These are incredibly simple robots. The more complex walking robots do alot more. The main principle is to create something that will survive in the real world. I would also like to know what you think any organisms purpose is? All anything does is try to survive and spawn, sounds kind of pointless if you ask me :P

They are ecologically friendly in the sense that they obtain the power they need to run via solar cells. Just because something serves no purpose, does'nt mean that it is'nt environmentally friendly! Like he said, the motors come from pagers, perhaps they reclaim most of the componants!?

if something serves no usefull purpose or has no function and the cost of producing it is impact upon the environment, then i would say that that is not an ecologically friendly product. if however he turned the used componants into something wich had a usefull aplication i would say it was good.
