Jason Wade's lyrics frequently refer or are based on his Christian-beliefs, but not all of them. I think I heard that he stopped explaining his lyrics eventually and just told everybody to interpret as they would like. personally, even being Jewish, I don't care one way or another.
This song reminds me of The Hunger Games, especially of Peeta and Katniss's relationship. Especially the chorus, and where it says "even if I lose the game, I'm all in" like the hunger Games? Lol i was amazed when i heard it I thought, "This sounds like it was made for the hunger games!" But anyways love the song. :)
I do believe that this song can relate to a relationship with God as well as a romantic relationship. I think that Lifehouse made the song with a romantic relationship in mind but considering the lyrics, it can still go both ways. Alot of songs are like that. The song can take on a completely different meaning to the listener than it does for the artist. Depends on who you are and what you've gone through I guess.
One thing I have to say is that Christianity shouldn't be thought of as a religion, but a relationship with Jesus Christ. For in Christianity there is only one way to heaven, not through religion, but accepting Christ as your saviour. This is my belief so don't bash it, I'm just trying to clear up the "this song has nothing to do with religion" argument. It absolutely has nothing to do with religion, but it could completely relate to someones personal relationship with Christ.
do not look where there is, just enjoy of the music reminds us steps in our lives, only that God did not die, who died was jesus, jesus we joined with God? Or, we unite with god jesus?
I don't see what this song has to do with religion at all, he does mention "breaking up"..it's definitely about relationships, but I guess everyone has their point of views..
@JaRickk Do you mind if I challenge your opinion? Well anyway, my view of faith, is the belief in something greater than yourself. A belief that your going to survive. Now in a Christian perspective, our anchor is Christ. In an illness we have faith in the medicine or the doctor. It isn't a 'fear' but a hold on life. I think without faith, we would have a fear of non-existence because we wouldn't we would frantically look for something to hold on to. Anyway, thats just my view.
I get your point and i understand it, and i'm not saying that i'm not afraid of non-existance, i'm looking for something to hold onto too, i just can't find anything to have faith in cause i'm more of a "seeing is believing" kind of person and it's kind of hard this way.
It seems that some fans will relate songs from a band who's Christian to their religion no matter what - no matter how out of context it really is...
For me, I relate it to my relationship with a friend of mine, who isn't ready for a relationship with me yet, and although I know she could find someone else, I'm still going to wait for her - for that one day when she says yes :)
this is the first time ive heard this song ! it is amazzzinggg ! everyone has a different feeling to a song.. to me this song is about finding yourself and finding out that you dont want to let go of the person you love <3 you rock lifehouse :)
imma christian myself but who gives a sh** if your atheist or buddist or hindu or catholic or christian or what religion you are! Just listen to music and feel it going through your heart.
can someone please tell me what the chorus means??? its "And I'm all in, nothing left to hide I'm falling harder than a landslide I spend a week away from you last night And now I'm calling, calling out your name Even if I lose the game, I'm all in I'm all in tonight, yeah I'm all in, I'm all in for life"
i dont really get what they are talking about? is it bout a girl ? and there all in what?? i love this song though!
@lilcammo93 all in the relationship, the guy's not gonna give up cuz they've been together too long. falling harder than a landslide is just some imagery (like his falling hard for this girl) i spent a week away from you last night is just an overexaggeration of how he can't wait to see her, calling and game idk...but long story short it's a love song
For anyone to read religion into this song is imaging things..
Maybe they need to imagine things to remain a christian, I don't know.
I think most "fanatical" religious people need to have something to keep them on the straight and narrow "right" path. If this song keeps you in that direction...awesome but don't start preaching on YouTube.
@chula1245 ....What. the. hell. Do you really consider the logic of what you Christians are saying? The dude dies on a cross just so you can thank him for giving the opportunity to do bad things? Does that really make any sense????
[this is to phobiandarkmoon] hey. chill. you have your own interpretation of the song, and so do the religious people. you dont have to bash the christians who get an awesome message out of this song just because you dont. ok? chill.
Phobiandarkmoon, all chula1245 said was that this song helps lift them up. Is it religion to feel better after hearing a song? I don't think it is. Be careful with what you say about religion.... because what chula1245 was saying was all spiritual, and I love it!

I heard this song on music choice, this morning and I knew it had to be by Lifehouse, it keep play over and over in my head. So I had to find it and I was right :) This is my new favorite song, Lifehouse rocks!
Seriously it's all you people who FIGHT ABOUT RELIGION that tick me off....let people be people and view whatever they want however they want, the END! Put it to rest, it's not worth it.
When you start labeling things, you take away from it's true beauty.
Man I hate religion - it causes more problems than anything! Religious people push their beliefs on everyone else and it just makes me despise it. Believe in what you want but no need to pressure others to join your fantasy.
@chickenrun25 Because, y'know, religion acts on its own behalf to cause trouble for people. People like you fail to realize that we are responsible for our own actions. We make mistakes, we misinterpret religions, we are at fault.
I'm tired of everyone blaming religion for their own imperfections or the imperfections of others. It's a pity that hypocrites, like those who led the Crusades, have tarnished what Christianity is supposed to be about, but that's man's fault, not God's.
@TheHolyEpic What are you even on about?! I never said we arent responsible for our own actions and I'm not blaming religion for my "imperfections" at all, what does that even mean lol man you just proved my point with your big spiel of holy crap that doesnt even make sense, you know people can have life morals and ethics and beliefs WITHOUT it all reverting back to God or Religion, just coz we don't believe in God doesnt mean we don't understand or value life. Get off your high horse.
@chickenrun25 What I said makes perfect sense. You said that you hate religion because it causes problems. You're problem is not with religion, then, it is with people. Like I said, people like you and I ruin things because we make mistakes. I mentioned nothing about morals or ethics, so I don't know why you brought that up. Lastly, I was speaking generally when I was talking about imperfections. You are not blaming religion for your imperfections, but you are for the 'people who push it on you'
How can you say that their FAITH, not religion, is irrelevant. Of course their faith and VALUES, which most of you guys dont have, influenced them in some sort of way. Lifehouse have always been an "all about life" band and they reflect their expression of life, which is largely influenced by their morality and faith, through their music. LIVE WTH IT. It can mean anything to anyone but don't say that their FAITH is irrelevant to their music.
Yeah this makes me think of ALLAH, and how great he is, how we should all give everything en live towards what he tells us to do, When we feel alone, we should know the power of allah is with us, we give all for the life when we die, and we we follow and give everything to satisfie him we will recieve what belongs to us. I can tell you, this is the same shit ass christian fans write down. This texte is a texte and you can do whatever you want with it.
OK, everyone chill out on the religion stuff. If you actually listen/read to the lyrics, it is plain that they relate to a relationship rather than religion. Yes, you can also interpret them in a religious fashion, but lifehouse has a large atheist fan base too, and very few of their songs actually relate directly to Christianity. They are a rock band who are Christian, not a Christian Rock band
@phobiandarkmoon yeah im an athiest and lifehouse has to be one of my favorite bands. simple and meaningful lyrics are where its at, plus they just sound amazing.
@phobiandarkmoon: Hate to contardict, but the band as a whole is not Christian. So when you say "they are a rock band who are Christian" you're not giving accurate information. Jason is the only Christian band member (to my knowledge). Making blanket statements like that is not acceptable. And if people want to attribute Lifehouse's songs to a particular religion, let them. Who are you to tell them how to feel?
@JasonWadeBabe my apologies, my intention was more to express that their religion (or lack thereof) was irrelevant to their music, not that the band is outright a Christian one. Who are other people to say that the song is only about God or religion and not just about the way people feel? The point is that the way this is expressed says "the non-religious have no right to enjoy these songs". And that annoys me.
@phobiandarkmoon I am going to have to disagree with you. I don't think everyone in the world is really listening. There is a relationship built between christians and God. So if you haven't been paying attention, then here is something to pay attention to. God has a relationship with his children, and for those who deny him are really missing out on a chance of a life time. If you are too, then you are missing out too
Very true. This is not a Christian song like Everything. Definately about relationship. :)
I respect Lifehouse. I guess its not quite easy to be so popular and still be a Christian. They seem to be very good role models (is it correctly said.. hehe) Anyway, Joh. 3:16-17.. Do not take it lightly.. the most important thing in this world.
@AdmiralThrawn000 Actually Phobiandarkmoon,is right this song has nothing to do with God,if you can hear the lyrics I clearly hear nothing about religion.
This song makes me think of the relationship I have had with God all these years. I screwed up again, enough to deserve death. For some reason the God of creation still loves me, and grants me his mercy. Thankyou Jesus for dieing on the cross for an evil man like me
@chula1245 .....I hate when people say that they sined so much that they deserve death. We are only people,if you didn't kill someone or didn't steal something, you're ok!
chill out and just live! don't think about your sins, you're missing the point of life.
the guitar in the beginning reminds me of their song 'Undone' :)
Absolutely love the new album!! Absolutely love Lifehouse. Don't know what to do without them and their music. They give a greater meaning to my existence!
Very "POP" sounding...but very catchy. I actually like it. The people who criticize these songs probably have never played music in their lives anyway.. So quit hating.
this song is soemwhat similar to you belong with me. just the structure is. steady beat and acosutic in the beginning, then it burst into a fast chorus.
hahahah in my opinion, its not that it sounds like taylor swift but the beat when he actually starts singing kinda sounds like the beginning of you belong with me, just a little bit but stillll haha. defff not taylor herself, just the beat a littleee
how the hell does this sound like taylor swift go get ur ears checked okayy like if ur not fan they how would u know they sound alike???? hes better like legit
@undenieable1110 it doesn't sound the same as taylor swift. just that song. listen to the pre-chorus part of the song and call me a retard. this song is loads better, but it does sound the same.
Er... Does anybody else realize this sounds EXACTLY like "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift? I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, it just seems pretty obvious that the chords and beat and just pure sound is nearly identical.
you're a moron. it sounds nothing like taylor swift. and since you're "not a taylor swift fan" maybe you should actually listen to the song and compare. and know something about music too, before you go criticizing other music. they are absolutely nothing alike.
@gottygear1864 Stop reading stupid itunes shit and turning into something to bitch about. It's nothing like taylor swift, she sucks, if this sounds like anything it sounds like FIRST TIME BY LIFEHOUSE....
i think i know what makes them associate this song with ts's you belong wiff me...it's the drumbeats, i guess...if you listen through headphones, you'll immediately catch those beats.
I wouldn't say it's exactly like Taylor Swift, but I definitely hear it, too. People just need to chill out... a Lifehouse-Taylor Swift comparison is not the end of the world.
@gottygear1864 it doesnt sound exactly like taylor swift at all maybe the melody or rhythm sounds a lil the same but hey its still different and a lot of songs do tht
@Fordmustangz Kind of angers me that somebody, who writes songs about boys and breakups, is part of the writers hall of fame when much better writers like Lifehouse doesn't even get that honor..
@JasonWadeBabe: more crap from you again ? pff don't you get tired of youself.... i've seen them Live in Amsterdam yesterday and this song was amazing freekin' good, but you had to BE THERE...... ttfn
@superjesselle: You ask why everyone's comments are so different? It's because we all have different views on what's good music and what's not! I, personally, do not like this side of Lifehouse. It's far too commercial and pop for a band that had such a strong rock beginning. While I don't hate this album, I certainly think it could be much better. This album just seems a bit...silly. Almost like Jason didn't really put much effort into writing the songs.
how come everybody's comments are so different? i've known lifehouse for only a year i guess....but i actually think their songs are pretty cool and amazing !!!!!!
horrible i should have guessed it from halfway gone it become so popish it's the beginning of the rock fall again bands lke nickelback and linkin park (heavier rock than lifehouse) become popish also so does kings of leon (sex on fire has the beginning of pop legacy) even julian casablancas left the strokes for phrazes for the young without rock sound. it's the beginning of the rock sinking again.
This song makes me feel good, happy... I love Lifehouse! Their songs make me hopeful, isn't that the sign of a great band? When they can make you really feel something through their music... I think so anyway =)
Much more up tempo than i thought it would be (although i have only listened to this one and Halfway gone..), Is there a You and me, or a Broken on this album? =)
I'll be ging to the concert next week in Amsterdam, so hope to hear an unpolished version of the song :) It has great potential, just like the rest of this album. And lets be honest, the can never get back to the level of their first album, lyric wise.
So far this seems like a great album, sure some of the songs are "over-produced/commerically over-polished" but in the end it still has the level of quality that Lifehouse always brings forward.
Already pre-ordered this and cant wait until March 2nd!
Best songs I've heard so far are (in order): Smoke & Mirrors, Wrecking Ball, All In, and Nerve Damage.
there is three people live in hellhouse.

Jason is the only Christian band member (to my knowledge). Making blanket statements like that is not acceptable. And if people want to attribute Lifehouse's songs to a particular religion, let them. Who are you to tell them how to feel?
JasonWadeBabe 1 year ago
@JasonWadeBabe my apologies, my intention was more to express that their religion (or lack thereof) was irrelevant to their music, not that the band is outright a Christian one. Who are other people to say that the song is only about God or religion and not just about the way people feel? The point is that the way this is expressed says "the non-religious have no right to enjoy these songs". And that annoys me.
phobiandarkmoon 1 year ago
@phobiandarkmoon I am going to have to disagree with you. I don't think everyone in the world is really listening. There is a relationship built between christians and God. So if you haven't been paying attention, then here is something to pay attention to. God has a relationship with his children, and for those who deny him are really missing out on a chance of a life time. If you are too, then you are missing out too
shafferrob19 1 year ago
@phobiandarkmoon
Have a Blessed day everyone. ;)

@phobiandarkmoon Why do YOU care about people's interpretation? If this song speaks to them that way, should not it be wonderful?
AdmiralThrawn000 1 year ago
@AdmiralThrawn000 Actually Phobiandarkmoon,is right this song has nothing to do with God,if you can hear the lyrics I clearly hear nothing about religion.

This song makes me think of the relationship I have had with God all these years. I screwed up again, enough to deserve death. For some reason the God of creation still loves me, and grants me his mercy. Thankyou Jesus for dieing on the cross for an evil man like me
chula1245 2 years ago 33
Alot of their songs can be interpreted as christian. I wonder if some are even written as so.(dont really think this one is though.)
I know you werent saying it was christian, just it made you think of the relationship you have with god.

Er... Does anybody else realize this sounds EXACTLY like "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift? I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, it just seems pretty obvious that the chords and beat and just pure sound is nearly identical.
gottygear1864 2 years ago
haha! it does sound alike!!!
musiclover4610 2 years ago
you're a moron. it sounds nothing like taylor swift. and since you're "not a taylor swift fan" maybe you should actually listen to the song and compare. and know something about music too, before you go criticizing other music. they are absolutely nothing alike.
catherinegracecarver 2 years ago 3
the thing thats similar is the way it starts. the steady beat and simple acoustic then jumpnig nito a chorus. it is kidna similar.
EHsoccer12 2 years ago
@gottygear1864 Stop reading stupid itunes shit and turning into something to bitch about. It's nothing like taylor swift, she sucks, if this sounds like anything it sounds like FIRST TIME BY LIFEHOUSE....
StrangeKindOfNormal 2 years ago
lol...yea right.
Are you seriously saying this sounds like that? you must be tone death!
also, never compare Lifehouse to such an untalented and overrated teenager again!
krisp8888 2 years ago
i think i know what makes them associate this song with ts's you belong wiff me...it's the drumbeats, i guess...if you listen through headphones, you'll immediately catch those beats.
racerbacker 2 years ago
I wouldn't say it's exactly like Taylor Swift, but I definitely hear it, too. People just need to chill out... a Lifehouse-Taylor Swift comparison is not the end of the world.

@gottygear1864 it doesnt sound exactly like taylor swift at all maybe the melody or rhythm sounds a lil the same but hey its still different and a lot of songs do tht

JasonWadeBabe 2 years ago 3
how come everybody's comments are so different? i've known lifehouse for only a year i guess....but i actually think their songs are pretty cool and amazing !!!!!!
superjesselle 2 years ago
horrible i should have guessed it from halfway gone it become so popish it's the beginning of the rock fall again bands lke nickelback and linkin park (heavier rock than lifehouse) become popish also so does kings of leon (sex on fire has the beginning of pop legacy) even julian casablancas left the strokes for phrazes for the young without rock sound. it's the beginning of the rock sinking again.

I'll be ging to the concert next week in Amsterdam, so hope to hear an unpolished version of the song :) It has great potential, just like the rest of this album. And lets be honest, the can never get back to the level of their first album, lyric wise.
tijnvandenhurk 2 years ago 2
So far this seems like a great album, sure some of the songs are "over-produced/commerically over-polished" but in the end it still has the level of quality that Lifehouse always brings forward.
Already pre-ordered this and cant wait until March 2nd!
Best songs I've heard so far are (in order): Smoke & Mirrors, Wrecking Ball, All In, and Nerve Damage.

It's not bad. A little over-produced in my opinion, but it's not bad. Jason's voice sounds a bit too polished, however.
