  • Best version of this song that I've heard. I'm saving up to get pipes. I was wondering how many drones you have...is it the same as the half set sold by Daye? and how difficult was it to make your own drones?

  • @Ladder209 . Thanks, I appreciate it. I have the 3 drones: tenor, bari, and bass. Drones took a bit of planning. You can find the plans on Daye's website with some digging. Good luck.

  • NICE!

  • Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

  • Great job...Ta beag Gailge, ach, is maith lum do ceol...

  • Do u also use the budget drones made by Mr. Daye?

I am very interested in buying a daye-half set!

  • @Zetsunai

My drones are homemade. I built them based on Daye's design. I'd recommend Daye's products. Very affordable with a high quality sound.

  • Hi Fabfox,

Dinna matter that you're "no where near a master"....ure good. I can't play the Uilleann pipes and I know it's very difficult to learn.

So keep up with the practice!

  • WELL PLAYED IM IRISH BUT LOVE THE PIPES

  • Beautiful!

  • any chance any knows the words in english. My mother 84 speaks of nights singing this song but all we know is "my dark rosaleen do not cry do not weep"

  • tune your drones please!!!!!!

  • Well Done!! Sound's very good

  • love it mannnnn

  • Hey my piper friend, well done. This air is my favourite. Did you inspire your playing on Mick O Brien´s Ancient Voice of Ireland? If you did you might check my version of the Sally Gardens, inspired by the same album. Keep piping!

  • Fucking amazing, I want to shake your hand...

  • Nice one, well done

  • hey! great playing! i am looking into a daye penny chanter set. would you recommend them?

  • Daye offers a great sounding and durable chanter at a very reasonable price.

    Good Luck

  • thanks for the correction!

  • Roisin Dubh means 'Dark Rosaleen' not 'black rose'. Just sayin :) Iarracht maith ar aon nos

  • However, "Black Rose" is a popular name of the tune.

  • Indeede it might be. However, Roisin doesn;t mean Rose in any translation.

  • Sure it does! Rós means "rose" and róisín is the diminutive form meaning "little rose".

  • Amazing dude. I love the Uilleann Pipes.

  • UP's aren't anywhere as loud as the the hihgland pipes. you shouldn't bother your neighbors too badly. They do take years to master (I'm nowhere near a "master"). make sure you get a quality set from a reputable maker.

  • That tune always moves me. I'm thinking about buying a set of pipes. How long would it take to learn up Roisin Dubh? How loud are they? Don't want to drive the neighbours mad, though I do play accoustic guitar... many thanks, Rory.

  • "The Little Black Rose"

  • yeah, it's a Daye pennychanter. drones are homemade.

  • did you design drone plans yourself? i made up some for a 3 drone mainstock from 3" PVC pipe, and sched. 40 pipe for the drones with model tubing. curious to know if you made your own drone reeds too. as soon as I get my chanter I'll start puttin it all together. thanks...

  • is this on one of David Daye's sets?
