Monarchos ran the second fastest Derby time ever and point given loss but whos better? Point Given ofcourse but in one race anything could happen.

I'd forgotten about this video, you know it's really wonderfully done, showing each attempt after '78 and what happened. And it ends so poignantly, we were headed for a terrible letdown, still painful. Saw picture last week of Barbaro being walked by Doc R. and that hoof is crooked, it hurt to see it. But he's loved, and alive, but God it hurts.

ok. i like barbaro and bernardini. they are both very talented. however, barbaro was undefeated. bernardini lost 2 of his races. barbaro won all 6 of his races. bernardini won 6 but lost 2. its obvious that the match up would have been great, but the barbaro probably would have won. he won the derby by the biggest margin in 60 years. he's great. bernardini is just good. but, they are both retired now.

hrm... nice video but I think you should have included the horses that lost the KD but went on to win the preakness and belmont. They deserve a lot of attention as well.
The thing is, this video is about those that were in what may have been Barbaro's position, those who had the chance to win the Triple Crown. Though the ones who win preakness & belmont certianly deserve attention, they were never in contention to actually win the triple crown, which is, as far as I am concerned, a huge draw for so many viewers. It makes it that much more intense.
cue 12 it wasnt the winning jockys fault i hate when people blame it on the . and also if people were thinking about it barbaro didnt hert his leg breaking out of the starters gate.
After watching Go For Wand break down in the 1990 Breeder's Cup, I swore off watching racing for years. But I got caught up in the Smarty Jones frenzy two years ago and was sucked back in. I'm like a junkie- I LOVE to watch them run. It breaks your heart when something tragic happens.
I love the sport and will never give it up but we ALL need to remeber what it's REALLY about. For example look at what the winning jockey said after the race when the reporter asked if he was happy that Barbaro got injured and he had the nerve to say he was thrilled!!! I couldn't believe this I do competitive riding and if one of my competators or their horse gets injured on a jump, I dismount and go help and cry with them for their horse!!!
This is soo sad I wanted him to win every year I've been like come on we have to break it and somebody has to win the Triple Crown now its been 29 years!!! I feel so sry for Barbaro it was HIS race and he could have donw it I KNOW it! then rrrr why did they croud him if they didn't he wouldn't have slipped!!! Every year, something has to happen. I feel bad for Barbaro, he seemed to be enjoying himself so much. Then something like this has to happen. I hope he makes it. He is one great horse. I was sure he was going to finally win the Triple Crown. It's very unfortunate.
It it very sad that he broke down, nice, big, long strided colt, would have romped at Belmont. Will never race again, may not survive the night with two breaks in one leg (one above and one below ankle)Dammitt, so sick of this!!

ITS MY OPINON!! first off...bernardini beat bluegrasscat (which yes i know barbaro beat to but bernardini beat him by a lot more) and he beat wanderin boy...he beat barbaro too..in some sense..he beat sweatnorthernsaint ...hemingways key..BROTHER DEREK...greeleys legacy...diabolical..ministers bid...sunriver..oh so awsome..dylan thomas...

Your oppinion, if he was so unbetable then why are they retiring him at three, he is good, maybe great, but so far who has he beaten? His real test will be the BCC then that will prove if he the great horse that many think he is, you just cant say that BErni would have beaten Barabro, its like me saying that Shergar could have beaten Ribot, there is no evidence to prove he could

and look at the facts..barbaro was lightly raced...2 weeks is SHORT rest especially compared to having 5 weeks off before the derby...then theres the fact that bernardini was fresh before the preakness...more than a month off..and then theres the whole bernardini being a much faster horse factor...so now that i realize it..odds were against barbaro..but i do like barbaro..but bernardini is UNBEATABLE

because barbaro has actually had to try to win his races...its been completely easy for bernardini...bernardini is the better horse and he would have won the kentucky derby if he had races...NO DOUBT about it in my mind..and i said I THINK...this is my opionion you dont HAVE 2 agree

hrm... nice video but I think you should have included the horses that lost the KD but went on to win the preakness and belmont. They deserve a lot of attention as well.

The thing is, this video is about those that were in what may have been Barbaro's position, those who had the chance to win the Triple Crown. Though the ones who win preakness & belmont certianly deserve attention, they were never in contention to actually win the triple crown, which is, as far as I am concerned, a huge draw for so many viewers. It makes it that much more intense.

After watching Go For Wand break down in the 1990 Breeder's Cup, I swore off watching racing for years. But I got caught up in the Smarty Jones frenzy two years ago and was sucked back in. I'm like a junkie- I LOVE to watch them run. It breaks your heart when something tragic happens.

I love the sport and will never give it up but we ALL need to remeber what it's REALLY about. For example look at what the winning jockey said after the race when the reporter asked if he was happy that Barbaro got injured and he had the nerve to say he was thrilled!!! I couldn't believe this I do competitive riding and if one of my competators or their horse gets injured on a jump, I dismount and go help and cry with them for their horse!!!

This is soo sad I wanted him to win every year I've been like come on we have to break it and somebody has to win the Triple Crown now its been 29 years!!! I feel so sry for Barbaro it was HIS race and he could have donw it I KNOW it! then rrrr why did they croud him if they didn't he wouldn't have slipped!!! In my opinion I blame the winning jockey, I've watched horse racing all my life and it's gone from the most sufficticated and spotrsmen-ship sport to full of scandles!! see next comment

Every year, something has to happen. I feel bad for Barbaro, he seemed to be enjoying himself so much. Then something like this has to happen. I hope he makes it. He is one great horse. I was sure he was going to finally win the Triple Crown. It's very unfortunate.

It it very sad that he broke down, nice, big, long strided colt, would have romped at Belmont. Will never race again, may not survive the night with two breaks in one leg (one above and one below ankle)Dammitt, so sick of this!!

that's one of the geekiest vids i've seen! i love it, bravo. :)
it also made me think of how much i wanted War Emblem to win. and how i thought Smarty Jones was going to take it because of his big Preakness win. anyhow Barbaro had an impressive win.
