MW3 had the "feeling" of driving a mech down great. The problem is though, its mechs were far too fragile - in MW4 mechs made *sense* as machines of war. They were powerful and resilient, and missions like fending off battleships felt great. It "justified" the existence of mechs as a weapon in that world.

In MW3 you'd flop and possibly be destroyed by a few tank shots to a leg, and it begged the question - why not just use tanks instead.

I seriously wish in Mechwarrior 4 and such they let you fire missiles like artillery like your doin in this vid, in MW4 they just come out and go right at hte target no matter were ur lookin....of course NARC I think changes that somewhat but still lolz

@Griuqs You could indirect fire in MW4, you had to lock on and then quickly jerk up in the air to fire, but you could do it.

Indirect fire is built into the LRMs, they just aren't controllable during flight in order to stay accurate to Battletech fiction. You'll notice at range the missiles will arc upwards and descend on the target, but at closer ranges the angle of arc decreases. It is possible to shoot over obstacles with a missile lock so long as you and the target are not too close to the intervening obstacle. In some ways the MW4 system is better as you do not need line of sight to the target, only missile lock.

@CMDRFandragon I didn't see anything in this video I couldn't do in 4. You could arch the missiles in 4 if you wanted to. Now firing over a mountain would be something different, but what happens here is just firing at the top of a mech that is sticking out over a bit of building.

Mechwarrior 3 was a much grittier and, I feel, more realistic game than Mechwarrior 4. Mechwarrior 4 seemed like something kids in the Battletech universe would watch on HBO.

MW3 is better on balance of the mechs. Just because you pilot a really big mech you are not secure of smaller ones. I have always feared summoners using ac20. however I think the weapons could be a bit better balanced. The AC reloads too fast, if you are hit once with a big one you are done for and can't fight back, also I don't like the impulse lasers.

What I also liked about 3 was that a mech you kill does not necessarily blow up. should use the system of mechcommander 2 there.

Right totally bizarre that all mechs go critical in MW4 even when legged. The effect looks cheesy too....MW4 went so wrong in so many places.

The legging to kill mechs happened in every MW game, actually.

However, in MW3, it only took destroying 1 leg to kill a mech, which looked strange.

Anyway. As far as the best of the series go, I'll have to pick MW2, then MW3, then MW4.

Legging to kill is fine. Going *critical* due to legging, as in a reactor explosion with splash damage, is not.

And here I thought it was the 'one-legged super-mech' of MW2 that looked strange....I mean it makes complete sense that they should fall over and die if one leg is blown off, though I don't know what P&P has to say about that....

@FHFCFB100 Diashi Summo varriant. 2 clan AC/Ultra 20s and an LBX 20...and an clan ER LL for long range sniping. That'll got through armor like a hot knife through butter in close combat. Slow as hell though... hahaha

its for the computer... its an old game kinda. Still it is awesome though. You should be able to find it on Ebay or some such for cheap xD. And yes it is very awesome, best in the series in my opinion
