 8 and continue. Answer is 882. It's easier because you can read out the answer as you calculate. If you did it right to left like most are taught, you'd have to do a painful reverse step from your memory. As for the technique in the video, it takes me more time to figure out what the rounding would be, and won't work too well on larger numbers of digits anyway.

  • much better

  • @lispnik 2+4=6 not 7:))

  • this is stupid, If your having problems doing 3 digit addition in your head, chances are you cant follow all these steps in your head.

  • by the time you do all this..you have been figured out what the number is...smh lol

  • Contenido arriesgado pero está muy bien.

  • I did it in a different way where I knew there would be a remainder in the first column, so I added 4+3, knew there would be +1 so that's 8. Last column was 8, work out the third column after those steps.

  • I have been doing this for years (about 28yrs). I thought that I was learning math wrong, or cheating or something. But this way always worked for me, when doing math in my head, and it was always easy this way. Glad I'm not alone.

  • haha my brother is 12 and he is doing this! is very simple!!!

  • xXKyrielleW43v3rXx (

for a person with the intellect you claim to have, you have horrible grammar

  • Comment removed

  • it is a lot of thinking. beh1310 - your rule is easer and better

  • The way I do it:

    238=200+30+8

    644=600+40+4

    then add columns so =800+70+12=882

  • @beh1310 excellent

  • @beh1310 can u do it in your mind?

  • So its round up to whole numbers then subtract. But yea whats left is the speed of mental calculation. Glory to newton!

  • he forget to add "if you are completely retarded" to the title of this video.

  • this is good, but a lot of formula's to remember, so technically wouldn't it be easier to do it normally? Who's going to remember all those formula's in their heads?

  • Your tip is Good for calculation which can be done using calculator. What a calculator can't do is creation of equations, math is not all about calculating numbers they are also about equations of actions and reactions. Use calculator which saves you time and energy and be creative. So focus more on equations which will reveal the beauty of the subject called mathematics.

  • rofl metalheart8787 238-240 is not 2!!! it ~2 u dumbass hahahahahhahahahaha ur dumb as hell!

  • More complicated is Right, first we need to

find out?! how much did we add? WTF

238 - 240 is obviously TWO! you don''t even need to do that! Also with this example is just better to do it the old Fasion way, its good for Multiplying Not simple Math!

  • It really is simpler to do this than the regular one, but the speed increase depend on your brain. Not everyone gains a big jump in speed when they do this, it all depends on if you are great at doing few, complex calculations or several simple calculations

  • I found a new way to fo it its pretty close to be being same but so we don't coonfiise anyone with changing the 644 into 650 because we all no anything lower han 5 should go into a 0....so lets keep it at 640.... so im gonna change 238 into 240 just as he did and then make 644 into 640....now with his idea u added 2 to the 238 so thats + 2 and then subtracted 4 to the 644 so thats -4..... well if u take -4 - + 2... u get a -2 well switch the integer to a +2 then add it to 880 and you get 882

  • he is right,

    you ARE a Retard

  • u fuckin RETARD go fuck yourself

  • ok to make a video game math is involved...and u want to make ur game as simple as possible

  • Go school, get smart. I think this is just lame to watch xD

  • I'm sorry, but you fail Slash9. Honestly, this video is pretty bad, but math videos in general? Most are interesting to anyone who has a brain, especially those concerning physics and how the world works. Also, you can learn many things they don't teach you in school. The way you present yourself makes it seem like you think it's OK to be idiot after school is over, like there is no need to learn outside of school. That's extraordinarily stupid. You should learn something new whenever you can.

  • yeah but our damn teachers are so god damn stupid....im going into 9th grade i actually had to teach my 8th grade teacher what i was doing....and make sure no one else was doing my homework

  • amazing man, that's what I always did and I didn't even know I was a genius !!!

  • this is going to be a lot easier & simple if u do th usual working..

  • u just make it more complicated...

  • this makes things so complicated

  • i learned this by myself in third grade!

  • 238+644= 644+200= 844,

    844+40= 884,

    884-2= 882.

  • I find it much easier to sum each number to the one on top of it from left to right in my head.

  • hey i use that sometimes when im in class!!!

  • And this is why I hate Expert Village. you can find me saying this on many of their vids. they suck at explaining things. I watch their videos thinking "oh, well they can't be all suckish"...everytime I fail to be proven right

  • -.- thats not smart

    i use this trick 24h

    no need to learn it

if inshtain was a live, he would spit on you

  • It took me a while :(

  • Large numbers??

Multiplying them would be more of a challenge, I suppose.

  • Indeed... when you add it is far more simple to add hundreds, tens ones one by one.

You just need to operate fast in head, when adding likes of 5,7, 6 (add 1 to tens you memorized from previous step and remaining to ones etc)

    173 + 456 =

    100 + 400 = 5 hundreds memorize

    70+50 = 120 - +1 hundred and 20 remains

    6+3 =9

    equals 629

  • I thought you said simplified moron.

Why not add the hundreths then the tens.

    600 +200=800 then 38+44= 82 total 682.

You rounded, then you subtracted, then you added, then you subtracted. I bet anyone could solve than faster than you.

  • lol

  • i dont even need 5 sec he nedded 1 min XD

  • why i have a ipod touch at all times..

  • You complicate the simplest of tasks.

  • I was thinking about the same thing. Because this is simple one belove another calculation, so there are no need to do tricks like that. 1 238

    +644

    ------- 882

What I mentioned above was teached you in primary school. And what if the number is bigger?

  • Weaksauce.

  • clever :)

  • eh ale emprane

  • You're kidding right?

Doing that addition in your head takes 10 seconds tops.

  • subbed!!

  • I knew that before -.- ... please think about specialized tricks -.- ...

  • lol this is baby stuff

  • my son knows dis and his in year 3 primary school

  • every body knows that trick!

  • this shit is long lol

  • I have a serious math problem , which i challenge anyone to solve .I can do it ,can anyone else ?

(posted here as a video reponse)

  • u r AWESOME MAN

  • You should have changed 644 in to 640 instead of 650.That way you only have to add 2 to the answer of 640 + 340.
