  • this is really great his ornamentation is very nice the second time through

  • I sang this in high school over 20 years ago. I enjoyed singing this song more than any other and was never more proud than when I received a "1" at state. You sing it brilliantly and with such projection!

  • You have so much to give and wonderful heart. Thanks for sharing.

  • Well done young man, that was lovely and whilst there is still a lot of work to be done on your voice, you did good. That added smile and bright face added to the comfort of your voice.. bloody good show?

    Pierre

  • Great job. I disagree with the comment about the hand clasp. When one performs, one shouldn't look like a statue. Some corporal motion is permissible but don't exaggerate. The key is to be aware of it. About the hand clasp, as long as you're not constraining your thorax, I don't see why it would interfere with your performance.

  • This is great! Very honest performance, and well done. Only two things, which looking at when this was posted, I'm sure you have a fixed. Stop swaying back and forth. Ground yourself. Also, unclasp your hands. Just let them rest comfortably at your side. Looking forward to more recent posts now.

  • that was great

  • Absolutely wonderful!!

  • bellissimo

  • Beautiful and natural. good job. :)

  • This is just beautiful, Thank you.

  • aww this is beautiful!

  • now, listen the Bejun Mehta's version.... truly beautiful.

  • Hey everyone would you go listen and comment on me singing this song?

  • I'm wondering what are you doing now. Anymore singing clips coming on YouTube...

  • You have a very nice tone. Keep working on your vowels, because many of them were off. Also, try to not look down between the parts where you sing, because it looks like you are breaking character and just waiting for the piano breaks to be over.

    Keep trying hard

  • Wow -- so much potential here! I'd love to work with your voice. With a little more focus in the sound, consistenly aligned vowels and more breath support working through your sounds and you could quickly improve your voice ten-fold!

  • Very nice! I just started taking voice (alto) at 63 years of age and am working on this piece. Thanks to my teacher, I have discovered baroque opera and as well as all the errors I have been making.

Keep studying and you will be the outstanding tenor you are meant to be.

  • looking for friends

    lets chat BU

  • if someone misses a note, who cares??? a voice should have SOUL and i found he had that

  • Thank you for sharing this!

  • It's a little throaty... needs more support from the diaphragm in order to give it that really full sounds. It would also help with staying on tune.

If he was looking for input, I'd say keep working on it, definitely still a work in progress.

  • Nice job! I loved the emotion in your performance on the repeated A section with the ornamentation. Can you start with that emotion at the beginning of the piece? Then it would be amazing! And much more engaging for the audience, which is our goal, right? :)Keep up the good work.

  • ure very cute, u should come to europe tio study properly

  • Reppin' the asians ^.^

    Hahaha.

    But seriously, very nice =]

  • What an inspiration! Nicely done! Any chance of getting this video from you? ;o)

  • Don't be too concerned with all the artistry. New singers notoriously get caught up in that, and then they run the risk of losing focus, which you do several times (out of tune). Learn to be more confident, then you can begin to add all the frills. You really need to work in evenness in your tone, so that your phrases are consistent throughout; the start of your phrases are better than the end, and I suspect that is because you are not always supporting the breath.

  • Nice voice. keep at it. But yes, Stop looking down and analyzing your sound. Look ahead and be in the moment of the song.

  • Interestingly your highest note is the best sounding one, more natural (the one you do on "to" (of into) in the first sentence), maybe you can find the same kind of relaxation in the medium range by inspiring yourself from those notes ? I wish I had easy high notes like you have ;P

  • Stay in the key given!

    Not your best.

  • that was good!

i'm singing that for solo and ensemble

  • Keep going... One thing if I may, don't look down. Look straight, find a focal point where you should return regularly. Showing not to the audience but to yourself that you mean business here. Enjoy! Seapie

  • I liked it but I think the addition to the notes at the "where you tread" and so on was not a good thing..i'm sure everyone is singing this song in their solo/ensemble as I am....is it that mostly tenors sing this song? may be not...but good job though

  • I'm singing it too for a solo/ensemble competition in March except I think this is in the key of Bb where i'm going to sing it in the key G im still working on my upper register it might be a while before i can sing this in this key My voice is still maturing right now so my voice is all out of wack sometimes i think i could sing in this key though

  • Well my Solo/ Ensamble competition was last saturday, and I recieved a Superior Command Performance!!!! that was Regionals and no i'm going to state!!

  • hehe. keep going! nice voice you have there! and thx for posting this song:)

  • You did a very nice job for a high school student. Keep going. The best advice I can give you is to work your vowels. It starts with technique. You find the most understandable, beautiful, resonant ways to produce each vowel sound, and then you lock them in whenever you have text to sing. Then the continuity of your voice will begin coming to you more. A good voice teacher is always key. Good luck! Tenor is the hardest of them all. But keep at it!

  • I am singing this song in school and I think you did a good job , I been singing all my life basically , and i think you could have done better. You basically just added random notes on the music. I understand that its a solo but I think you did too much with it.

  • CardinalBulldog, please do not listen to people who are ignorant like RJBrooks16. Anybody who knows ANYTHING about music knows that what you were doing in the da capo of this da capo aria was ornamentation, not "random notes".

  • Ya this guys a dousche dont listen to him. Great voice, i am actually singing this tomorow for Solo/Ensemble competition. Just keep working. BREATH BREATH BREATH very important. Listen to everyones good advice

  • The acoustics of the room are poor, but you sung it nicely!

  • -sang

  • Nice voice.....and You're CUTE!!

  • Very good performance, especially one for a high school student. To reach the next level of singing though the most important thing to focus on is the opening of the throat. It is very closed and to produce the best sound the mouth should create as much space as possible. Without the creation of space in the oral oriface, thevoice will come out as strained- as it did in this performance.

  • The makings of an excellent voice. This is exactly the type of aria you should be singing at this point. A lot of problems could be overcome simply by opening the mouth a lot more. Support needs work.

  • Definitely agreed with the majority of advice given below, although I somewhat differently think that practicing difficult arias is important for musical development. Still, phenomenal job for a high school performance! Your classical voice is exceptional for someone so young.

  • Once again, reduce your coloratura and concentrate on your voice. And practice, practice, practice.

  • ... Remember when singing, always keep your mouth open as if you were biting into an apple. Then try to focus your voice forward into your nose and forehead, not into your throat. I myself am a singer and I know how hard baroque music can be. However it is not the loudness or strength of the voice that matters, but the gentleness and easy flow of the voice that is absolutely vital in baroque music.

  • ...Please work on your classical singing - breathing and location of voice - before tempting such difficult arias. Coloratura can then be added, however very carefully. Coloratura is only effective and doable if you have complete control of your voice, which you do not. You are forcing your high notes and sinking away into the low notes.

  • You have a nice voice, but not for this genre. Before overdoing it with coloratura - sometimes less is more - you should work on your voice. The fact that your head is moving with your vibratos (in the high notes) shows that your voice is not located in your nose and head, but stuck in your throat...

  • keep up the good work!

  • You are a very looking man, and you have a good voice, but the barroque music needs more study an vocal technique!!!

  • Not a bad rendition... Nice singing... Although I hope you're not venturing into operatic singing since you obviously need more training in that respect... But still good singing... And it's a plus that you don't hurt on the eyes either...
