  • Good review but the game system I can't have words to describe.

I really don't see myself playing any other old system before the NES and Sega megadrive.

  • @PowerL1N3 Hey no i totally understand where you coming from and this kind of game system is pretty much as basic as it gets interms of gameplay.

  • @Chipsturs I mean I've researched all the game consoles that go down in history and most of them from the 1st and 2nd generation, (except maybe atari 2600 and vectrex) Are TERRIBLE!

and I mean not even trying to compare this and the other's to the newer generations but I mean they're are terrible some were even ridiculous.

And there were just soooo many add-ons and newer versions that either way eventually failed and died.

But yea if I were to go back in time to play oldschool snes & sega for me

  • everytime you move your arm !

  • @DariuszSchwella do you mean when i am talking ? lol if it is, for some reason i went a bit over the top and have ever since been trying to keep my arms at bay lol.

  • does the second system still have the built in games

  • Nice video. I didn't know that the Channel F lived on after Fairchild left the market.

  • @venbrugk Hey thanks :)

  • very good review, very imformative. i love watching this, video games have come a long way. ..i certainly be watching more of your vids : )

  • where in God's name did you unearth this thing?!

  • @toptenmaterial lol ebay.

  • you know i actually live just a few miles away from fairchild semiconducter in maine.... i've often wondered if there is a secrert stash of these things in the basement somewhere

  • Yeah I bought a wood grain version( I think its a model 1) at a yard sale for 5 bucks

I've always wondered what that system was now I know

    Thanks for the info :D

  • Congrats man! If its model 1 then its all hardwaired inside. If its all seprate, its the 2nd model. I know for a fact itd the 1st model because it has the wood grain,

  • Well that's great to hear and it's confirmed it actually is a model 1

I've replaced my my 5200 with the Channel F

Although it doesn't work on my tv it's much more pleasing to my eye

Ah wood grain ya gotta love it!

  • Aw, i'm sorry it doesnt work. Tomorrow im gonna hunt for it. Hopefully i'll find it. And yeah i agree the wood grain was a stylus look that game systems sadly put aside. Imagine if the xbox 360 had that.

  • Oh no It works just not on my tv, it works great on my brother's tv

I guess it's just the way my tv's built

Ooh if xbox 360 had wood grain *drools*

  • Ohh alright, i must of miss-read it then lol .Yeah id be great, but the industry's gotta move on.

  • A great review! I have to wonder though, why did most game console designers of the time insist that the controller ports be located in the back of the system?

  • Absolutely excellent review! I was kinda bummed when Gamsters review didn't have sound but I got to hear it here. Thanks for the freakin' awesome videos Chipsters

  • Great Video.... im thinking of getting a Channel F off ebay.............keep it up :)

  • your awsome i subbed

  • The system is more expensive now. EBay has a lot of these games for sale. It may be easy to finish a collection.

  • I once (5+ yrs ago) had a version of this system, but it was made by Luxor, a Swedish company, which I (being Swedish) always thought was really cool. In my memory the sound came from both the system itself as well as from the TV, but I could be wrong, or maybe that was specific to the Luxor version?

The way the controllers worked was definitely my favorite aspect of this system. Actually, everything except the graphics and sound capabilities was really neat. Pity.

  • Hey thanks for the comment, i'm sorry i'm late replying i;ve been working on my latest video for sunday as i'm going away this weekend and haven't had much time to reply!, and thankyou very much on the information regarding the system you had in sweden. thanks again from chips

  • Very good video, and damn.. lol. I was gonna be doing a review of the Channl F this week, but you beat me to it.

Keep up the great work :)

  • lol i just saw you hadn't added any info on the system on website, and i was wondering was that to be reviewed soon, whoops.

  • Hehe... it's cool, and in fact, probably a good thing. It means I'll dig a little deeper, to find some slightly more esoteric info on the Channel F, just so as not to duplicate what you and Gamester81 have already said.

    I like a challenge.

  • What a very cool system!

    lol at Hangman:-D

  • yeah i'm not very good at hangman lol

  • This is a good 2 player system, I like how the carts take up the entirety of the outerboxes themselves. Great video!

  • yes they certainly made the best use of storage, thanks for the grear comment :)

  • Love how you always have the boxes with all the instructions and inserts. Really awesome!

  • thanks again man, another item from grandstand next week also boxed lol

  • nice review, hey can you make a video with that controller plugged in an 2600 and play ?

  • thankyou very much, i will try and certainly do that for you, to be honest i don't know if those controllers work with an atari? do you ?, i'll try and post one as soon as possible may take a week or so. infact you've given me an idea. thanks

  • no prob, thats why i asked you to put that controller in the atari cuz it seemed to me it has the same connection probaly it would work too :) if you plug in a sega genesis controller and it will work XD too

  • i will i'll get it on the case right away :)

  • Another awesome video review Chips! Never seen this one before, and yeah.. I like the funky cart design and the joystick system! Really innovative for that time.... A great retro gaming knowledge for me!!

  • Thanks once again Phat, another grandstand item coming up next week as well. :)

  • Great overview man, that looks like a system I need to pick up soon! Thanks for all the info!

  • your welcome and thankyou very much, hope you can find one!. :)

  • very cool dude much respect

  • thankyou very much :) thanks for the support !

  • nice system you have, all boxed and everything. Watching it I thought of gamester81, I remember seeing thoses controllers and right enough at the end you mention him.

you really have a good varied collection, very nice.

  • thankyou very much man, another system from grandstand coming up next week. :)

  • I never heard of it before, quite surprised it goes for under £40!

  • yeah me too i saw one sell on ebay for less than £30 the other day

  • Video game crash of 1977? How many damn video game crashes were there so far in history? And will those controllers work on the Atari 2600 or any other consoles that take the DB9 style plugged controllers?

    Awesome video.

  • well i know of 2 for sure, 77 and 83/84 i think there was one in the 90's ? (someone might want to help out with more info) and those controllers might just work with an atari, but again someone might want to clear that up to. thanks the comment! :)

  • LOL.

  • This system looks pretty cool. I love the look of old cartridge systems. The controllers look cool too. Great vid mate.

  • Cheers man, yeah the system is so 70's, epecially that cartridge, awesome color! bring them back lol

  • You know i was just thinking today how cool would it be to launch a new cartridge based console, that released home brew games and maybe ports of old school games, i reckon it could take off. If only i had the time and the inclination, lol!

  • Nice info on the system, i like these kind of vids

  • thankyou very much glad you enjoyed it :)
