@markycincy3 Buddy Holly had a massive influence on John Lennon and the Beatles, one of many reasons they were so good. When I say "take the initiative" I'm saying to aspiring musicians, "study the greats".
a legend and inspired the Beatles a truly great Artist , had he have live who knows what the music industry would have advanced to, a creative genius.
@bluerok8 The beatles named themselves after the crikets and the crikets got there name from the fact that the garage that they did there first recordings had crikets in it and they were in the records and they left it in some of the originals
Rock In Peace Buddy, my friends the Damper Downs cover this song, tonight they are playing a show and Oh Boy i know they are going to rock so hard that Buddy will hear it. So happy i have good friends that know real music.
A picture of John Mueller on a real Holly song... the internet is becoming a sea of deception and misinformation. The day a tribute artist becomes the new picture of a rock icon is the day we lose all respect for fact over fiction.
My dear, what has our modern day "music" come to?! What happened to music like this?! There should be more singers/musicians like Buddy Holly, Frank Sinatra, and Perry Como 'cause if there were, we'd be much better off!!!
I actually saw Buddy Holly and The Crickets LIVE at the Davis Theatre, Croydon, UK whilst on their one and only tour of the UK. Fantastic! Unbelievable! Brilliant!.
Iam just a little younger than Buddy would have been if he lived... I was born in Lubbock and was lucky.... I got to run with Buddy and Waylon for a while.... in those days they were just regular guys to me.... I wish I would have had a camera and used it back then....
@venkatguitar Okay all I'm saying is that when rock n' roll came out, the adults hated it and said their era's music was "proper". You're doing the same thing that adults then did but with this era's music. But I do agree modern pop/rap sucks :D
What a smug and nasty comment. You do not have the right determine what is music and what isn't. You're not important and special cause you like something from the 50s, so don't think you are.
@venkatguitar Oh come on, give us 21st century teenage whores a break! Some of us aren't completely brainwashed by the mindless garbage being crammed down our throats. Just be grateful that you grew up in an era filled with this century's most profoundly kick ass music.
@Salvus967 I'm 22, and 80% of today's top 40 can't even compete with the 70s and earlier. Beiber is a twat. Perry makes my ears bleed. Adele is absolute heaven. (sorry, I got sidetracked)... Pitbull and all those other gangsta dumb asses need to do the world a favour and cease existence. I really could go on...
Great song ...except that that picture is NOT Buddy Holly...the pic is of John Mueller, a Buddy Holly tribute artist - a very good one - check him out
John Wayne was despised, mainly because he stayed safely at home making shit films depicting him as a war hero instead of putting himself out there to serve like the other wannabe actors who didn't make it to fame because they were at war... unlike truly great actors like Jimmy Stewart... what an actor, what a man, what a record of service... but some of you don't want to hear that...
@ClaresStuff You're right. And some, like Glenn Miller and the Andrews Sisters, though they didn't fight, spent most of their time entertaining troops for morale. And lets not forget Bob Hope- and so many others who gave selflessly. Even Wayne, making patriotic pictures, very popular, could be said to have been helping the war effort.
i'm sure there were lots of people home making tons of money while others were dying on the beaches. I don't include workers making tanks, planes, etc
there is absolutely nothing in my sidebar. it's as if youtube's saying "well you don't really need to watch anything else after this". i already knew that but thanks youtube.
I thank my grandad for introducing me to Buddy Holly - He's now one of my favourite singers! He had such a talent and his voice is so wonderful it makes me go weak at the knees! This ain't a gay song, when he says "oh boy" he's talking about when he gets excited about getting the girl of his dreams. In our world we have lots and lots and lots of women.
This was a lovely bit of reminiscing back to when singers actually had some musical talent. Nothing computer-assisted about this, that's for sure! Thanks!
its so funny how like all the songs in that time only went for like 2 mins and songs now go for like 3... id rather listen to a great song for 2 mins then listen to a song for 3 mins and end up wanting to kill myself or the artist

Sort of like now.
But you're on the right track- make an effort in school, think before you do anything stupid, be compassionate,

@majorporpoise Nope. John Wayne- whose real name was Marion- was despised by the Marines he portrayed. What fucked it all up was, among many other things, racist assholes like you.
Better start leaning Mandarin pal- your empire is in tailspin, bankrupt financially and morally, with no friends, and creating enemies faster than you can whack 'em.
Too bad- you all deserved better- but your politcians are corrupt liers in the bag of the corporations and big military.

Enjoy.
