I saw this show - great! and I saw him again last night at the same venue. Nice and small. It was hilarious when he invited the "ladies" up to dance on the stage. At first i think everyone thought he was kidding. THen folks descended onto the stage and Bruce was like, where did all these people come from!? There was hardly enough room for him to play his squeezebox. Great show - as always

Bruce Hornsby is one of the greatest musicians of our time. I never tire of his music no matter how he chooses to present it. The sign of a great player is the ability to play the same song thousands of times and never do it the same way twice. We're lucky that he shares it with us.

I am a keyboard player and love Bruces stuff. I'll never know 1/100th of what this guy does. I agree with you some what. I had a disappointing experience with Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" when I saw him live. I've always loved that song, and I thought he would play the song that I loved. Unfortunately, I could only recognize it by the lyrics when he played it. As for "The Way It Is" Its a song that should always be done the same way in my opinion. I do a version of it, where I try to carbon copy the studio version. check it out if you're interested.

That is the beauty of a concert. If you want to hear the song verbatim, go buy the CD! He is a legend, and as a drummer and pianist, I believe creating this latin-jazz feel is a good change. I agree that some artists really screw up their songs during concerts, but this one is a great variation. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you know pleasing everone at a concert is an impossible challenge.
You are actually quite wrong. A professional musician will always do a live concert different from the CD. This makes the show unqiue. I know I wouldn't want to pay to hear the same as the CD, what is the point? I went and saw a concert where the band sounded just like the CD and it was aweful and a waste of my money.
I hope that you consider coming back with The Range and sounding as you did back in the day. it's because it's still so real and relavant today! you had a phenominal message that is even more important for everyone to hear and listen to again today. The old music brings back fond memories, and now as older adults we can appreciate your lyrics so much more! those who loved you back in the day will love you sooo much more now if you come back to them the way they remember you!!

I think he's one of the best piano players ever but I also somewhat. He's probably sick of the song since he's been playing it since I've been born.
If you're going to improve though Bruce, try a little harder :)

And had different with odd little turns. Spiced up the bluegrass with a twist of jazz and blues in the mix. I loved it!
