This was released as the B-side to tainted love on 45. At least that's where I had it. Just shell out the .99 and buy it from iTunes. Marc Almond has been broke for years.
I meant the sound/style of something from the early 80s is so normal now adays that it's confused for being current and apart of modern music. Interesting thing my wife picked out check out Gloria Esefan's "Turn the beat around", the chorus is identical to the lyrics in this tune at 4:10.
I'm surprised that the fact this video contains footage of the WTC hasn't attracted a slew of little Truther idiots to try to point out something about it.
Well, they probably didn't even know Soft Cell existed. I admit I heard the NIN version of this before the Soft Cell version, but when I noticed it didn't sound very "NIN-ish" I did a tiny bit of research and found hey....it's not a NIN song. Yes, even in 1995 the interwebs could be used to find stuff out, it just wasn't as easy.
I used to hang out in a Bar in Phoenix and drive the bartender crazy playing this. It was on the juke box like 6 times as a B side. He never figured it out. Hard to believe I was that young once.
I love the eyes... he's like an even more lecherous Eddie Cantor!

I've never heard this version. Sounds much more produced but I like the raw, slightly amateurish sound of the original also.
Keychains and snowstorms...

That's because Gloria's song is a cover version of a song even older than this one. How did you not know?

Trent Reznor covered Soft Cell, not viceversa.
I like Soft Cell and his sound but Trent Reznor version is so brutally, so erotic, so sick, so....so....
diegocozzolino 2 years ago 2
Yeah... Soft Cell covered Reznor/NIN's 'Memorabilia' in the same way that they covered Marilyn Manson's 'Tainted Love'
