  • what a prophetic song...

  • Satan Rocks !!!!! :D

  • can we have more of these ancient celebrations of the seasons and the earth in the uk please. nowawdays samhain is commercialised and its purpose and symbolism is lost..shame

  • I say when I am 18 or when I tour Europe I will go there during a festival!!! I've heard about them and they seem like so much fun!

  • I wish the english scotish and Irish in the USA would practice their traditional... traditions .

USA is GAY... except me of course

  • There are a good number of festivals around the country. My hometown has a fairly nice Beltane festival that I return for every year.

  • you should realise that the majority of scots (the video above is filmed in edinburgh), irish and english do NOT celebrate - at least knowingly - pre christian festivals. There are residual elements of these customs in many modern day observed festivals, but as sad as it is, there are children in Scotland nowadays who talk of 'trick or treat' rather than guising. Its astonishing that how deeply American culture has penetrated.

  • That's Xian culture not American, friend. There are a great deal of American parents who teach our children the truth, not to say that these ancient practices are the correct or in some way pious ones, but rather that the christian faith has robbed EVERYONE of their native cultures through violence and therefore robbed them of whatever their future might have been including the richness and comfort of a home that is untainted by the greed of foreign nations.

  • well said. but the history of the human race is one of the extinction of cultures to be replaced by more powerful ones. for me, all these festivals and rituals give me is a sense of belonging, as i know many of my ancestors will have practiced very similar things. christianity, you could argue, is native to europe - its been in my own country for c. 1500 yrs.

  • Shame about the soundtrack (which you didn't credit... tut-tut), but I can understand why.

    nice vid, thanks

  • yay finally one for samhuinn. i want to go !!!

  • great vid... what's with the soundtrack though??

  • It helps to drown out all the people talking in the crowd. I wanted to spare everyone all the "Oh my God!" and "Totally". Besides, the performers were recreating the old traditions of Halloween and I thought the music went well with the performance. Cheers!!!

  • fair doos... seems a shame tho when there was so much great drumming on the night (she says modestly!lol!)

the editing is nice though... thanks!!

  • thanks lots sista / brother

    much cosmic energy to yoU!

  • My pleasure. This festival was one of the most enjoyable events I have experienced while living in Edinburgh. Hopefully, there will be more in the near future. Thanks for helping bring back the old traditions!
