    A friend up here in Utah was trying to explain to me how this is "West Coast Swing". I almost know why he'd say that but not really. How would you respond?

  • Not West Coast Swing. West Coast is predominately done in slots with whips. This dance is called Smooth Lindy which was Dean Collins version of Savoy Lindy. There is a hint of slot in it, Dean is credited with creating the slot, but as you can easily see the slot is only a small part of the dance with the rest of the dance being very circular and having the classic Savoy moves that allow for you to move in different directions without the West Coast pass through slot.
