  • I love Sandi Saraya,.,. pasense por mi canal, tengo un peke;o tributo.,.,.

  • Real rock with a real hot chic!😜

  • Sandi was at the top of her game with this song. I was 29 when it came out and sporting a Walkman with this song cranking up in the in Colorado mountains - best memories one can have. Thank you Saraya for the two LPs (shows my age), I play your music today going to-from work and it makes my day - excellent.

  • i cant believe myself how much i adore this song!

  • She has amazing voice! One of the best! :)

  • that was a jam back in the day, and still is!

  • Can someone tell me if this singer is the same one that sang the Black velvet song,.Or em i thinking of another singer.heard this on siruis radio i think the song rocks and i think it would be fun to play on the drums with those breaks.

  • @76pile the song Black Velvet was done by Alannah Myles

  • @76pile the song Black Velvet was done by Alannah Myles

  • I prefer the anders Osborne song of the same name

  • it's been a long time, I forgot all about this group.

  • Such a great voice, she reminds me of a female Jeff Keith (TESLA). Very melodic sounding, but just enough rasp to give it a bit of edge and attitude. They should have and could have been huge.

  • I wouldn't really call this AOR,but nevertheless,this kicks ass!

  • God damn it she could sing. Wish I could find a chick like that for my music.

  • I loved this band back in the day and still listen to them today. I believe their downfall was due to 2 reasons. Mainly, that they started near the Grunge era and the state of music was changing big time. The other reason is that the second album is nowhere near as good as the 1st. It has its moments, but not even close to the 1st album.

  • She was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hot!

  • Fucking Wicked !!!!!

  • Saraya seems of Italian or South American descent - anyone know?

  • She was great. People actually used to write great tracks.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!=D

  • hey, i remember this

  • THIS IS MUSIC!!!!

  • I litterally haven't heard this song in 20 years.Still as good as it was then.Didn't know she passed away.RIP it up,tear it up,have a ball.Love you Saraya!

  • @1ssjesus Sorry,wrong band member.

  • @1ssjesus SHE IS DEATH??? HOW AND WHEN????

  • @77REVOLTFORAFRIKA77 I recieved the wrong info.

  • Killer debut album . One of the finest AOR bands in the world .

    10 out of 10

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!! I REMEMBER SEEING THIS ON "HARD 30" BACK IN THE DAY!

  • sandy saraya...yummy...they were such a good band...god 80s metal was so epic and fun. the last musical explosion we'll ever see. grunge was all shit except fo niravan, and they were just cheap trick is disguise, lol. oh...7th day creeps are a pretty good band that knock it back to the 80s :)

  • this song kicks ass

  • Take my heart!! Oh yes!!

  • The musical quality of this video is.... Holy shit, that chick is hot!

  • I really liked this band ...i saw them a few times at Hammerjacks in Baltimore MD

  • On thing I love about hair metal is all the different subgenres. This stuff is more AOR oriented and hard rockish. Then there's the more metal stuff, the shred stuff, the borderline prog stuff, the funky stuff, the "street" stuff. All within one genre called hair metal.

  • Ace song still sounds good. Going to see her in October.

  • sandy saraya might of been the hottest hair metal singer ever!!!

  • @crzystll2day She is!

  • The guitar is bad ass, love this song. Im suprised it wasnt a bigger hit!

  • americas answer to Lee Aaron

  • Saraya was one sexy woman. wonder if she still looks good after 20 years

  • @JimmmyB100 I think so ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @JimmmyB100 .............I wonder the same thing.....she sings on Tony Harnell's cd....due out very soon....a song called "Shame".......and she still sounds good imo...

  • sorry, a nice face isngt enough for a good song.

  • @SuperAugustiner .......its a good thing this song rocked then ha?

  • sorry, a nice face isnt enough for a good song.

  • riff like still of the night

  • What is she doing at the 4:13 mark in this video??

  • @bostonphan68 looks like she's feeling herself up to get the guys excited, lol.

  • saw saraya at the ritz on w.54th st nyc back in the day. I won the tickets on wsou as they opened for mr. big and I think badlands.

  • saraya in firefest 2010 in october in nottingham

  • I've tabbed this song and Seducer, check my profile for more info.

  • GREAT to hear that Saraya will be performing at the Firefest Festival this coming October in the UK with all original members sans keyboardist Gregg Munier (RIP). Here's to hoping for more to come from this talented Jersey band!

  • Remember seeing them in 1989/90? in L'aMours in Brooklyn. Had a huge crush on Sandi as that was my idea of a hot 80's metal chick. Remember being right in front of the stager and the guitarist was cool even when I grabbed his tremelo bar on his blue strat (Yamaha Pacifica?)

  • Wow... how was this song not a BIG HIT? Music Industry is screwy!

  • Nice Sound... Lady's got pipes!! Saraya's classic!

  • Sandi will be singing on the upcoming Tony Harnell release......not sure how much....or when it will be released...

  • TNT Toni Harnell? Oh my that would be a vocal party for sure.

  • @musicman858 ........yep.......not sure when that cd will be out.....but will have to look for it......

  • absolutely top ten favorite song of all time. Riff and vocal kicks!

  • MARRIED BASS OF TESLA NOT DRUMMER

  • they are great

  • Saw them twice and met them at a meet and greet......great band.....still listen to their cd's....

  • Met her at the Cat club In NYC back in the 80's friends band opened for them.had a Bacardi and coke with her great person great voice and looks..Wish we could have some good music like this again!!! Halestorm comes close they are pretty good!

  • i never heard of them but ill have to look more into them

  • Loved it when it was released and still love it today.Great riff, great voice and very easy on the eye.

  • I think that she is still in married to Hollywood star, but I do not know how he called

    PS:sorry for my bad english

  • she married the drummer from tesla

  • Actually Sandi Saraya is currently married to actor Brendan Kelly and has 4 children!!

    From Wikipedia

  • Sandi was once married to Brian Wheat, bass player from Tesla.

  • Where is she these days ?

  • She's over on the east coast last I heard

  • Still in music or married ?

  • Married

  • She's so damn sexy rock'n that pool cue 0:21

  • Great track and band. Too bad the end of the track is cut short by about 30 seconds or so. Very similar two The Baby Animals. ie. Strong lead female vocalist with looks, great guitar work and drumwork+good songwriting.

  • Saw them open for Bad English in Pgh. The power went out during their set. They were just like"ok sorry people and laughing" somebody yelled "drum solo" laughed and said well ok...so he did, got the crowd into it, power came back on and they went on, great show, great attitude. Great looks and voice. BE was very good as well that night.

  • This was pretty good! It came up on my recommended list, and I almost passed it up. Something about it nagged at me, and I'm glad I got to see and hear this band.

  • For melodic rock, this is as good as it gets. Polygram wanted this to be the female Bon Jpvi. But they gave up too soon. This was a top 10 AOR mainstream track. This chic could sing. The guitarist was excellent too.

  • @taxingme2much e female Bon Jovi? It's only the singer who's a chick, Vixen was the one's who were considered as the female version of Bon Jovi

  • Music hasn't rocked like this in the mainstream for a long time .Every time someone tries, it's literally a joke.

  • @aalton Look up Treat's new album, you will like.

  • Great f'n cd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow this woman is incredible sounding and looks to match. This is my Favorite Saraya track i've heard but unfortunately i cannot find too many here. I love youtube over the last year I have discovered a whole new selection of singers which have become favourites. Saraya, Lee Aaron, Lorraine Lewis, Chrissy Steele, Heart (had heard some tracks before but did not know they were by Heart).

  • Don't forgot Dilana :)

  • Strangely I don't really like Dilana's voice that much, too smoky for me.

  • does anyone have a demo cut of one of Saraya's songs that I don't believe made any albums (I could be wrong)? i can't recall the name of the song but heard about year ago from someone on MySpace.

  • She looks a little like Eric Martin (back in Mr. Big)

  • I pull out my Saraya cassette occasionally and listen to this song.

  • cassette... I understand completely!

  • I still wonder that with cassettes being so prevalent in the 80s, why they havent made a re-surgence the way the 8-track is looked about today.

  • Well cassettes were pretty annoying lol. One had to rewind and FF to get to the song you wanted, it took forever! If you didn't have some kind of counter on your tape deck you'd have to guess as to where the beginning of the song might be - you know - rewind...nope not there yet...rewind...oops went too far back, FF... Some kept flipping (maybe the overplayed ones), I'd have to pull out all of the tape & manually wind the whole thing. Some started screeching over the music after a while.

  • Sandi Saraya is the most talented vocalist I have ever known(of). She has the most incredibly Beautiful voice I have EVER heard. To the day! I first discovered her band 20 plus years ago and I'm still in love with her! Absolutely Gorgeous, Vibrant, and alive! She has the most beautiful smile I've ever seen. It could light up my state of California! Dang it man, I wish she was still performing. She is definitely one of a kind, and will always have the most beautiful voice ever! I Love You Sandi !

  • Sadly, the closest in looks (I think) is Shania Twain... Good voice for her genre... She can't hod a note to Sandi, but, "Sha na na na na... Love has taken... It's toll! If she perfoms again, I will be shocked!

  • i thought her name was patty. patty saraya?

  • Sandra Saraya Salvador Kelly<---her full name

  • More straight ahead than Benatar and Heart. Totally passionate AOR. A portrait of 1989. This deserved to be one of the great breakouts of all time. It almost was.

  • lol im named after this band except my name got to be spelled diffrent but this is where my mom got my name from lol thats crazy

  • I really like the song, especially the guitars! :)

  • Saraya was an awesome band, there was alot of groups back then with female vocalists, especially from Canada like The Headpins, Lee Aaron, Chrissy Steele, Toronto, Pat Benetar, Nicky Buckley, Falcon Angel

  • The Foreigner tune of the same name is a better song. These guys are a decent representation of a female fronted band, but the guitarist from Vixen is highly underrated, both in beauty and talent.

  • best 80's band with a girl vocalist that ive seen

  • Thatd be Heart or the Bangles

  • well ya ur rite actually i like there music better over all tho especially this song

  • That would be Phantom Blue. No disrespect to the other bands, but they had great tunes and a lot of attitude.

  • It's Heart meets Pat Benetar...Totally rockin song!

  • She is by far the hottest chick from the 1980's

  • Sandi sure can sing!!!!!!!!

  • This song is true rock and roll !!! Awesome,,5 Kick Ass Stars !!!

  • nice acoustic whoeva that guy is

  • tony bruno...who has moved far up in the music world. do a search.

  • oh okay. still, nice accoustic

  • He played with Joan Jett also if I'm not mistaken. He's a great guitarist!

  • He plays with Danger Danger.

  • My Uncle Gregg was the keyboard player in Saraya. I am sure you probably know but he passed away a few years ago from pneumonia...Rest in peace Uncle Gregg, I love you!

  • Gawd, that's terrible. Why do the rockers die so young? :(

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.

  • OK why don't my last two comments post where I replied??? Aaarrgggh.

  • can't believe this went overlooked, but nonetheless it is NOT TRUE. she is in california happily married with five kids now.

  • Had Sandi in my studio at WPHR(FM) in Cleveland when this song was first out. I can tell you that she is even hotyer in person...and just as sweet and real as she is gorgeous. I have an amazing acoustic version of this song that she did in our production studio on open reel somewhere around here. One take, awesome performance. Her and a guitar. I don't know where she is now but she has a genuine talent that is rare indeed.

  • sehr Geiles Stück (muke)

  • she is very hot

  • The good old days !! really bad that this super hit rock song never went a big Hit

It came At the same time that the grunge-drug shit

nirvana and other junkies who couldnt play took over the billboard hit list

I read that the keybord player died sorry for that

    r.i.p rocker

  • yea 1989 the being of the end for rock and metal both. thats when MTV screwed it over by startig to play mor erap and the such. now the only thing on TMv is pop and rap. i hate MTV now.

  • My boyfriend Terry was the studio drummer for this band Saraya at one time! This song is upbeat and very cool. Love it! Thank you for sharing this video!!

  • The hook that starts at 0:37 reminds me of part of Van Halen's "Cabo Wabo" after Ed's solo (~3:48 on the disc version).

  • Very true!!!!!!

  • Let me tell ya. Ages ago I saw this band in a small club in Newark NJ called "Studio 1". To this day I STILL say that it was the best sounding live band I have ever heard. The first album is a rock masterpeice. I played this tape(yeah, I said tape) in my car over & over till it died. Then I went & found another one & killed that one too. The songs never get old. My favorite is "Drop the Bomb"....good to hear it again.

  • i have this on vinyl :)

  • had this on tape too...wore it out in my car too :P

Didn't this guitarist (Tony Rey is it? I'll look it up in minute) play on the *first* Danger Danger album too?

  • To answer my own question, yeah it was Tony Rey.

  • Sandi sayraya is a power house vocilist!!!!

  • This song kicks ass. Diggin' the video too. Thanx for posting it!

  • good song- girls got a great set of pipes- thanks for posting- have missed hearing this.

  • Saraya were a great band. I saw them late 80's (I think) supporting FM on a UK tour.

  • Who is FM? You mean Fleetwood Mac? If so then that's an interesting combination of bands.

  • no FM are a UK AOR/Blues band bit like Bad Company meets Journey

  • I know Sandy since 1982, she grew up in Bogota,NJ and we dated for a about 2 years.I wont say I am the one who got her out there but I can say I learned songs for her(Pretenders) and she would sing to them way before her Saraya days. we had a blast together, she loved my band and guitar playin..She always had an awesome voice and looked amazing but too all who never knew her personally, she is a great person, wicked sense of humor and deathly loyal to the people she loves in her life..Miss ya San

  • Thanks a lot for posing your memories. What band were you in? Anyone we may have heard of?

  • I heard Sandy Saraya passed away 2 years ago from breast cancer. Anyone confirm that?

  • no she last i knew at a concert production co in pheonix called screamworks

  • ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE

  • Boy this takes me back! Wicked song, she growled it out SOOO sexy! Makes a joke of the crap we hear nowadays...

  • ok, forgive my ignorance... but what is AOR?

  • AOR = Album-Oriented Rock or Adult-Oriented Rock

  • what happened to these guys? Oh, grunge arrived.... : ( Shame they were really cool, could have been big.

  • woauw

  • hey this is really interesting i didnt know there was a band with my name true i must get the album

  • my best friend named her baby girl Saraya!! she is so cute

  • anybody know where you can pull the download for "love has taken its toll" ??

  • Saraya's first album was the first CD I ever bought myself after reading its review in Metal Hammer back in the UK. What a memory...

  • I remember this video from Saraya on MTV from about 1987-1989 I believe & have not seen it in almost 20 years, OMG !!!!!!! What the hell happened ?!?!? Thanks for posting this, F-CKIN' ROCKS !!!!!! AWESOME !!!!! Anybody know the girl's name singing ?? Saraya, I'm guessing ???

  • "singer Sandi Saraya, guitarist Tony "Bruno" Rey, bassist Gary Taylor, keyboardist Gregg Munier, and drummer Chuck Bonfante." :-)

  • That's right; Sandi Saraya, cool; now I remember, I used to have this album on vinyl, back in the day . . amazing, thx !

  • Likewise. I have been looking for this song for years. Reminds me of good times.

  • If I weren't bald, I'd bring the mullet back

  • Oh PLEEEAZE, NOOOOOOO....

  • Sorry man, like all things vintage....it WILL make a comeback........as SCARY as that seems.

  • Not the way you might be thinking. Good tune

  • Man, this band just furthers the evidence that if your record company doesn't get behind you and put your music out there you end up not getting the credit you deserve. Unfortunately, this practice still holds true to this day - if not even more so.

When a band like Saraya goes practically unnoticed yet Twisted Sister goes on to make millions writing refuse like "We're Not Gonna Take It" then you know the industry is completely whacked!

    Thanks for the post!

  • Agree whole heartily about "Long Live 80's Rock". When rock music then was good times and upbeat melodies, fun in the sun, river parties, beach parties, driving your hotrod, Friday and Saturday nights out at rock & roll clubs. Cruising the streets with music blasting.

  • great song ,I can picture myself driving my 89 chevy z28 to this song. plus what a hottie

  • Great band, great songs :D Rock!

  • sorry, i mean, WHEN the band got separated.

  • Man I remember this band. Very underated. Does anyone know what Sandy looks like today? I know the big hair is gone.

SHE WAS A HOTTIE BACK IN THOSE DAYS. I use to have this tape.

  • it seems the band got splitted out.

sandi is rasing her kids and it seems is devoted to GOD , and also it seems she doesnt wanna know anything about her past and after Gregg Munier passed away , more reason for her to leave everything behind.

    :(

i hope someday we could see all this bands again...

    LONG LIVE 80´s!!!

  • Say...where did you get this information?

  • Cool, thanks for the info. I knew Greg Munier passed way (RIP) and every metal show on VH1 doesn't seem to talk much about this band. LONG LIVE THE 80's, they were more 90s maybe late 80s. Check out Femme Fetale or Vixen.

Man I miss my long hair and snakeskin boots.

  • i still have my long hair, but not the boots :P

    LONG LIVE 80´s!

  • Femme Fatale and Vixen rule! Also check out Chrissy Steele and Lee Aaron for female fronted AOR/Hard and Melodic Rock!

  • Just because she's a Christian, it would seem to be odd she'd forget her past. It wasn't like she was a heroin junkie or a prostitute or something traumatic.

  • The bridge is brilliant.......Love is like an edge of a Knife, Cold and Hard and waiting to Cut you. What a great line!!!

  • This song rocks, and she is not to look at.

  • sandy baby,nice tune.great voice

  • I never thought a woman could front a rock and roll band...Sandi changed my mind forever! She is the best female Rock and Roll singer ever and one of the best singers of all time! What a great band and DEKE you are absolutely right...they deserved a much better fate! I still am in love with her...as much as when I first heard them...what...20 years ago! My god...it's been that long????

  • Saraya are a classic example of the mismarketing of a band. They got lumped into the "hair band" category that was so popular when they released their debut album. They weren't hair metal, they were a straight-ahead rock band. When hair metal died, their career did, too.

Saraya were a GREAT band. They deserved a much better fate.
