i have a question when are you souposed to shower the i am getting a jenday conure and i was just wondering when r u sopposed to give them a shower once a week onces a month 2 a month when ?
@puppet97 Definitely varies by species and time of year. When it's hot, more often, when it's cold then less. Species originating in wet climates should bath/shower more frequently. The bird will kind of let you know itself if you leave it a bowl of water and it starts bathing in it, then you know it wants it. On the other hand, some parrots come from drier climates and don't like it done more than once a week or two.
@gardenwatcher No way. Not only is there risk of burning the bird, but it also dries their skin too much. Also a high risk of PTFE/Teflon poisoning. My favorite way of drying them is outside. In the summer I take them to the park and shower them in the water fountain or sprinkler. Then they dry in the sun in no time. They love it and it's totally natural. At home, I pick the warmer days or times and just let them air dry.
No they both like the towel but Kili doesn't really like Kathleen so she tried to fly away but she got Kili on the 2nd try. They like the towel cause it dries them off and keeps them warm. It's good practice in case they ever need to be "toweled" on purpose.
my senegal doesnt like water..like, at all..she drinks it, but she wont bath, and when i try to mist her, or get her to take a bath, she runs away and freaks out, what can i do to get her to bath? i know its unhealthy for them not too..she has dander and it worries me =/

Have you tried blow drying your birds on low speed? My cockatiel likes it, because the low heat fluffs its feathers.
