  • Thank you Thank you, you were very clear and informative. Very helpful. :)

  • I came here looking for soldering advice and the dude is on about "soddering" some new type of kinky bumsex i've not heard about?

  • This was very helpful, thank you! I especially needed the instruction on de-soldering.

  • Its the best video for the amateurs. I wanted to learn how to do my first soldering and this video helped me a lot. thanks for uploading it.

  • I wish you could tell this to my whole class, they burnt the circuit boards.

  • flux capacitor?

  • Thank you for making this video. I'm a novice and been researching how to solder correctly after school let out, I found most of the stuff reading the dry articles online but it was nice to have some one give the soldering 101 in a comprehensive and complete video to watch and learn from. I say this after surfing through other videos for days that only get scraps of info here or there.

  • Very good video

  • hey if your not to busy can you make a vid on how to solder a off and on switch to a wire

  • wow. really cool video. Thanks so much

  • Awsome Fuking Sauce

  • Hey id really like to say thanks for the vid im a beginner and starting to get really jump into this -> Jtagging Xboxs :)

  • I haven't soldered anything since high school. This is a good refresher

  • dude, right on... thanks for this!!

  • thanks for making :)

i just started electrical engeneering at collage and soldering is a part of it, i dont find soldering difficult but conecting the tinned wires got me a few times >.<

so yea i'll use this technique :)

  • for that particular case of desoldering a solder sucker is better than braid

  • @vikernespt where would u normally use a braid to remove solider?

  • i thought you arent supposed to get the shield in the connection. you did when you were tinning around 4:08

  • doesn't he sound like a nice guy?

  • Very helpful thx a lot :)

  • I was soldering a circuit board the other day and notice some electrical spark. What is it and is it harmful? How to prevent it?

  • Did it come from you or the iron?

If it came from the iron get a better one.

If it came from you make sure you ground yourself before touching a board. Touching a metal object that is grounded will work fine. Or you can connect yourself to the board with an anti-static bracelet.

It's very possible that you may have ruined the board.

  • @CoverlessTech How can you tell if it has flux inside? Is that what it means by rosin core?

  • do you always have to iorn the wire when connecting it to the board

  • SoLder SoLLLLder, not sodder.

  • Sorry, was making a friendly jest. I'm British, English in fact (as opposed to being Scottish or Welsh) and therefore always enjoy having a poke at Americans when they have their own way of using our language.

  • And when I say 'our' I mean Americans and Brits, not just the Brits.

  • Look up solder and find pronunciations or maybe look it up in a dictionary. It comes from the word soder. Seems "our" way of saying it is much more correct even if it is "your" language.

    I'm Canadian BTW.

  • Canadian? My apologies, my commonwealth cousin. I was kinda hoping to include you in the 'American' terminology (American continent) but you're right, I'm sorry.

Pronunciation on some dictionary site is put your way for the most part. However as to the origin of the word, many of those same dictionary sites would have us believe that it's from the Latin solidare (same origin as solid) but also influenced from the French version souder. So I guess both interpretations are correct.

  • thank you so so much:)5/5

  • Thanks for the informative tutorial.

  • Why do you prefer soldering braid over a solder sucker?

  • Probably just because it's what I first started using and just stuck with it. Suckers are great for getting large amounts of solder up at a time and the braid does a great job getting the left overs.

  • is this enough info to make a custom arcade stick? or at least mod a hori ex2 with sanwa parts?

  • This along with my Wii hori mod video should be enough to mod the EX2(the EX2 is pretty much exactly like the Wii Hori except a different style PCB and button layout).

Custom stick would need other skills like wood working.

  • Very insightful .Thanks!

  • thanks for the video bro man it helped out a lot

i dont have my soldering iron with me right now but when i do i will be watching this video really closely
