So many talented lady violinists now coming from South Korea, Hyun Su-shin has a performance which is quite amazing of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto 3rd movement on youtube. Even the wonderful Sarah Chang has South Korean parents.
@tom8me lol this is only the first half of the first movement in this piece.... and there are 3 movements.
and honestly, it is pretty hard to NOT memorize the piece. at this level you've practiced the piece so many times that you do not think about playing the notes because they will just come to you. that way you can focus 100% of your mental energy on parts of the performance that goes beyond the notes.
@sijas I've already forgot what I wrote for my last comment. What?
hahaha... I'm just joking but honestly I at least remember in grade 9, first day of high school and we played that damn name game starting from the front of the class... sitting somewhere in the middle I only remembered the person's name before mine.
I have read that Sarah Chang at the mere age of 12 years old, only took 2 weeks to learn the entire Tchaikovsky violin concerto, quite amazing to me !!
A pretty damn good performance in my honest opinion! Yes the tempo could be picked up a little bit in parts but then again it could just be the artist's interpretation. Compared to Ray Chen's performance, I would rate this higher!
You noticed it too? I agree. I feel like she's very methodical in her tempo and dynamics. But like alshraphaelia said, it's still a pleasing performance. She has a lot of potential.
I know our koreans are so artistic nation. thank God! At last, we have something to be proud of...

My Korean cousins can't play the violin to save their lives. I guess it's probably because they're only part Korean XD just kidding!!
