  • @caty476 Hey yeah I'll take two Mau but they also have to be garbage fed and poisoned, ship them in a box no bigger than 10" by 10" disassemble them if you must kthxbi

  • @caty476

How would i get a Mau??

And how are they treated badly?

werent Mau's once worshiped in relation to a goddess for over there?

and just how can any one mistreat an animal?!!! poor things!

  • @akchi147 maus are rare and hard to get and can range from 800-2500 us dollars depending on color. i have two silver females which are at the very top of the price range

  • are Mau's social cats? Do they like to get peted by their masters or are they more shy?

  • @LuffyTubby Hiya! Yes, Maus are really close to their human family; especially if it's a small family, as they will make one or two of them their "favourites." They like being stroked, cuddled, and played with. Maus are very shy amongst strangers, though, so when people visit their character completely changes, unless you have a busy home where they'll get used to strangers.

  • @LuffyTubby Maus are really social with their close family. They'll climb up on you, and sleep on you. At least, mine does. They love being shown affection. But they get really shy around strangers. They freak if you bring them to the vet, because of all the people there. But they're an amazing breed of cats!

  • Beautiful creature! U are lucky to have her :)

  • Aw she sounds just like our kitty!

  • WOW 1:16 that had me laughing so hard, cause I didn't expect that. I remember my cats having that toy but they didn't bother with it much. they like laser chasing :)

  • @OfficialRobbieMason Yeah, Qetesh chases the laser pointer, too.

  • Haha awesome, love the part with the blowing toy.

  • Well if that isnt the cutest dark eyes, i dont know wat is. LOVE EGYPT BABY!

  • i have an egyptian mau. its a girl. her coat is gray.

  • No one ever 'owns' an Egyptian Mau. They own you!

I'm beginning to think they really do have 'magical powers' like shown in 'Cat Woman'

When I first got my Mau; I had no idea what he was; just another cat from my female cat's litter, but in appearance & behaviour; every inch a Mau - a genetical throw-back.

I made 2 attempt to give him away. In both cases, he was back at my place in under 24 hours. Once you're theirs; you stay theirs.

  • (continued) In the 2nd attempt to give the Mau away, his 'new' owner lived at least 7 miles from my house. I took him there at night in a cage in the back of my van where he had no idea where he was going. As soon as we got to his 'new' owner's place and he was out of the cage, he immediately escaped and ran into the night & I thought,

"That's it! I'll never see him again."

In under 24 hours & having to cross many busy streets; he was back at my place!

  • WOW.

I'm not doubting the story, but if it is true, you have a very intelligent cat on your hands. To travel 7 miles and to be able to find its way back, first time is almost unbelievable.

  • I know. I couldn't believe it myself and how he found his way home through a maze of streets and crossed a busy Highway without getting run over; again, I'm baffled The first time I tried to give him away, it was to people who lived in a suburb 22 km away. He behaved very anti-social. Hid under the couch, wouldn't touch his food & wouldn't allow himself to be touched by his new 'owners'. They phone back after 24 hrs. & said, "You'd better take him back. I did & he returned to normal immediately.

  • With Egyptian Maus, they require a long to adapt to their new surroundings. I would always allow 1 week, before making a decision. My Egyptian Mau is terribly dominant and intelligent. He is currently at my sister's house. It too him 6 days to gain enough confidence to walk around the house. My Bengal on the hand, took less than 24 hours to make himself at home.

If you want to re-home your Mau, the new owners need to be patient and good with animals.

  • Oh no, I couldn't re-home him now! He stays with me. Especially after seeing the Halle Berry, 'Catwoman:' film. He's the only cat I've ever owned who greets me at the driveway like a dog when I get home from work and except him, I've never owned a cat before who actually comes to you when he's called even if there's no food involved.

  • @BastardfromtheBush

Wow, those are some amazing stories. Can't believe he'd be able to find his way back like that.

I've read about them in wikipedia and they seem like awesome and very loyal pets. It also explained why it ran away and came back to you and greets you when you come home =)

  • @BastardfromtheBush very true i have two :D

  • aww what a beautiful cat!

i love those meows! too cute

  • J'adore ses miaou!

    I love his meows!

  • Thank you! She meows like that all day, so she likes to be noisy! :-D

  • beautiful i want two cats this is my fav so far

  • i hv noticef one thing in my cat she is very reserve kinda cat... doesnt show much sign of affection to me.. although i hv adopted it when she was only of 2 weeks... n i luv her alot... but she never come near me unless she is hungry :p

  • my cat is copper egyptian mau :) her name is safari... i want to ask 1 thing... i m from pakistan n in the streets of pak i hv seen many cats like egyptian mau cats.. but they r stray...which makes me think that egyptian mau is not a very rare and expensive breed of cats.. is that right?

  • Egyptian Maus have been found as strays in parts of the Near East and Europe, as they got exported hundreds of years ago and ended up on the streets. : ( The strays have probably bred with other breeds and moggies, though, so they won't be entirely Mau. Pedigree Maus that are bred in England and America are fairly expensive (though not as outragous as some breeds I know of!), but that's because they're thoroughly Mau, without any other cats bred in. ; )

  • thank you so much :)

probably the mau which i m having is not a true breed :( but id doesnt make any difference.. i luv my cat n nuthin in the world can change it :)

  • I agree, it doesn't matter if they're pedigree Maus or mix-bred Maus; they're all beautiful! : D

  • There is an organization here in Egypt that rescues maus from the streets and flies them all over the world. Google Egyptian Mau Rescue Organization in Egypt. I have no association with them. My mau walked into my building (here in Egypt) and adopted me. No name yet. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

  • Hi! Yeah, I'm the current sponsorer of a Mau called Meshmesha over at EMRO. ; ) It's a great charity. Do you have any photos or videos of your cat? Is it male or female?

  • is her name an egyptian name or is it just made up? i sure want an egyptian mau to but it's hard to find someone who sells them

  • Hi! Yes, Qetesh is the name of a goddess worshipped in ancient Egypt. : ) The breeder that I got my Mau from sometimes exports her kittens to other European countries, so if you can not find a breeder where you are, you might be able to get one from her? ; )

  • a beautiful kitty so stunning

  • Thank you! :D

  • she is spoiled! and gorgeous. my mom has a female silver egyptian mau. they have incredibly silky coats. her name is nabi, and she is very clever. very communicative.

  • Mine tends to growl if you give him a piece of pork roast, or any kind of big non-splintering bone. We really do give him left-over steak and pork bones, the big ones he can't eat or break, and he carries them around the kitchen forever until he gets bored.

  • Hahahahaha. When she jumped on the elephant toy, I laughed hysterically!

    So cute!

  • My Egyptian Mau loves to talk to you. If you meow he meows back. I repeat his meow and we have our own cat conversation. But mine is the bronze and he's 15 years old. :)

  • I do the same kitty-talks, too! ;)

  • aww she cant say meow cause she is small SO CUTE!

  • i have 2 maus: Lilah and Salem. I love these cats <3

  • the kitty squeaks that adorable

  • I miss when my Zoe girl was that little!!! She had/and still does have that EXACT same face as yours. It makes me melt every time I look at her. She hardly ever meows, but when she does, it's really high-pitched like that. When I have to clip her nails (which she HATES with a passion) her "growl" sounds like Gizmo from the Gremlins. Does yours do that too? It such a goofy sound... cracks me up.

  • Oh, yeah, Qetesh growls all the time, especially when she's playing, or if she's in a mood for some reason.

  • ya my egyptian mau is about six to seven months it's a girl and I named her little cat because she is so small, and for some reason every while she just gets upset out oh nowhere

  • mine is exactley the same as yours

  • Giving your cat a name like that must make you a fan of SG1 for sure.

    She's a beautiful cat!

  • Yeah, gotta love Stargate! LOL

  • i want to get one so bad! I love Mau's!

  • omg...heart sinking..must love kitten!

  • Lovely Sound.

    Greetings Angeline
