Don't get us wrong...we thought the system worked great. Yes we did manage to his the tarp on the first run, but only barely. It was on a gravel road, with a waving tarp, and the car stopped short of the target on every other run, possibly because we ran at it faster. CitySafe is terrific technology and we hope to see it as standard equipment on Volvo (and other cars).
The system is looking for reflective surfaces, hard objects like metal and plastic. The system can not detect carpets, FEMA roofs, or other soft body objects.

Why did you drop the tarp?
It seems like this is more about minimizing damage than preventing damage.
