This movie was terrible. Poorly made sad attempt at a more serious film and unable to settle on a clear idea......well according to the review that I promptly ignored right before I went out to see it. After having watched such a terrible film I feel glad to say that I must have no taste in cinema for I enjoyed it immensely and still do.
I showed this movie to my parents a while ago. When it was over, they both immediately said "This was really good" before I even asked their feelings about it.
I was surprised because that's REALLY rare from them. I usually have to ask their opinion, but not this time. They said it right away.
That makes this film even more special to me than it already is. :)
"There are some fish that cannot be caught. It's not that they're faster or stronger than other fish. They're just touched by something extra. One such fish was the Beast. And by the time I was born he was already a legend. He'd passed more hundred-dollar lures than any fish in Alabama."
I think this soundtrack really shows danny elfman's range as a composer. most of his work is kind of bouncy and quirky, while this piece has more of a mysterious southern feel to it that fits the story of this movie perfectly
@AutumnOddity Danny Elfman is a great composer but I think Hans Zimmer is the number one , he did all the best films soundtrack ( samourai , gladiator ,etc .. )
@Asswiperable If Hans Zimmer is number one, why do all of his pieces repeat the same musical themes and cues as his previous works? Why are two tracks in the Pirates of the Carribean and Gladiator almost identical? A great composer is not, cannot be, determined by the titles his works appeared in, but by his originality, creativity, and musical emotion.
@Flitterpaw Are you kidding me!? Hans Zimmer is inovative and has countless diverse and fantastic pieces. Danny Elfman constantly reuses the same sound over and over again. Honestly, I can't recall any Danny Elfman theme to my head because they're just not good. Of course, Big Fish being the exception. It's so fresh and moving compared to his other works. Just don't criticize Hans Zimmer.
For me, this is one of the best film scores in history. Meet Joe Black, Legends of the Fall, Edward Scissorhands, Superman Returns, Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire. The most incredible film scores.
@boingokky Over Lord of the Rings? Are you kidding me? I don't even understand how your comment is highest rated... It's definately a great piece of music but it's uncomparable to Lord of the Rings.
amazing movie <3 .. i love tim burton =)

God, Big Fish is just so fantastic. It just goes to show what kind of great things Tim Burton can do when he actually, you know, um... tries.

Brilliant piece. Reminds me very much of Thomas Newman. In My opinion, Newman is the best composer in the film industry. This is very good.

@Asswiperable Hanz Zimmer is still way up there. They have different styles; Danny's is quirky and Zimmer's is epic. lol

@Flitterpaw the pirate theme for some reason seems 'neutral' I hear it often for other trailers also..
