  • Nice propaganda!

  • I think the stories of wind farms making people ill sick is ridiculous, just like the phone masts fiasco. They put up a phone mast in one place and there were complaints of headaches and suchlike blamed on the mast before it was even switched on.

  • Stupid.

  • Look at Denmark where they completed studies and concluded they had to move the turbines away from people who are getting ill from living in the areas downwind of the big wind farms. This is no joke.

  • Beautiful!!! :-))

  • Ich liebe Bach.

  • way to prove your point with nothing

  • What the Fuck?!

  • Noise VS Radiation, Asthma producing and potentially cancer causing fossil fuel emissions. Hmm, I can't decide what is more of a hazard. People have some really ass backwards priorities. Look how many dots he put at the end of the description. Here I will do the same thing: Some people tell me that the air quality in Ohio is the worst in the country due to all the coal fired plants up and down the Ohio river............................

  • I built a wind turbine in my back yard and it plays Mozart non stop. I've started building stadium seating too so it can hold a concert in the future.

  • Whats the point of naming this video noisy wind farms and all we can hear is the violins playing...And yes they do make a noise...

  • @williamwagener... Oh and far, far more people have died or been injured building and maintaining wind turbines than nuclear power plants. There's lots of drawbacks to nuclear but at least use some facts to inform your opinion.... please.

  • @williamwagener ...2 20 miles up the coast. 22,000 people are dead many never to found. Entire cities flattened. Compare the recover costs or for that matter look at any indicator of comparative damage. What should we be afraid of most? Natural disaster and 9.5 earthquakes or nuclear plant accidents? Its safer to work in a nuclear power plant or live beside it than it is to fly in airplane or drive a car.

  • Complete propaganda.

Look up this YouTube video: "What Wind Turbines Sound Like"

Or this one: "Wind Turbine noise at 1600 feet"

Or simply trust that people who complain about them aren't lying. And it's the visual aspect, not just noise. They are invading natural landscapes.

  • @Antithropocentric the visual aspect annoys you? do train tracks, roads, cell phone towers, satellite towers, water towers, sky scrapers, amusement parks, telephone poles? silo's? bridges? I happen to think wind farms are Gorgeous. because i understand what they can do for the future. you desensitize yourself to so many aspects of our landscape but pick up on this 1. Good job putting a lot of thought into the whole picture.

  • @brandoncotten So far, no one anywhere can even demonstrate that all the wind turbines have had any measurable impact on GHG reductions. No one. Look at Germany. In Europe, the ONLY country to come close to mandated GHG reductions is France and that is because they are nearly 80% nuclear.

In Ontario, the Wind Industry continues to claim that our few/partially used coal plants are killing hundreds of people a year - even though, year after year, our air quality is improving - without IWTs.

  • THE NOISE IS NOT NEXT TO TURBINE ITS WOSE around half a mile away. Dummmies

  • Obviously the clip uploader has never heard (of) infrasound or low frequenses. Maybe his hearing is already impaired, who knows.

  • thumbs DOWN!!!

  • I thought they were supposed to sounds like a vuvuzela.

  • Less troublesome, than Fukushima Nuclear total MELT DOWN and on going poisoning of the Ocean near Japan and the world.

  • @williamwagener yeah, yeah, yeah, we're all going to die..... read a little about what's happening there. Worst recorded natural disaster in Japan. Impacts from nuclear damage - zero deaths, 2 workers exposed to levels of radiation which may increase their chances of cancer, 2 other workers received burns from short exposure to contaminated water, 2 workers died from the tsunami itself. Ongoing public and posted monitoring of radioactive material. ....2

  • it makes a "classic" noise!

  • finally found some that are actually really REALLY bad noisy. If you see ONE, ONLY ONE and it's silent...what's to complain about, right? Those who DO complain are not morons. Are you aware how loud 30 or 60 make?? AND AND...A-N-D...they do make a HORRID noise in high winds...X 30 or X90 So DO NOT look a a silent one and wonder what the complaining is about. Don't judge a silent lone windmill and compare it to 60 of them in high winds, or when they get bad bearings that make even worse noise.

  • No they don't make much noise.... only a complete moron would complain

    watch?v=JD0v9_zV2uk

  • @peterfarrow You mean the ones YOU'VE seen didn't make much noise at the time you observed them. I believe that. You should see and hear the ones people complain about, perhaps. Because they are LOUD LOUD LOUD and make the most annoying sounds. People generally don't complain about "some" noise, they complain about a-lotta-noise, noise you have YET to witness.

  • @stevenhoog1

Thats simply not true, you are just a nimby moaning and complaining with nothing better to do, I live right next to a wind farm, they are graceful and peaceful and not loud at all. Quite simply put, your exageration to satisfy your own personal gratifaction is very obvious. You are probably more worried about the value of your property and use this as an excuse. Do not be absurd, they are not loud at all... get a life.

  • @peterfarrow Again, because you seem slow ot thick headed or stubborn. You cannot generalize YOUR windfarm that is not very loud at all to ALL windfarms in America. There are indeed SOME (not all) that are VERY noisy at 100 decibles. Do you see ONE snake and then think you know about ALL the snakes in America? Some windfarms are VERY LOUD. I hear the one by you is not.

  • @stevenhoog1

Really, you are just searching for support for a sorry crusade through misinformation. You can't even spell decibel, claiming 100 decibels is totally absurd.

100dbs at the distance buildings are constructed from wind turbines and given the height and size (100's of metres away), is enormously loud.

Not ever in years of working with wind turbines have I even seen one that comes close to that, you are, simply put, talking out your backside. Wind turbines are green and quiet.

  • @stevenhoog1

    watch?v=-1gZjDgQWFE

3:49 in, big turbine, blowing a gale, windnoise on the camera is louder that the blades at the base of the turbine.

QED = NOT NOISY, no go and annoy someone else...

  • @peterfarrow Ohhhh, I guess ALL of them are like that. Idiot.

  • No worries we can build a nuclear plant next door or perhaps you would prefer a coal fired plant?

  • @uChakide I like nuclear but coal is cheaper. I can't decide...maybe can we get BOTH???

  • You stupid STUPID STUPID DUMB ASS MOTHERFUCKER. You put MUSIC over the sound of "NOISY wind farm"??????????? Really???? You actually took time out of your day to cover up the NOISY wind farm? That makes SENSE to you? We SEE these all the time. I wanted to HERE one. So I go to NOISY WIND FARM, right? and I hear classical music. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? You dumb stupid moron.

  • @stevenhoog1 that comment oozes so much win i cant put it to words :'( you hero

  • @stevenhoog1

Thats the point, there is no noise to speak of so you might as well have some bach... enjoy...watch?v=JD0v9_zV2uk

  • The problem is "GREEN" energy is not always correctly labelled. CO2 frenzy is triggering very reactive, panic driven, poor policy decisions. Since wind energy is reliant on the variance of wind being present, a backup system is required. That back up system is usually natural gas powered steam turbine power plants to maintain consistent power. These Natural Gas plants boil water 24 hours a day 7 days a week to keep the water boiling to make steam, to make electricity, just in case.

  • Get a life you idiot! Gas is up to 4 dollars a gallon!

  • @speedyboi94

Thats cheap, where can I get that....

  • Does it has a remote to switch tunes? It's so frickin high up there, you know?:D

  • my friend lives near wind turbines he says they are noisy, but when i went to the wind farm i heard nothing but wind hitting trees :S

  • GOD THE NOISE IS UNBEARABLE ITS HORRIFIC! i had no idea wind turbines sounded like classical music. THUMBS UP FOR SARCASTIC FIRST SENTENCE!

    lol

  • I like wind turbines. However, I can't figure how you are contributing to the argument by playing music over the video. I would have thought the best argument would be to place the microphone under the wind turbine and let the wind turbine represent itself.

  • Wow... wind turbines make music when then spin? :D

  • @devilzzzzzzzzzz yeah. those at windturbines(dot)net do. seriously. :)

  • @devilzzzzzzzzzz if turbines make music i'd totally buy one as long as i can change it

  • Comment removed

  • These are 'Enercon' turbines, made by the German 'Enercon' company, they are the quietest in the business, the 'Siemens' turbine, also German is almost at quiet, and both turbine makes feature very careful aerodynamic design to stop the localized airflow over the blades hitting the tower, so they don't 'wump', people complaining about wind farm noise are complaining about other, often older designs of wind turbine. I also think Enercon machines are the most beautiful looking of all turbines.

  • @ChuffChuffWoo

correct enercon has very quite wind turbines

they are very beautiful but look at vestas turbines they are even better looking!

  • @KendallsVideos I think 'Bonue/Siemens' turbines look rather nice too...

  • it is such a low frequency, it is a noise you feel more than hear

  • Moron

  • @junkrocker Are you dense ? Did you read his comment ?

  • @junkrocker .../2 ...in different conditions, time of day etc. Even in Denmark, the national energy company recently announced "no more onshore IWTs... too many complaints from residents". Can everybody be a NIMBY? Or are the real NIMBY's the people who are are all in favour of these machines but aren't close enough to them to ever be affected in any way? 2km Setbacks everywhere - that get's rid of most of the sound impacts.

  • @junkrocker @junkrocker Whole bunch of reasons. Position/type of the microphone, speed of the blades. Direction of the sound. Acoustics is a science with highly specialized engineers who spend their careers in sound measurement and analysis. My issue with these types of videos is that they simply misdirect people's opinions on the impact of IWTs and they all marginalize ordinary people's evidence that there are impacts. Sound needs to be measured over a long period of time..../2

  • The only time they make a lot of noise is when the wind is 40 mph...but when the wind is 40 mph, it's going to be noisy without the turbines!

  • @KellyThundercloud You are exactly right the wind is going to be noisier than the turbines.

  • It is very true that older or unmodified wind turbines emit a loud sound when rotating. This is documented all the time, but it's easily fixed and they already have upgrades and modifications to any of the turbine types, which in turn makes them virtually un-noticable, such as these in the video. It's easily fixed people.

  • @gcoble There are hundreds and hundreds of people who have documented significant noise from recent installations. Every the president of CanWea admitted that IWTs are industrial machines and they make noise. Research and surveys in Ontario indicated that there are very view complaints if there are 2km setbacks (which is what Germany, France, New Zealand and a few other countries have implemented. These are not "virtually unnoticeable" but I agree. It is easily fixed. 2km setbacks.

  • Comment removed

  • @abrahamrichie1 Not sure what statement is idiotic. Hmmm. Lets see. 1000s of IWTs that work some of the time or 1 nuke (btw - read the safety record of the nuclear power industry - its impressive) that works all of the time. If the US would get off their butts and build a state-of-the-art recycling/reprocessing facility, and add a few more plants, they could shut down most of their coal generators and really eliminate GHGs.

  • By industry, do you mean the Wind Industry? or the Oil industry? or the Gas Industry? Its getting pretty hard to tell them apart. All I know is the Big Oil doesn't like Nuclear at all - probably b/c its so damn safe. People. Read. Why don't you compare how the Gas Drilling co's treat local residents and compare that to how the Wind co's treat local residents.... Oh wait. They're often the same companies.

  • BTW. The Chinese are working feverishly not only on manufacturing IWTs cheaper than the Germans, the Danes, or GE, but also mass-producing small nuclear reactors. Imagine if the US lets its own nuclear power industry starve to death. The US should be driving all this innovation - CCS, Energy Storage, next gen Nuclear... instead they're putting other countries' windmills up. Very strategic.

  • Second fact: these structures are 450-600ft tall - the size of a 50 story building. If a 50 story building kills birds ("milliions" of birds according to pro-wind posters), then a 600ft tall structure with a blade structure the size of a Boeing 747 rotating at its extremity at about 120mph is going to kill birds. We know that it kills lots of bats through explosive decompression of their lungs (the pressure differential behind the turbine is well documented). The only real question is how many?

  • Hundreds and hundreds of people who live within a mile of IWTs have reported loss of sleep and multiple other effects. Many of these people originally supported the installation of IWTs in their communities for all the well-known reasons. People, research this. Fact: the % of people who report health impacts as a result of proximity to IWTs is greater than 0% and less than 100% (sounds silly but I'm asserting that there are honest, responsible people of many political persuasions affected).

  • @Northwesley The poster doesn't have anything to say about this though, does he? Just because you can't pick up sub-audible, health-affecting noise on a camera doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  • LOL. Quite the commentary. But I agree that they make very little noise.

  • My volume must be broken because all I can hear is a loudmouth, tree-huggin' asshole with a camera.

  • @Pitt4120501 OK. But I'm a tree-hugger and I don't think there's much in common between a 500ft IWT built on a 60ft concrete pad often in the middle of a forest in which an area the size of a football field has to be clearcut. AND they do NOTHING to get us off of oil. They just provide reasons for the Energy companies to build more "back-up" gas-fired generating plants to increase the market for shale oil gas.

  • @Northwesley You are a stupid person. And you are ignorant. That about makes you retarded. Please quit commenting on videos because it makes more work for people who are trying to read something that makes sense. Thanks for your time and go play with your blocks now.

  • @MandalayWind Hi there, Windy. Thanks for the incisive and clear contribution to the debate. As I've suggested elsewhere to an anti-wind poster who got a little carried away with four letter words, science and evidence works a lot better most of the time. i take it you're personally invested in the Wind Industry, correct?

  • cool

  • lol.. 20 meters and i can't here shit... Why is the world not running off these things, instead of all these fucking power plants that are polluting our earth?

  • @ObArT101

Because its not something which can be installed in most geographical locations nor is it currently possible to efficiently store the energy for when winds are too low in the few places that are. Any business model which relies on government subsides to survive, like wind farms, is doomed to failue once the taxpayers get sick of funding a money pit.

  • @ObArT101 Because they don't work that way. Research it. Even the Danes have to use co-generation or buy power from other countries b/c of the variable nature of wind energy. Without large widespread use of energy storage, which is too expensive today, variable energy must be used when it is produced. If it isn't needed by the grid at that time, its either wasted (turn the IWTs off) or sold at a loss to some other countries that can take it on. Nice dream though.

  • neither i understand why there's noise pollution coming from the windmills in Cities XL -.-

  • ok seriously! He is ticked off about how stupid and ignorant people are and continue to be about green energy! I completely understand why he is spouting off the chosen words, when you have to hear people spread the lies about these when they are CLEARLY not noisy, not killing animal or people it pisses you off!! Oil murders! Wind does not!

  • @shaundraivy

Ok then libtard, if you hate oil so much quit whining about it on your petrolum based computer products, move out of your suburban bubble powered by fossil fules, and move to the desert or whatever else middle of nowhere else place can sustain wind farms, which even then is completely dependant on government subsdies to survive. Its a useless money pit based on junk science.

  • @KiloByte69 why do small minded people such as yourself have to resort to name calling...is it because your brain age is stuck on four or is it because you don't understand science....how is wind power junk science? Holland has used it for hundreds of years. Parts of California and other states use wind farms every day for energy....and no it IS NOT government dependent....please go and grow a brain

  • @shaundraivy

LOL, you're one to talk when they can't even understand the simple economics of government subsdies. You're a dumbass, hows that for name calling?

  • @KiloByte69 you are a sad excuse for a human....I really hope your stupidity does not pass to any children you bring into the world.

  • Comment removed

  • @shaundraivy

Ok dipshit, now go back to supporting politicans whose sole purpose is to think of new and innovative ways to pickpocket American taxpayers to fund pork projects.

  • @shaundraivy Better do a little more research. In the US and in Europe, the Big Wind companies are the Big Oil/Gas Companies. One and the same. Look at their business model. Lobby govts to get "green" voters (like yourself). Build IWTs as fast as possible at 3-10times guaranteed pricing, then build co-generation plants (mostly Gas) to level out the variable wind generation. Voila. You have now got 2x govt subsidies to supply two identical capacity generation facilities where one would be enough

  • @Northwesley My family has been in talks to have several on parts of our property...I'm not just a "green" voter, but looking towards jobs and fair economics...you may be right, but wind is the future any company understands future money...if it helps create jobs, better for the economy and planet; I am for it

  • @shaundraivy Well in that case, and I'm sure that you're doing this already, make sure you do a lot of due diligence on the agreements. There are kits and guides published on the web that provide advice to land lessors. Try to get the "gag" clause out of the agreement - if anything does go wrong, you will have a lot more leverage if it isn't in the agreement. And good luck to you.

On the jobs front, read the work done recently analysing job creation in Spain. Its depressing.

  • @shaundraivy I think its pretty clear at this point that all the IWTs in Europe haven't had an impact on the planet. Without cost-effective storage, variable energy generation doesn't lead to much displacement of carbon burning modes apparently. If Big Wind/Big Oil co's really want to help the economy, we need energy that is cheaper than wind/solar, a North American based industry (nuclear?), and research on CCS and energy storage. Make all new passenger cars electric within 10 years!

  • @shaundraivy And maybe you might want to talk to your neighbours at least those that are within 1mile of any site. (I'm assuming your talking about the 500ft IWTs). Why don't you ask the company to provide you with their noise/complaints records at other sites - that will tell you how much community disruption you might expect. Of course, if your family has thousands of acres of land, then that isn't a problem at all. Good luck - I hope it works out for your family.

  • I think of it as the sound of money being given to me every year from the power company.

  • Why is the audience Male 45-54

    Male 35-44

    Male 55-64 ?

  • Look at the speed of the blades.... the noise these things make will never be picked up by your camera....... the frequencies would be to low to be heard (back of the envelope calculations based on your video gives me 12Hz)... (to low to hear) but entirely possible that it could have other effects more in line with air pressure changes that alert wildlife to storms etc (but constant).... it is entirely possible that this could be annoying ...research anyone?... you proved nothing...just saying

  • ENERCON :-) No gearbox, no noise. OK at 6 beaufort the turbine in front of my window is a little bit louder, but traffic noise is always worse.

  • nice....

  • would be great except lets consider who looks up these the most often? young school kids in primary school trying to learn about renewable energy.

Consider your target audience before you post such foul langage.

    -26 year old father.

  • Did you know that the noise amplifies the further the distance from it ? so you sitting underneath it is incredibly in accurate. I invite anyone who says they are not noisy to actually live day in and day out near them dealing with the constant noise. Then they have a right to voice an opinion as to how tolerable it is.

  • @Corallibrary I have been near these...both up close and far away! THEY ARE NOT NOISY! Hell down the road there are two different schools that have these literally right beside the baseball field! If they killed birds or were distracting or noisy, would they really put those near children? I think not!

  • His foul mouth perfectly expresses the amount of noise coming from the windmill.

  • any way he should use a device , something to measure the noise..

  • @GRATZIANI2002 - measuring things only gives information as to what the measuring instrument is designed to pick up and display. it doesn't indicate the reality of hearing and feeling the noise pollution, so is of very limited value. put it this way - if some device picks up a disturbance above the normal nature-sounds of planet Earth, then it's going to be audible or picked up by other human senses anyway. so we already know it's noise-pollution.

  • You kiss youre mama with that mouth? jeeze

  • he is trying to prove a point that they arnt noisy!

  • dude i dont think your makeing your point maby you should be louder

  • omg! they are well pretty

  • the camera makes more noise

  • all i can hear is wind

  • The turbines featured in this video are 4.5 MW Enercon E112 machines, some of the most technologically advanced utility-scale turbines on the market.

These blades are the most aerodynamically efficient and quietest blades in the industry with a power coefficient of .51 (compared to .47 for a typical GE or Vestas machine).

Direct-drive solutions like these that eliminate the need for a noisy, unreliable gearbox will deliver the lowest cost of energy period. And in a clean, renewable manner.

  • the noise you can't hear? give me a break

  • Go and live with someone who lives near one, just for 2 weeks and then see what you think. The problem is no the noise we can here but the noise we can't. It still affects us even if you can't here it. Just go and live with someone who is within 2 km and then post your vid.

  • It's obvious that the guy works for a windmill co. trying to make a statement of no noise. He is up wind from the windmill, and yes about 800 to 2000 feet down wind will be the worst. I live with it it's low frequency noise. And exceeds industrial noise standards.

  • All I can hear is the noise of your voice HUR HUR HUR

  • If Wind Turbines Make Noise It Is Not as Loud As The Earth Dying Screaming

  • eyyyyyy clean you ears man jejjee

  • yeah right you probebly have air bubbels in your ears from yorning too much ¦O

  • Comment removed

  • You realize the ones people complain about are much larger than the ones you recorded...Just saying.

  • I laughed my ass off when he was talking.

  • Is that at Caprock NM?

  • Comment removed

  • i was standing right below one the only noise they make is the wind blowing from the wings

  • yes If you stand right underneath one they do create a noise but that is why people do not build houses directly underneath them and why turbines are usually placed at least a 1/4 mile from a home.

  • so if they like blow up no body is in danger and so the company cant get sewed

  • False 800 ft to 2000 feet down wind is the loudest. They don't build under the windmill because of the safety. The dam blades come off, daaa!

  • @darrylmueller

I would like you to find one example of a blade just falling off.

  • @darrylmueller do u work for exxon or shell?

  • Oh yes, very scientific.

  • They're noisy if you're RIGHT NEXT to them, but otherwise not really.

  • Actually, they're not really loud even if directly under them. I was under many at the Cresent Ridge wind farm in Bradford, IL.

  • Comment removed

  • Exactly, they aint making any sound. However it depends on the size of the turbine, btw who knows how many watts produces , I think that is smaller like 400 kw

  • Shame you don't live 1000 ft. to one than you could comment as an expert, I do! Oil & Coal are far less costly than wind generated power in some cases wind is 10 times the cost of coal generated power. "Coal by Wire"

  • @darrylmueller this guy is a paid agent

  • The cost of coal, oil and wind is not the point. The point is where is all the noise. My grand parents lived a mile a way from a air port, and trust me you could hear the jets taking off and landing. As a matter of fact we got in to the habit of pausing our conversation when a plane was landing. And the picking it up again after the noise died down. I watched the video response. I am not impressed. I have had farts make more noise.

  • its not about the price its about the byproduct that they produce or else we would have never built them

  • they are not making a big noise!!! They are not making any sound.

  • I believe that people need to ease with the complaints on the wind farms. Arguments are pointless if stated "They are too loud, or the birds will be killed" What is more important? Your satisfaction and birds, or the Nation as a whole?

  • Do you know what company these wind turbines belong to and / or where this farm is so we know who does it right?

  • I believe that the technology once was noisy but this video obviously proves that the technology improved which I bet was a mechanical engineering problem not an electrical engineering problem. Probably the rotor axle sliding on the opening of the casing since AC generators have slip rings rather than commutators attached to the rotors.

This video proves that these turbines were noisy at one point. /watch?v=SNxvkrgoPLo

  • Hi SchnickTech

These wind turbines use generators with

permanent magnets. So there is no commutator or and there are no slip rings.

The noise some people complain about is caused by the rotor blades slicing through the air. Watch this video and listen to the noise of a jet fighter, flying with it's engine off. /watch?v=gc-XiO4ojzk

    It is similar to that.

  • They are noisy. At night when the atmosphere is dense is the time you should do your tests. Wind turbines are not a good choice for a residential setting, I live 750 from one.

  • a power transformer puts out more sound

  • the problem is that in a desperate need to keep constructions costs down (whic are spiralling), BIGGER turbibes are need, and the bigger, the noiser. there are sceintific studies that prove the noise levels are high enough with these big rigs to cause psycholigcal effects

  • WOW Someone with an actual real argument on this page...not something written by a 7th grader lol. Now, do you mean psychological or physiological? If the effects are psychological then they aren't directly caused by the turbines. In that case they would be caused by the human mind. Physiological would mean they are directly caused by the turbines. Looking forward to your reply :)

  • Comment removed

  • Your ambient wind is drowning out the sound.

  • blah blah blah!!!!!!! just get used to it

  • oooooohhhh... yer fucking what 20 away !!! U must suck dick

  • what pisses me off the most is all these wind power lovers green fucks telling every one how good they are, coal and gas are much better you can sell coal and gas and make a profit which is good for the economy these folks have no idea about progress we need a much higher population to stimulate economic growth and more oil , coal , gas power stations .adding more co2 to the environment is also a good sign of mans progress it shows that man has power over the earths environment all good.

  • hahahaha, not even gonna bother responding to that

  • Your statement is idiotic on so many levels it's laughable. Do you have any idea how foolish you sound? "Man's progress!". "Power over the environment."

Grow up. Get a life. Shut up.

  • Fuck off you green windmill lover, fuck youre no greener than any other person youre not on the rostrom for saving the planet . Humans always seek power over the environment just look at all the new tools developed to do just that. And this power over the environment is what is called progress or do you live in a tree in a vast forrest? You probrably live in a western country and consume at a unsustainable rate so how foolish do you look now. Google land clearing and see the progress its for you

  • Uh huh. Did you notice that I didn't mention anything about green anything? I simply pointed out that you sound like a complete ass.

Not to mention, I'm actually from the United States (as you probably are judging from your inability to make a convincing argument... probably a 16 year old kid who thinks he knows everything).

Regardless, you still sound like a complete ass. Even more so now.

  • people will bitch about anything

  • Seriously.

  • Yeah, well maybe if they were going at the speed they need to actually make the power you would hear them....going out on a clear non windy day you wont hear shit you shit for brains! Check out the monstrosities they are buidking in the US rught now. THey make all sorts of noise and they are over a mile away. You stupid limey!

  • For someobody who seems to know what they're talking about, you sure don't. Wind turbines don't need to spin very fast to generate power -- e.g., they're far more efficient than the old shitty ones out in California.

Go do some research before spouting out nonesense.

  • Just so you know, they do spin quite fast. They don't appear to because they are so large. The largest in WI have blades that equal the wingspan of a 747. There are turbines in WI that have blades that cover 1.66 acres of space! The blade tips rotate at up to 163mph in 25mph wind. That would be a Repower model.

  • ... noisy? I don't know what people are whining about but I guess there's always somebody who wants to whine about new technology.

I can see if there's a failure in one they make noise or perhaps old models but really, are we going to whine about a little noise which probably doesn't exist?

  • They do make noise that is harmful to your health. It's not about "a little noise"...

"They are a hazard to live by because of the low- frequency noise that they emit, according to new medical studies. Doctors say that the turbines - some of which are taller than Big Ben - can cause headaches and depression among residents living up to a mile away."

  • Until such 'findings' are officially published and confirmed by at least two other independant research groups, they are just the opinions of a few doctors that may or may not have any idea what they're talking about. Until then, I will be of the opinion that most, if not all, of these people are just complaining because they simply don't like the wind turbines.

  • those people sound so foolish. pple live in big cities wit smog, stress, trucks, dogs barking, traffic...lol and they're complaining such stupid things of a little noise or bad landscape? I think they look rather nice and i hear more noise from the shitty camera. You would put and ugly landscape or a little noise over the environment? and these same people would be the first to cry when climate change messes up everything..

  • Heh so true! I live in the country and when my neighbor had a rooster....DANG that thing was so annoying! What do these people have to complain about? Seriously? I never went over to my neighbor and begged him to get rid of the rooster! Hail no! Accept the things that aren't the best...There are people who have it worse! I'd like to tell all those NIMBYs the problems my co-workers have. They live in the inner city...They deal with guns and lives...you're just dealing with wind farms!

  • XD right wing idiots for u. They're making a big deal out of nothing. We have more important things to wrrry about than some non exisiting noise from a windfarm! Who cares if a person thinks they're ugly? There are uglier things on earth? How about old ugly buildings, or bit ugly cities, or ugly people u meet everyday XD LOL

  • Funny you say that lol. I'm right winged on like everything else. Renewable energy is about the only left sided thing I really support. You're right...You see cell towers and stuff all the time (which I also think are pretty) so why the fudge do you care? If you're that upset over it, go live in the slums and wait 3 minutes to say you wanna move back to the wind farm!

  • ohhh..well the right wingers i kno are staunch fossil fuel addicts..wanna destroy environment in alaska to drive their big suv's to the overpriced coffee shop lol. I'm more in the middle, i share views on both sides XD.

  • Well said my friend, arguments against wind farms are arguments against logic, more sound minded people such as yourself need to make a noise.

  • The wind is noiser than the turbine....

  • The reality is, all the "Noisy wind turbine" sounds are only created by the invisible nuclear plant monsters angrily jumping around out there. Wind turbines are quiet and clean.

I mean, seriously folks, it's okay to fire up a jackhammer or boom box outside my home before 7am, but not okay to produce quiet clean abundant energy? Wait..... What???

  • If your head is empty the sound gets amplified....

  • lol I didn't hear anything
