From knoxville, travel east on I-40. First exit over the NC border is Harmon Den. Get off exit and go stright into the pisgah national forest. follow the signs on the gravel road all the way up the mountain to Max Patch at the top.
@jcabler is it before the Maggie Valley exit? I live in Sevierville and I have never heard or it, I just seen it on The Heartland Series this morning.
First exit past the NC line on I-40, Harmon Den. Jeep roads to the top of the mountain.
