This song brings back memories of a different kind of horror story. In the fall of 1989 when this song was getting air play, I was reading the book The Last Canadian by William Heimler. It's about the life of a guy who is a one in a million survivor of a major pandemic, presumed to have been a biological weapon. A great story, and great song!
