Exactly how it was recorded in 1969 and wasnt touched by todays computers as some songs are, this song is just amazing, one that I hunted for year after year till finding it on an overseas release., now if they would just release the rest of the unreleased sessions from 1969 like The Defector and more.......God the song is just amazing....and speaks perfectly of Vietnam and the era.,
The man long gone..but..the songs and THAT voice live on..hypnotic trances again and again...had heard this only once before..now I have a copy...brilliant..another part of my Big O collection
@grizzly2000 yes it is. in my opinion the best song he made. how the instrumentals ask and answer, the lyrics and Roy's voice. incredible! Thanks for the comment on this song.
Jeez will someone PA-LEEEEEZE upload other songs from the CD (either titled "Living Legend" or "Run for the sun"). Especially want to hear "Where does all the money go" and "You were there".
anyone out there know if the song was intended for the 1969 "Many moods of R.O." LP that came out on MGM ? It certainly sounds like it has the same structure and sound of the other 12 tracks that appeared on "Many Moods". Wonder why Roy chose to leave it off the record?
You're absolutely right Chris. I grew up with Roy's music and have a number of his lp's(many!). I also play and sing his songs with my guitar (much more so in my younger days), and this is the first time I hear this song.
