My LG8300 records all calls for 5 minutes but only records the other party. You can keep recording every 5 minutes if you remember.I use this feature for all in coming service calls so I do not have to stop and write them down.I get cell phone number, address and nature of call.Good business tool for sales.
@tOiNkzwNx Recorder is 99 cents, and records anything from the built in mic or headset. Call Recording minutes are purchased through in-app sales in blocks of 1 or 8 hours.
Several years ago I received a series of threatening phone calls and I called the FBI for advice. The agent advised me to record the calls. He explained to me that one party in the conversation must have knowledge of the call being recorded. Since I was aware of the conversation being recorded, the criteria was met. Perhaps the Patriot Act has modified that.
In the following States both parties must be aware the call is being recorded. California Connecticut Florida Illinois Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Montana Nevada New Hampshire Pennsylvania Washington
in the US you MUST inform a person that a call is being recorded, you cant just record a call like its nothing, you have to let the person on the other end know otherwise this is a great app.
No, you don't in the US; only 11 states require this. The others do not, and there is no federal law regarding this.
So, outside of those 11 states, most states only require the 'owner' of the line to be aware that there is a recording being made (in other words, I can record my phone call to you without your knowledge, but I can't record your call to someone else without your knowledge.
Has to be the dumbest thing I've heard off. I'm deleteing this app for the simple fact that they want to charge for call recording. Most cell phones in the world have been able to record calls for a long time, for free, and like another comenter mention, without the other party knowing! It's your phone and you can record anyone or anything. How you use that recording of course is another issue up to your descretion. i.e. Getting in legal trouble in your state.
It is illegal in many states to record a call without both parties being aware of it. We're currently looking into adding an option that would allow you to disable that feature.
Have to pay for the service. Cool.

rolandpad80 1 year ago 5
@rolandpad80 It only works on outgoing calls. We use a call recording service that has to initiate the calls.

Once you buy a block of recording time, can you re-use it?
Like, I buy the 1hr of recording time and record a 1hr call....can I delete that recording and use that 1hr block for to record another call?
yodelyodel 2 years ago
Once you've used recording time, you've "spent" it. After all, the call recording service bills us whether you delete it or not :)

I take it you get a long distance charge for the recorder site.

It's a area code 415 number...which should be the same cost as a 1-800 number for US users (the feature only works in the US currently)

Any plans to add this call record feature for Canada in the near future?
Last but not least why would it be so hard for the iPhone to record its own phone calls directly?
seriago 2 years ago
We are continually looking into ways to improve the service including making it available outside the US.
The hardware itself is certainly capable of doing so, but currently Apple doesn't allow a third party app to access the call to record it directly.

The newest version allows you to set whether or not you want the other party to be informed the call is being recorded.

You're correct, many phones include this feature. However, the iPhone does not, nor does it allow us to add this functionality in software.
The only way to currently record calls is to use an outside call-recording service, and there is a small fee associated with that.
If it ever becomes possible to record calls without charging, we will definitely be looking into it.
Also, as mentioned before, we're currently looking into allowing the user to disable the notification to the other party.

Yeah, but I don't always want the "call recipient" to know I'm recording the call. Why are they informed at all?
