I think the writers are trying to show the different reasons people were against the blacks integrating into their society. I mean with Loren, Hank, Jake, it's pure racism taken from their parents and their parents before them. Although with Preston, it is simply business, and I think that's the way Theresa sees it as well.

i'm sure the women knew how to cook but Grace was the only one who knew how to use spices to bring out flavor, she was originally from New Orleans a place which is known for their good food and spices.
there´s not "white" people.. maybe pink or yellow or brown but i can not see "white people " pleeeeease... the color differences are just an excuse for discriminination..
