I was about 21 when Pop Idol was on and i had a terrible stutter. I've been let go from jobs when they realised that i couldn't answer the phone. I got so much inspiration from Gareth I realised having a stutter is not a disabilty or i'm a freak. Now at 26 i'm a police officer and have to say important information over the radios. My speech is not perfect but not many people even notice my stutter now. Just want to say thanks Gareth
My Lord, it's incredible seeing the split screen of him speaking the song and then singing it. How emotionally. It really is very interesting how he struggles with speech yet can sing so beautifully. What a brave young man. It's so great to see his more recent interviews and too see how far he's come with his speech. Good on you Gareth! You truly are an inspiration.
WOW! THis guy has so much courage to go out and face his fears! Especially with such an insidid problem as stuttering...and to be able to stare at the judges and say the words he knew he would most likely stutter on....on TV no less?? And continue on a journey where speech was a necessity? Good lord he deserves some kind of award!....Mannnn.....i'm so inspired by this guy i'm speechless.....GOOD ON YA GARETH show the world what ya made of!!! :D
o my god how wierd is it that he cant say it but he can sing it thats so strange an he's so brave i seen him on jonathan ross recently an he was great an he watched the clip of him on pop idol an then joked after"i fooled them all didnt i i never had a stammer"an they were both laughing.also love his new song changes brilliant
This is such a great documentary. It's so emotional seeing Gareth struggling with his speech, yet it's so great to see how far he's come. I think the most emotional part is when on one side of the screen it shows him struggling to read his song, and the other side showing him singing it so beautifully.
Gareth on Tonight With Trevor McDonald is GREAT to watch, But emotional too. I felt for him struggling to say his name, It also shows more of his personality in general which is great.
you are my hero

While he practices his speech, we can practice our tolerance & understanding. Everyone has some trouble with something; it should be 'no big deal'.
