  • abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz - ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ - 0123456789 - Friday, February 10, 2012 (Common Era), 7:03 PM (Earth-Eastern Standard Time)

  • I'm 17. I've discovered a new favourite band today. This song reminds me of a time I don't really remember, that I didn't even live, a place I've never been... But I wish I had.

  • TIMELESS

  • cannot beat the classics

  • Wow it brings back lots of memories......

  • I was so in love with a girl during these times, she said she loved me too. She now lives in CA. I live in the UK. She was the BEST.

  • i love late 60's then 70's and 80's and some 90's music

  • i can SO identify with the lines You know i've always been a dreamer(gets me into trouble) but the dreams i've seen lately.......

  • @DeathAssortment well said!!! Except Im still jamming em all, plus I feel you forgot to mention like REO Speedwagon, Starship, Styx, etc at the age of 29.

  • music these days just has no soul.

  • You guys have no idea how happy it makes me to listen to this sound and not having to read any stupid comments ranting about every little thing and insincere statements on the song.

    Thank you.

  • Most of us in my age group grew up with the real 'Eagles'. It was part of and still is, of our lives. Like DeathAssortment says when they list many bands and still don't even come close to naming them all. Music had stories that we all felt and related to back then. I wish we hadn't lost that aspect of music for so many years.

3 Dog Night, Jefferson Airplane, Queen, Gerry Rafferty, Fleetwood Mac, Cream, The Band, an so, so many more.... I miss them all. Weekly Concerts for $7.00@the stage!!

  • @SpeakTruer So true. Saw Santana and Frampton in Phoenix 1976 for $8.50. Missed the late 60's and early age of 70's vinyl but there was an 8-track in my future. Oh, How did we not know Freddy Mercury was gay, or even Bowie or Elton? We should have known with Daniel's song. Search for Linda Ronstadt's early stuff with the Stone Ponies then how she screwed her way to the top as the biggest female act for more than a decade. Just sayin...

  • @azslopoke Hahaha!! You're funny. To answer some of your question re: Freddie, David & Elton, nobody really cared back then. People were 'cooool' back then & what ever you did that didn't hurt others... well, that was just fine! Linda did what she did for whatever, she didn't need to. She had the talent. I just miss concerts at the stage every weekend for 'nothin' really. I only sat in a regular seat at 1 concert, the rest at stage center & on it a bit twice! Haha. Good times!

  • I learned how to do the waltz to this song in PE three days ago. So this song is kind of special to me...

  • @johnnybnfly2080 Good for your teacher

  • This is to my papa Mr. John Gotti your daughter Victoria from Vancouver loves you!

  • best song to do a kill myself drinking game too

  • meant lake home

  • I cried at the eagles concert at TD garden in Boston during the song. Gosh, I remember growing up as a kid in the 70's and our summers on at the lack home/ I was allowed to take the sea ray motor bat out alone, and my parents had this on 8 track, then cassette and as mature a song this was, I got it totally as a kid. The melody is stunning the way it rises and falls. I also loved already gone and one of the reasons I took up guitar along with many other tunes.

  • why watch a video if you dont like it, whats the reasoning for those 10 people to watch this

  • 9 people never took it to the limit.

  • GERINA DOVE is an OLD troll ~

  • This song hits a sweet spot in your mind, heart and soul. The Eagles are the sound of tranquility

  • 9 people need to be taken to the limit!

  • husbands have no clue....

  • I know, she could at least give me a sympathy piece.....

  • This is my Friday night, drunk and alone at the bar song.....the waitress sings the chourus when she walks past me......

  • @csumjr that is the saddest thing I've ever heard.

  • @csumjr question, was she hot.

  • sing it RANDY

  • Thumbs up to support my self esteem!

  • OH, to take it to the LIMIT, one more time!!!

  • The Eagles/ Boston/ Creedence Clearwater Revival/ The Doobie Brothers > Meditation. Those bands just remind me of being SAFE, of being either in the car, going somewhere, looking forward to something...or at home with something fun taking place, like a barbecue. Anytime I heard them as a child/ teenager, I knew I was well beyond the reach of all life's bullshit, and, as long as they kept playing, everything would be all right. So now, at 34, I listen to them to recapture that feeling.

  • @DeathAssortment You summed it up!

  • This was my grandpas favorite song... When he was laying in the hospital bed, overcome by cancer... We played this song for him and he started to tap his foot. Him and my grandma danced to this song. Hes listening to this song right now in Heaven (:

R.I.P. Grandpa, You were the best <3

  • Played this song and my step dad, mom and sister told me to turn it up. :)

  • Songs like these make me happy. My wife loves the Eagles, and we're 19. this makes me think of her.

  • @LetsRaceBitch married at 19 huh? What have you done to yourself.

haha jk im glad you found love like that at such a young age, and im glad you two love the Eagles. Peace.

  • My horoscope for the day:

A new limit makes itself known, which is kind of a drag, but still -- things could be worse! You are well known as someone who can work around limitations when you must, so go for it!

First thing I thought of? This Song.

  • willibaldvongluck:: I hear ya pal...Me too...Wish I could go back and live the easy going life of back then .....So easy...Just friends and working some..A nice party now and then.....Little stress...Just having fun with friends....

  • I am trying to find that door at this moment in time such a drag

  • I'm one of the privileged kids of today whose childhood was mostly made of Queen, Boston, Chicago, and of course, The Eagles.

  • 36 yrs old, and was always looked at as weird cause I tried to share it with my peers, they didn't get it, but their parents did!!!

  • I was stationed overseas in 1975 when this album came out. i played this album on my stereo system nearly every damn day. 36 years later I stiil love this song.

  • This song has so much feeling. Almost brings tears to the eyes.

  • Glorious 70s...

  • This is just good sounding, pure music.

  • Almost hate to tell willibaldvongluck, but this song came out in the summer of 1975. I remember cause it was the year I came to the states from 2 years overseas. Met my first real love, had the best summer ever that year.

  • @oldHDbiker does it even matter? It was a nice comment.

  • This song changed my outlook on life.i started skydiving, rock and ice climbing, hiking ,backpacking. mountain climbing kayaking, and bungee jumping because of the message in this song. I realized how much of my life i had wasted. I am 68 this coming week and i still love this song.

  • This most def has Philly Soul feel to it something like a Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes vibe to it

  • If you don't like it- don't watch it. Is that hard? Lol

  • Huberty anyone?

  • this is a very good songs talks about life also

  • The picture reminds me of the album from the rolling stones: GOATS HEAD SOUP

  • 5 dislikes, really?

  • idk y but our teacher has us waltz to this and i like it

  • I love this song. 'Nuff said.

  • transports me back to the good old days. just love this band!

  • A lonely Florida beach at 7am.. Sitting on a beach towel, only the gentle sounds of a few waves breaking the monotany. My ipod playing the Eagles. Transported 34 years ago in my mind to the same beach, this time crowded with a bunch of us, juniors and seniors. Tricia and I walking hand in hand away from them all. Sitting on the sand, looking each other in the eyes and hoping to take it to the Limit of love. Didn't happen and so now all I can do is sit on the beach and remember.

  • I agree with you. I'm Native American and I love this type of music. That's why I hang around people that listen to this type of music and not Rap.

  • Iam black and i have always loved the eagles. My friends look at me as if i murdered somebody. They just don't know good music.

  • to me this is "cry in your beer" song

  • Pure magic, I was a hormonal teenager, first love. m/cycle, car, a real wild year - the long hot summer of '76. Can I just go back and stay there for the rest of my life.....please?

  • @willibaldvongluck Take me with you! This was my brothers favorite song. he was 29 that summer when he died. This was his song mine too. I was also a wild teenager. 14....

  • i don't even know how i know this song..

  • if it all fell to pieces tomorrow, would you still be mine...........

  • My favorite group ever.........takes me back to high school!!! : D

  • Best beer-drinking song ever.

I've played this song on jukeboxes from one end of the country to another for years.

"And when you're looking for your freedom, nobody seems to care.(nobody seems to care)

And you can't find the door

    (can't find it anywhere)

When there's nothing to believe in

Still you're coming back, you're running back

    You're coming back for more"

    Pure nihilism.

  • Classic R Miesner. Thanks for sharing.

    Kindest,

    Roby

  • Keep the Faith!!

  • Sorry, folks: absolutely Either this keyboard or my non-typing skills land up in many typing errors!

  • This is absolitely beautiful music that the Eagles made so much of during their long careers, dating to even this present day! These were some of the best years in rock music, though there are still some bands that carry on the torch! Still, it's great to still hear music by the Eagles! Their music is timeless, and if the earth is here in 100 years, they'll still be playing the Eagles great music!!!

  • great tune...but what's with the 'Tex-Arcana' album cover artwork...it's very thought provoking...

  • Always liked the Eagles, but the book about them was a true eye-opener! It's a wonder they got any music accomplished past their egos, skirt-chasing and drug/alcohol use, not to mention the in-band strife and fighting. It's a shame that they couldn't be more grateful for their success when so many others are just as talented and never make it. Their songs are classic, but unfortunately, so is their "soap opera". Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite songs - definitely in my Top 5...

  • One more time...

  • In 1980, when I was realizing that my plans to eventually marry Jodi Jean Sanders never had a future - I made several scenarios of meeting other potential soul mates with one being Angela Margaret Cisneros. Angela and I (married from 13 December 1997 until 12 September 2000), listened to the songs by the Eagles. Why write this? I hope people will read to reflect on their dreams and goals to learn from my preventable cavalier reckless decisions and deeds I am accountable for since 1970 !!!

  • would nascar come to mind and the memories of a couples skate at your local skating rink back in day before internet lol!

  • I used to like the Eagles. One day I decided I couldn't stand Glen Frey or Don Henley...now I only really like Take It To The Limit. But I like it A LOT.

  • @Nicolita1972 I guess this is no surprise as the lead singer on this one is Randy Meisner. I also wonder if Meisner had more to do with the writing than Frey or Henley. It doesn't sound like a Frey song.

  • @ShelterDogs He basically wrote the whole thing they just more or less helped him finish it up and it was more Don than Glenn.

  • @nyrichiek I see. He wrote a great great song, then. I wonder if The Eagles missed out on any future hits becaues Leadon's departure. Maybe it didn't make any difference. Maybe it did. Hard to understand why he'd leave what was the world's most well known modern rock band because he didn't like the direction the band was going in. Successful bands are ones that change direction and try new things. Otherwise you stay stale. Hard to repeat success. That goes for movies, too. Sequels rarely work.

  • this has always been my favorite song. i love the lyrics, and i love how he can sing

  • i agree today is all computers, but we have this great music that will never die..

  • Real music. Made with an effort. No lazy computer fx or auto tune need here.

  • definitely one of rock n roll's heavy hitters of the 70's. i was flipping hamburgers then and this song was on our jukebox. it was drilled into my brain and i was loving it. our boss was an older cowboy-type who loved country and western as well as the eagles. there was a volume control behind the counter and the place was usually bumpin when an eagles song was played. great times.

  • The ending is beyond amazing. talk about a moving song.

  • @TheAlysheba By mid-70's Frey and Henley were in control and everything had to go through them. The best song on the "Hotel California" LP is Meisner's Try and Love Again. But it could not even make it as a "B" side to any of the 3 singles that were issued from this LP. What an injustice! From what I have read, Meisner was the only one who stood up to them and punched Frey before quitting the band. Justice Served.

  • Very good track indeed :) I would be happy if someone could upload 3 other tracks from this album, wich is nowhere to be found: "Hollywood Waltz", "Visions" and "I Wish You Peace".

  • @OldGold79 Especially Visions but i think Frey would see it and get it pulled.

  • The Eagles were at their best when this great song came out. Too bad it could not last. After the departure of Leadon, Meisner, and Felder from the group, Frey and Henley should have re-named the group to The Egos.

  • @TheMidniteFlyer I agree, it's sad how they're so stingy with their vids and concert tickets are outrageous.. I suspect they want more $ than God...

  • @TheAlysheba

i got no problem with henley or frey wanting to be rich, but you do not step on your goddamned bandmates to get it! that's it!!

  • @TheAlysheba

for what it's worth, the true, always overlooked, reason the beatles really split was because the others found out mccartney went behind backs to score some more shares in northern songs. look it up, cuz it's all true. this is what finally pushed john to the point of no return w/paul.

  • I LOVE the Eagles! And this is my favorite song by them, although they have a lot of great ones!

  • Randy Meisner....friggin' awesome voice and great tune!

  • i have to say i dont like this song...I F@#$ING LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!! if these so cald singers today could put out just one like this letalone an antire carrer like the eagles did it would be a flippin miricle!!!!!!

  • If you like the Eagles, check out the YouTube video "The Eagles Lost Album"...hope you like it!
